Sniffer dogs

Dogs can't smell anything when there is coffee around. Put your drugs inside a larger pouch wih ground coffee in it, the dog will avoid it like the plague.

Is there any truth in this? I highly doubt it but yea..?

no the only thing that seems to hold any merit due to its scent is that activated charcoal stuff.

Trying disguise the scent with other stuff will not help you at all, the dog will still be able to smell your drugs

It's not about disguising the scent with other stuff. It's about OVERWHELMING the sense of smell of the pooch. I guess it's the kind of thing that is difficult to prove... Although I think if you search the DEA website you will find instances (many) where the colombian imported the white stuff as coffee, simply hidden within coffee stashes. It's the kind of thing that is fairly easy to look up?

For an example: If u put an mdma pill or any substance in a ice cube tray and cover it with water and freeze it and hide it the dog will find it. Coffee will absolutley do fuk all. Just because u smell it stronger than other things doesnt mean it will overpower the dogs smell. They are trained to do this there whole life at a young age.

I understand your logic. But you aren't a dog and your logic does not apply to a dog's nose. Coffee simply fucks up a dog's sense of smell, nothing else. It doesn't have to COVER the smell.

For example here: http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/newsroom/news_releases/july_2009/07092009_3.xml

There is no mention of dogs whatsoever. I'm not saying they had dogs sniff around it and didn't find it because that would probably not be disclosed. Just the coke was not found by dogs but rather by equipment.

Of course there are reports like these:

Jesus, I thought the whole coffee/sniffer dog crap had settled down until I saw this thread :0

It's been said time and time again by cops, druggos and a thousand other people - coffee and other strong-smelling substances designed to confuse or overwhelm a narcotics detector dog simply do not work.

Dog's have a very accute sense of smell, much different to humans. One good example is this; "When humans smell a curry, they smell the curry as a whole. It is not until they look with their eyes that they are able to accurately distinguish the contents of the curry. When a dog smells, they smell the individual components of the curry seperately, just like they do when they smell drugs."

There are some instances where Activated charcoal has had some success, but the dog's reaction to the charcoal is very obvious to the dog handler, and is something the handler will be looking for. Coffee simply doesn't work at all, if anything it is working against you by providing the strong smell that humans can pick up on.

Animal pheremones and perhaps "dummy" plantings of illegal drugs are about the only things that will help you against a drug sniffing dog. Pheremones certainly have some potential, as the right pheremone can render a dog distracted and useless for sniffing out the good stuff.

"Dummy" plantings are also another possible solution, although this is of limited use outside of a house or vehicle. if you know you will be subject to drug sniffing dogs, plant VERY (ie can barely be seen by the human eye) small amounts of your drug around your stash area. This will send the dog into a frenzy with all the scents of the drugs and as long as the dog doesn't go straight for your main set, the handler should lose faith in the dog and call it a day.

The issue with the technique is that the dogs are also trained to sniff out coffee, due to the regular use of this technique.

Question, why is this guy taking coffee into the festival???????

Still think water guns with bong water sprayed on the ground the night before the event could cause problems.

what exactly is it sniffer dogs are trained to sniff out? all illegal substances or just any chemical? because im going to a rave on saturday and due to the amount of piperazine pills in circulation im not taken no ecstasy how ever i am taking ritalin and i dont think a police officer will belive that i have ADHD wen im carrying alot more ritalin tablets than a normal person with ADHD would need in lets see a week? lol

by the way before someone says i know the dogs will be able to smell the chemicals in the ritalin i mean wil they react to it that they have found something or will they simply not do anything

im not %100 sure. but i think its safe to say the dogs wont sniff out ritalin.

to my knowledge, the only substances dogs are trained to sniff out are cocaine, speed, pills and marijuana, maybe ice? just the drugs that most people use.

no point teaching them to sniff out ritalin, not common enough.
