Smackie Thread

Maybe we need a general Opiate thread? Seems like most of the AUDD crew are doing pharms these days.

Is a Smackie Thread just for destitute heroin users who would sell their own children for a hit? Or is it a general opiate thread?

Well anyone at the 'sell their children' phase is well past using internet forums, so I'm going with the latter.

i don't think there are many destitute drug users. i dare say most people here are either professionals or white collar slobs mixed with some kids and uni students with the odd pimp. I believe <terrible joke - argh> qualifies for that role. ;)

fucking hell.

Maybe those people who only use codeine or swallow/snort oxies or whatever don't want to be lumped in as "junkies", but the fact is you are. Footscrazy brought up a good, lengthy discussion on this subject recently. I don't like the term, I think it's derogatory as fuck and implies you are a bad person. But to 50% of Australians who are against drugs and want even pot users to go to jail for life, if you abuse opiates in any manner whatsoever, you are a junky. The lowest of the low. Worse than murderers and rapists. It doesn't matter that you are nothing at all like the stereotypical "junky", nor have ever done anything of the negative connotations which go with the term, it doesn't matter that you are probably a lot better people than these straight Jesus freaks either. To them, we're better off dead.

Last night I did a CWE in my car and slept in a McDonald's parking lot. I feel like quite the junky after doing that.

Probably slept through a priest raping a young kid in the nearest church. Who's the worse person?

I dont know about that, I seem to get yelled at more for interfering with children than leaving needles at playgrounds.

Is anyone here old enough to remember a time where heroin had the same acceptance as meth seems to these days.

No, but it annoys the hell out of me that people who won't think twice about smoking meth all weekend give me shit because I use opiates. It's just a cycle I guess, heroin has been around longer so more people have seen the damage it can do, in 10 or 15 years people will probably see meth in the same light.

it does annoy me, because opiates by themselves are so benign, pretty much every problem caused by opiates is a result of their prohibition, not of their use.

^ Yeah, I agree it's stupid. IME it's heroin more than anything else, pharmaceuticals tend to have a better reputation. That being said, I know someone who has no qualms about using heroin who likes having a go at me for using the 'dirty junky shit' that is codeine. Silly prejudices...

Maybe you shouldn't be interfering with children in the first place. I agree with the people yelling at you, that's much worse than using drugs. They can't even be compared. Leaving needles in playgrounds is another thing you should avoid doing altogether, it's kiddy-fiddling-junkies-shooting-up-in-playgrounds-and-leaving-their-needles-lying-around like you that give the rest of us users a bad name 8).

I've never left a used syringe anywhere except for in one of those purposely made yellow syringe containers which get returned to the large needle bin outside whichever needle exchange place I go to.
