I'm pretty sure you can get DXM without alcohol or other active ingredients, but in the end it is not a scheduled substance so it is worth the time and effort to find a supplier with straight DXM powder if that is what you're after.

Does anyone find DXM ineffective if you're moving around? I did it a few times with great results but one time I did it and went out to a local rock show and simply felt drunk. No visuals to speak of. It seems you have to lay and concentrate to get visuals from DXM.

I remember the first time I did it I laid in bed throughout the entire experience and got some amazing visuals. My Jim Morisson picture, the famous "Lion Pose", provided a great backdrop for intense visuals. One side of his hair turned into a monkey clinging onto the side of his head and he had sunglasses with neon wavy lines moving up in endless sequences and a massive neon headpiece I can only desribe as a "crown" transformed in endless shapes. The "crown" was just neon outlines, not a fully hallucinated crown, but it was very interesting. Music appreciation was massively enhanced to the point that I simply listened to The Police "Greatest Hits" on repeat even though The Poice is not the kind of band I listen to when tripping, or very often at all for that matter lol. They were actually great experiences, but I didn't get much insight from my DXM and have found no desire to use it in the last 6 years or so.
 
I find DXM to be pretty sedating, but it also makes me not tired. I got five hours of sleep last night and I've been up for 19 hours. I worked all day and went to school all night. I've only got 180mgs in me and sleep is the farthest thing from my mid.

Agreed that you're not going to get much about it if you are moving around.
I've never gotten any visuals from the DXM (well, I never get much in the ways of visuals from anything). I prefer to wear a sleep mask while on the stuff, it helps maximize the time spent in dissociation. The mental visions are much more interesting than any visual distortions anyway, in my opinion at least. I did experience some auditory hallunications last time I used it though.

To the folks who disparage the chemical only because it's in cough syrup: please take a closer look at the morphinan family and tell me that there aren't worthwhile drugs in there.


Oh, and the OP definitely needs to stop hanging out with that dude.

Yes you can. Depending on where you live you can get cough pills that only contain DXM My pharmacy sells sublingual strips which contain DXM HBr. The dosing is a bit different however. On a side note, has any one noticed a difference in the trip length/on set between DXM Hcl, DXM Hbr and DXM freebase? Sorry if thats a stupid question.
