Sniffer dogs

Just remember guys stay calm around the dogs. If a dog happens to jump up on you or stick his nose in your pocket or touch you/ nip at you can get your case thrown out as it warrants an illegal search. Look at the case Darby vs. Director of Public Prosecutions:

http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/cases/nsw/NSWCA/2004/431.html

"The appellant was charged with possession of methylamphetamine and cannabis leaf. The substances were found after th"e detection of cannabis by a police drug detection dog. In the Local Court the magistrate ruled that the actions of the dog constituted an unlawful search, and that evidence of finding the substances should not be admitted. The prosecution offered no further evidence and the charges were dismissed."

Carry a medical certificate with you stating such a fact, find a cop (without a dog) and say you cannot be approached by a dog, but youre not carrying and offer to have a frisking if necessary.

What if you have a PHOBIA of dogs, how can one avoid the situation then? It is a true phobia to: Cynophobia - Fear of Dogs and Rabies... It's a legitimate claim I guess.

Australia is rabies free, but the dog fear thing could work I suppose. I'm not very comfortable around dogs (or cops for that matter), and always get nervous when I see them whether they are pets or drug sniffer dogs.

I tried to get sniffed out at parklife. Had MDPV and goey all over my fingers, my clothes stink like weed, my wallet stink like all links of shit and I snorted some stuff through a note. Walked right past the dog and he didn't even look at me twice

Alot of it comes down to your reaction when you see the dog approaching.
If you shit your self and try to turn around an dwalk away they will be watching you and pull you aside.

Last year I was at a pub on the Northern Beaches with some friends. A sniffer dog came through with a few officers. One guy saw the dogs and put his bag of cocaine somewhere above the dogs nose whilst another guy tried to slip out the rear gate. Guess where there were more police waiting??

The guy that tried to escape got searched and arrested whereas the guy who calmly put his drugs aside got away clean.

In a condom, wash the condom, place in another condom, repeat once more, then plug it. My dealer mate pays a security to let him in and out to grab his gear.

Are you following me? O_o :P That's (more or less) my exact procedure! When I used to go to festivals and drop I would be extremely methodical and careful - never let me down once! Having said that, and everyone should heed this warning, if you get in with substances on you, it is and will always be luck! Don't ever fool yourself into thinking you've got the best more fool-proof method and no one can touch you! Being lax in itself will increase your chances of being caught!

Additionally, don't bother using any substance which will irritate the police dog. This alone ("this" being the dog's unusual reaction) is enough warrant for the police to take things further. Generally - and this can be generalised into anything, umm, "mischievous" ;) - the best crime is one which no one even know has happened!

It's festival season, goodluck, be safe! =D

I'm always very tempted to give the dogs a pat and have a play/wrestle with them...been told off enough times where I don't do it anymore :) Labradoors and beagles at the airport are difficult to resist though...

I used to get very uncomfortable around cops, just an automatic response I guess. It's a horrible feeling and one that we shouldn't have to worry about for personal use amounts.

As a chick, I've always stashed in my bra, wearing one that has a place for padding (and padding my boobs with my gear!).

My motto will always be to keep it close to my chest...

You've been lucky so far that’s all...

Let me tell you a story about a certain Perth event back in 2009, an event where it was well publicised that sniffer dogs and the now defunct "drug disposal bins" were to be used. At said event a friend of mine stashed her gear in her bra. On the way in she was picked out for a search in a little tent. I don't think the dog actually indicated by the sounds of it, they just grabbed her at random. In the tent she was asked to lift up her bra to show nothing was hidden in it. She reckons her heart was nearly beating out of her chest as she slipped her hand under the bra right where the baggie was so she could lift the bra without it being seen or falling out. Luckily she pulled it off and instead of what would likely been a possession charge she had a great day.

When in doubt, hide internally...

^ They don't use the disposal bins anymore? That's a shame... I guess it was just a temporary knee jerk response to the death they had over there.

No. They failed dismally.

Drug amnesty bins left empty

Police say a very small quantity of drugs was placed in amnesty bins which were used at a music festival in Perth at the weekend.

The bins were located at the entrance of the Rock-It festival in Joondalup, where people could dispose of drugs without being charged.

Police Commander Brian Cunningham said there were no drug overdoses at the event, which was attended by 26,000 people.

Commander Cunningham says only a few people disposed of drugs in the bins, and one person was charged with supplying drugs.

"Until we have it analysed we don't know, but I can't say it's a very small amount, it's not a large amount, but the other thing I can say is that even one of the persons that passed the bins has been charged with supplying drugs," he said.

"And we actually apprehended someone outside the event trying to supply drugs to other people too."

They did actually get another use after Rock-it in April at the event in my story.

But again I think not much was left in them. It was a rather nasty set up there too. it went, car park, bins, fence, check point, area with doggies, second check point. So basically you had already passed the bins when you got to the area where you could see the dogs.

I still think they were an OK idea. If people decide at the last minute they don't want to take the risk, it would be good if there was the option to dump rather then possibly face charges.

Now that you've posted that VeryBuffed, I think I actually remember reading that in the thread at the time...

There are products you can buy that are resealable bags used for camping in the USA. They are designed to prevent bears raiding your campsite at night and eating your food + maybe you also. I think they were called "pong proof" or something like that. Bears have the same ability to smell as dogs so it'd stand to reason that these bags may be useful in avoiding sniffer dogs detecting your "picnic basket".
