how would you rate it strength wise against xanax?
and also the effects (anxiety, muscle relaxant, hypnotic etc)?

i didnt know we could get lorazepam prescribed over here, just never heard anything bout it except what i've read online.
the longer half life combined with the fact it has all the properties i'm after has me curious.
 
I've had 600mg gabapentin and roughly 50mg of oxycontin. Probably dose another 30 in half an hour or more.

Pleasant enough.

Think I'll make myself a vodka and orange, that should put me in a nice state....... on the couch ;) =D
 
Misk: Yeah we get it here, I've only seen it as Ativan (I have Ativan 1mg).

It comes on slower then other benzodiazepines I think and is a bit more subtle in it's effects. Compared to xanax, I would say it's definitely not as strong weight for weight. I've only just taken tonight so can't make a weight-for-weight comparison yet.

I would definitely put it's muscle relaxant properties above alprazolam, which is great for me... my back is feeling so much better now. :)

As for anxiety, I can see how it would be very calming but would probably need to use sublingually if I was having a panic attack or needed anti-anxiety effects quicker.

Hypnotic: I feel fairly sedated I suppose, but was also tired after work anyway. I don't imagine I'll have too much trouble sleeping tonight. :)

What properties are you looking for specifically?
 
the properties you just explained.
i have found now i have a tolerance to xanax, 1mg is enough to treat mild anxiety, 2mg for more severe. would need 2mg to get to sleep, but won't 'knock me out', more just puts my mind at rest so i can sleep.
i have also found it has no effect on my legs, when i first started taking xanax it would remove all of the pain.

i know xanax is not specifically best as a muscle relaxant or hypnotic, so it would be interesting to see how i would go on lorazepam - it may be a case of tolerance to all benzos, or just that i'm using xanax to try and achieve the wrong thing, or maybe treat too many issues.

i dont really have panic attacks, my anxiety can just creep up at times and if i dont take anything when it does, it just gets to the point where my mind is racing a million miles an hour and feel like i cant leave the house kind of thing - so i dont specifically need something that is very fast acting.
 
What does everyone think of Stillnox?

Now that's some bizarre shit. Walked around the house naked, went to the toilet, then back to bed, with my brother and his friends watching the whole thing, I was not conscious at all through any of it.
 
theres a stilnox thread, but my above experience was exactly like a stilnox blackout but more intense
 
I prefer stilnox for sleeping. If I abuse it puts my normal sleep patterns way off track and I struggle to get to sleep at all.

When you first had success with the xanax for your leg pain, did you have a benzo tolerance at all?

Lorazepam could be a good benzodiazepine for what you want, as it has all five properties of the benzodiazepine class (amnesic, anti-convulsant, anxiolytic, hypnotic and muscle relaxant). It's considered a short-intermediate acting benzodiazepine, so you would probably have to dose twice in a day at least for 24 hour symptom relief.
 
i used to be prescribed ativan 2.5mg, strange benzo. i've seen people have some GNARLY hallucinations on it, a good friend had a look of absolute terror in his eyes one time, didnt look like any fun at all. it seems fairly common with ativan compared to other benzos though it never happened to me, as a matter of fact lorazepam never did much of anything to me. would definatly agree with Mr Blonde that it takes a fair while to come on and is very subtle.

ie. .5mg would do nothing, 1mg would help me sleep and 2mg would help with the leg pain and send me to sleep, still no knocking out shit, just was more sedating than it is now.

im not really after 24 hour relief as i feel benzos arent the right thing to chase that with, but if i could relief on more levels (ie muscle relaxant, hypnotic etc.) on a similar dose, then i wouldn't need to increase my xanax dose to achieve the desired results - even upto 8mg at once had no increase in effects, as though i had achieved a dose ceiling at say 2-4mg.

hope that makes some kind of sense lol
 
Slortaone: Yeah I remember reading a thread a while back regarding people having weird hallucinations off of lorazepam. I haven't had anything weird like that yet, just feeling relaxed, sedated and glad my back muscles have calmed down... they were killing me before.

Yeah I dig what you are saying; you want relief on more levels as opposed to alprazolam which can be somewhat limited. Lorazepam might do the trick for you, maybe you should try it out?
 
it should also be noted that meth was involved on a couple of occasions with the strange hullicinations, not always though.

after about a year of being on it it got to the point where 15mg felt like taking sugar pills. 2mg of clonazepam would work fine though, i guess lorazepam just isnt for me. good to hear its working on your back muscles Mr Blonde, i thought valium might be a better option for the muscle relaxant properties?
 
going by the dose it is sold in (1mg and 2.5mg) it is a more potent benzo, and as Mr blonde suggested, it covers all 5 properties of benzos effects/benefits when others do not
 
^ Potency doesn't really mean much though, apart from smaller tablet sizes. There is some interesting pharmacology behind lorazepam though, such as 95% of it being protein bound in the plasma and lack of active metabolites, as compared to diazepam's larger distribution through the body and active metabolites.

Diazepam definitely has stronger muscle relaxing properties I can say at this point, but it just so happened that lorazepam fell into my lap today and I don't often get benzodiazepines. Might be able to get some oxazepam as well, which I quite like. :)
 
^^ potent to me just means possibly a different course or route of action, not smart enough to elaborate as much as you do lol
 
^ i know, i was prescribed the 1mg tablets for 6 months and the 2.5mg for over a year.

you wouldnt have to redose with the diazepam, and it is in a league of its own as far as muscle relaxant properties goes (ime), and valium works very well for anxiety. i dont know, just throwing it out there. Mr Blonde knows his shit, i wouldnt doubt him.

i found diazepam not that great and i built up a tolerance to it quite quickly and now put it in the same class as temazepam.
i didnt research drugs back then as much as i do now, but regardless of the half life and the properties, i dont find it a strong enough drug.
i think last time i had it 2 years ago my tolerance built up within days and a bottle of 20 would last less than a week.
 
Benzos just make me tired. I usually just combine it with other substances. it's great with ugh a white lady or a special k. Benzos alone are ok depends on how hard you are stressin.

fair enough, with benzos it always varies from person to person. tolerance definatly builds fast.
