Snoo version 6 - Shiny Spring-Summertime Snoo!

Left my room to get food and discovered 'There's cake in me, Oli' spelled out in alphabet letters on the fridge door. Turns out housemate had been up doing midnight baking because he couldn't sleep, well chuffed :D God I love him, he makes me omelettes at 4am when I'm so fucked I can barely remember my own name and last time he even made my bed before I went to sleep. If I wasn't reasonably sure he's a massive gay, and if I wasn't, I'd so marry him. Really going to miss him when we move out, he's living with a bunch of girls whereas I will be shacked up with five computer scientists and the world's most outspoken psychology student

It can;t really be down to me as I'm PAYE but the tax man can take it back, the tax man can do what the fek he likes , if they can over pay child tax credit with their own error and then take it back they sure as hell can take cash back from me, they just change your tax code and they claw it back.

Bit late on noticing this but aye, you're right. They can & will take it back from you. The final responsibility to check that the correct tax is being paid lies with the tax payer (you) not the tax collector (your employer/"the taxman").

They'll normally take it back over 12 months but you can get them to do it over 24 or 36, depending on how old the debt is, without any interest being charged.

When doing a bit of tidying my room today, I managed to find that £25 cheque from my grandma that I was angry that I had lost a few days back. Am glad I found it :) Will take a trip to the bank on Monday to deposit it into my account. Was a good snoo as I didn't want to tell my grandma that I had lost it.

I had a really good snoo to post in here, but as soon as I got to the text entry box, I forgot it :( oh well, I'm sure it will come back to me snoon.

Oooh, remembered it :) I plugged the usb receiver for my wireless keyboard and mouse into my pretty damaged netbook and it works, the mouse works fine and isn't shorting out the computer like my old usb mouse. I'm going to take my keyboard and mouse and netbook and my HDMI cable or a VGA cable to my dads on Wednesday so that I can create a mini docking station down there as I won't have my ps3 to be online but can use his wirless and if all goes well I'll be able to just be hanging on the sofa with my keyboard and mouse with my netbook's display on my dads HDTV instead of the small screened netbook. :)

It also means that I'll be able to get into the TC rooms and on AIM/MSN and facebook again if the netbook keeps working for a good amount of time :) Snootastic.

^ ace :)

Parents came to visit today, which is snootastic in itself, but they helped me clean my flat and now it looks gorgeous! It was getting me down so much.. I can have friends round now without being mortified and I have somewhere lush to chill.

In other snoo news my nan has just given me some money :) I've still not managed to get any back from the phone company or council, but this means I'm not as skint as I was and she wants me to spend some of it on something special, so I am finally able to get the swallow tattoo I wanted in memory of Dave - two oldskool swallows on the front of each shoulder based on a birthday card Dave gave me (he chose it as he knew I wanted a swallow tat) :D <3

Also getting a new vacuum cleaner and some pots and pans haha :)

Also snoo-ing about all the lovely friends I have here on BL <3 <3 <3

Great snoos effie :) Don't forget to post pics of you tattoo when you get it done :)

On the subject of tattos, is there any way that you could email me the specs and stuff for the smiley face tattoo as I wouldn't mind checking out some of the tattoo shops in Portsmouth next week to ask them about prices and discuss where best to have it on my body. Will be a super snoo for me when I finally get my first tattoo in memory of Dave too. :)

I have a template for the smiley, used by all of us and DS_'s mrs to :) remind me tomorrow! Every side you could possibly imagine, and his sister spent ages making sure it is precisely the same as the one Dave had <3

:)

Nope, not always and it looks like I might be lucky on this one, the tax code changed due to me no longer having company car and so I was entitled to a refund, I'm no tax expert but fortunately know someone who is, it seems that the Tax code issues was not applied in the correct way, something to do with yearly and monthly and that my earning from my old employer (the one before the TUPE) where not entered into the system making my yearly earning seem to be much less than they actually were. I could not have know this and did not supply the tax office with that information.

I the view of this person who ever incorrectly filled out the forms is responsible and it wasn't me, if it had been the tax man's error I'd have no chance but in this case it looks like I'm not culpable for the cash. Now its just a case of trying to nail down who made the error or it may even come down to which company they were working for at the time.

@Effie, It must be great to have a nice tidy place again, logic would say that you'd look at the mess and clean it up but I find the opposite cab occur, you look at the mess and feel so down about it that you can't find the motivation to sort it out. Tis great you have family to help you out in difficult times, a comfy bolt hole from the world is a valuable thing.

There's one flaw in your theory there. "I could not have know this and did not supply the tax office with that information.".

So, from an HMRC point of view, the details of your company car changed & you did not advise the tax office of this. Your employer appear to have incorrectly advised the tax office of this, at which point you would have been sent a copy of the tax code change that would also have been sent to your employer. It is your responsibility to check this tax code & contact the tax office if anything is incorrect. It is also your responsibility to check the tax code being operated on your pay & advise the tax office if this is in anyway incorrect, or if the incorrect amount of tax is being deducted (I realise that most people won't know if it's right or not, but HMRC does not give a fuck about what you know lol).

What you need to do is claim that it's employer error. There's a chance you might get away with it if they accept that but they can always just fall back on the paragraph above & say that, even though it was your employer's error, it was your responsibility to check that you were paying the correct amount of tax.

Not trying to be a cunt btw man haha, I agree with you. I'm just letting you know how they can (& often will) view it.

Surely I can't be the only one that finds it just a little bit sexy when Crackers gets all BureauAssertive™

Here is my snoo - finally putting this empty photo frame to good use:

I'm not so sure that Kate will appreciate it, but it's my computer room so :p:p:p

:D

Haha oh man, that's brilliant, if she doesn't appreciate it she's clearly mad :P

edit: had waking up to someone you love snoo this morning, which I don't get nearly often enough. sang all the way home, ha.

I have a swallow tattoo on my wrist in memory of my dad :)

Was being all woe about getting a recent diagnosis of dyspraxia til someone said to me 'It's like a fighting game, you know enough now to go from bashing buttons to chaining together combos'. Hugely geeky analogy but it really really made me smile. Sure the past fifteen years or so have been really hard going educationally but now I know whassup I can start to work on dealing with it :D

Getting out of Cambridge, seeing friends, won £95 at the casino last night too but that wasn't the main snoo, the snoo was that I only started with £10 and once I was up I wasn't even tempted to carry on gambling, took a few breaks and watched my friend lose most of his money whilst I controlled myself and just made a bet every now and again. I didn't play at all for the last hour there, just watched, it's a personal victory for me as I would usually have just stayed at the table until I was losing money but I managed to use self control to just quit when I was ahead.

Good job there mate :) Must take a lotta fucking control that.

Snoo was having a half cut wander into the toy/weird collectors shop in the shopping centre and striking up a conversation with a dude who worked there. Really nice guy, clearly loved his job and we got talking about card games. Ended up giving the three of us a free booster pack each of the new game he had in. They're all holographic, or whatever that fancy 3D effect is, look fucking awesome. Cool guy, made my day :)

^^

Snoo snoos %)

Got the last of my plants into the garden tonight, well chuffed :) Now I just have to hope they don't die, freeze, get eaten by slugs or shat on by the cats etc etc :p

Should be posting this up in the garden thread really.

Ach, don't usually post here because snoo is so fucking twee but...g/f took day off work due to being treated outrageously badly by the imbeciles she works with and we've had a lovely time doing naughty things which have put more than a smile on her face*. I love my naughty girlfriend.
