Hi usernameuser!
Straight up disclaimer: the following are just my opinions based on my experience. So just take it as that and no more, because everyone's different and unpredictable.
I think opiates are one of the least likely substances to aggravate HPPD. As a first time user, you might experience some novel feelings/side-effects like feeling itchy, feeling a bit sick, feeling warm or hot, and of course feeling relaxed.
When you said you were gonna take 'half a pill'... what kind of pills have you got? You're talking about codeine, right? Because unless you have some high milligram codeine pills, that's a tiny dose. A good idea if you just wanted to do an allergy test kind of experiment, but I doubt half a pill is going to do anything. Of course, that depends on the codeine content. Where I'm from, the highest milligram content of any codeine containing pill that I am aware of is 30mg. The one's that I can buy over the counter are usually 8mg or 10mg.
Are you looking for pain relief, or relief from HPPD symptoms? Or bit of both?
If you find that small amounts of codeine work well enough for your needs, then I wouldn't recommend trying to get a script for benzos. Benzos are good for anxiety and will help your HPPD while you're taking them but if you take them for a while and then stop, you might experience a severe relapse or worsening of derealization.
Would you believe that I got my worst ever incidents of derealization when I was in withdrawals from clonazepam (Klonopin)? And this is from someone who loves taking dissociatives like ketamine, MXE, and so on, so I'm familiar with feeling weird and disconnected and could generally stay calm even when I took too much 3-MeO-PCP a couple of times. But the benzo withdrawal experiences were terrifying and beyond my ability to self-manage.
Just my opinion. Hope you find something that helps
