Songs about drugs that no one knows are about drugs.

I dont think it's about drugs...but.....

U2 Desire

Yeah...
Lover, I'm on the street
Gonna go where the bright lights
And the big city meet
With a red guitar...on fire
Desire

She's a candle burning in my room
Yeah I'm like the needle, needle and spoon
Over the counter with a shotgun
Pretty soon everybody got one
And the fever when I'm beside her
Desire
Desire

And the fever, getting higher
Desire
Desire
Burning...
Burning...

someone told me that "blackened" by metallica was about tobacco. i didn't i just thought it was about death and destruction. but yeah, apparantly it's about tobacco and how it claimed james hetfield's mom's life.

This is probably an old one, but "Golden Brown" by the Stranglers is about heroin, and the public originally thought it was something else. I read about this recently, but I forgot the source and I forgot what the song was thought to be about.

Ween - Mutilated lips ------- < LSD

One of my faves. They sure don't try to hide it either. Man, that song is a trip.

Rob Thomas' song "This Is How A Heart Breaks" the line "You take a hit now, you feel it break down, make you stay wide awake, this is how a heart breaks." My friend and I were listening to the radio one day and we had heard the song many times before but we picked this line up and both looked at each other and said "holy crap, its about meth!"

couldnt someone explain what some parts of comfortably numb have to do with heroin please?

{I'll need some information first
Just the basic facts
Can you show me where it hurts}

i assume this refers to analgesia but there is alrdy plenty about analgesia and why would (if its heroin talking and not a dr.) you need to show it where you hurt?

{When I was a child
I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye
I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
The child is grown
The dream is gone
And I have become
Comfortably numb. }

distancing from reality due to aging? this distancing didnt occur when you were a child, but you cant place your finger on exactly what it was that allowed you to be not-distanced? thus causing pain or apathy?

i dont know

I hate these threads, no one ever agrees and I get angry at what I perceive to be "misinformation" then others get angry at me for the same reason.

Suffice to say, McCartney is on record saying "Got to get you into my life" is about cannabis. I've given up on debating songs that aren't explained on record by those who wrote them.

That being said... TRENT FUCKING REZNOR - of COURSE Perfect Drug is about heroin... ;)

Rolling Stones- Cant get no satisfaction. i heard once the song was an ode to barbiturates.

Alice in Chain- no excuses.

I've decided that KEanes' This is the last time is about some form of drug, just in that the words dont appear to be talking to a person and when he sings:

The laaast tiiime you fall on me for anything you like
Your one last line
you fall on me for anything you like
and years make everything right
You fall on me for anything you life
and I, no I dont mind...

I have decided that it is a drug left behind, but just the one last time...

but only cos I was in that way of thinking at the time I heard it.. hahah. it's all relative, our interpretations.

the gorillaz "clint eastwood" of course it's not a secret that it's about psychedelics, but it's a great song.

"I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad
I got sunshine, in a bag
I'm useless,but not for long
The future is coming on
I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad
I got sunshine, in a bag
I'm useless, but not for long
The future is coming on
It's coming on
It's coming on
It's coming on"
