I've smoked a fair amount of both Calea and lotus, explored red vs pink vs white lotus, used both orally and as different varieties of extracts too. Lotus is mostly useful in the way benzos are, and it shares pharmacokinetics with them as well which is neat. Get some lotus 50x and mix a few pinches with flower in a bowl, it'll make it much more relaxing but not as foggy as an indica would be, as far as headspace goes.
Tripping on lotus is tough and in the past only occurred as a result of mixing it with harmaline. I have no idea if that's safe though so I'm not advising it until more research is done. This is a very sedative, relaxing trip akin to very clean LSA that's been extracted from HBWR.
Calea and lotus both are amazing tools, and I've had very profound experiences as a result of both. I'm calea's best used as an oneirogen, and lotus as a mild sedative on its own, or a real power player in combinations.
