Shrooms in honey, how much Psilocybin will be in the honey?

Ive searched and searched, here and on the shroomery, but havent found the answer

I just got some shrooms, and they came in a jar filled with honey and the shrooms, im guessing they have been there for a while, but not sure, and was wondering, how much of the Psilocybin etc would be in the honey? (as a % of what was in the shrooms to begin with)

Cheers

Psilocin/Psilocybin concentrations are .5-1% of the dry weight for most mushrooms, if you know how much gram of mushrooms are in there you can calculate how much is in the honey.
Why do you need to know this, anyway?

i mean like, if i drink the honey, or put it on toast, whatever, will it have enough Psilocybin to make me trip, and how much Psilocybin would be in the honey

Are you saying that the shrooms are hole; stems and caps within the honey?
Or
Powered shrooms within the honey?

I do believe that the hole stems and caps; the Psilocybin within them will not leach out into the honey.

Although I do know that if you powdered the shrooms and place them into the honey for long term storage, the honey will absorb the Psilocybin.

If you know exactly what amount you have, told to you buy whoever sold it to to you i.e 1/8 = to 3.5 grams or more.

For one, if your gonna split it in half you cant accurately weigh them because of the honey. Your gonna have to guess. Other wise your gonna have to eat every thing.

No matter what, it's a guessing game. Thankfully you cant OD on shrooms, but if you do take allot of them. You sure will travel far down that rabbit hole.
Good luck to you.

If you don't know the weight of the mushrooms in there, no way of finding out.

I bought a quarter of mushrooms once in a jar filled with honey. The shrooms had obviously been grinded up into a very fine powder. There was even a label on the jar that stated: 1 tblspn = 1gram. I believe the honey was there just to cover up the taste...which it did a great job at doing!

There seems to be a honey/bee and mushroom connection in antiquity. Most likely a way to preserve mushrooms. McKenna, i think, proposed the idea that fermentation (of the honey) may have been discovered this way.

I have heard second-hand accounts of shrooms soaked overnight in honey making the honey VERY psychoactive. As to the validity of the claims, I cannot confirm. McKenna talks about the subject, but I personally don't consider him an authority by any means.

Ott touched on the subject of shrooms and honey in pharmacotheon. He described hearing of tourists buying mushrooms in mexico/South America that had been placed into the honey while fresh. Apparently the native had been told by tourists that it was the best way to store mushrooms but adding the fresh mushrooms to the honey apparently (he may have been speculating, IIRC) resulted in a fermenting mess.

Not sure about the original question, but I'll put in another good word for honey being one of the best ways to take shrooms. A week and a half ago I ground up 7 grams and mixed it into a glob with honey. It fit on one big spoonful and I barely tasted the mush at all. And HOLY SHIT did it ever come up fast! (i.e. <20 min, and this was having just eaten a couple of hours previously) Highly recommended.

hey guys,
I hope that's not of topic. Do you know which honey (kind or strain idk) is better for storing dried and powdered shrooms? I mean in terms of color, so that it would match the blueish tone of mushies...or which one darker or brighter honey looks more normal when you add magic fellows to it?
and I need to store around 20-25 g's, what would be the optimal amount of honey to use for that? it should be better one or two jars...
peace!

Whoa...honey as a storage medium for mushrooms...interesting...

I am getting 5g of encapsulated shroom powder very soon, but my current mental state is not conducive to tripping...If i were to store the powder/pills in some honey, would they last indefinitely? Would this be the best long term storage solution, and will they degrade at all?

Honey is a great way to preserve things, I can't remember the details exactly but it's structure means that no large air pockets can form. So bacteria can't really spread throughout honey, which means it doesn't go off.

a good ratio is 1 Tablespoon (0.5 fl oz, or 15 mL) light-colored honey to 1 gram of dried mushroom powder.

light-colored honey does not pack too much floral taste (save the dark honeys for delicious non-psychoactive treats). add a pinch of fresh-grated ginger to your tastes.

as long as the mushrooms are thoroughly dried and finely powdered, it is fairly fool-proof to make. gently warm the honey jar in a hot water bath so it is easy to stir, then add your pre-weighed mushroom material. stir well, seal tightly, and LABEL IT to prevent unfortunate accidents or overdoses. it should be OK for weeks at room temperature, months at 40F/4C, and years if deep-frozen.

to serve, bring to room temperature (or slightly warmer using a hot-water bath or 1-2 seconds in microwave) and then simply scoop some out with a knife and spread it on a spoon for accurate measurement (don't stick the spoon directly in the jar because a bunch of honey will stick to the back of the spoon and it's difficult to measure that way). a knife is easy to scrape clean and determine exactly how much each person is getting.

eat like candy, or stir into a mug of hot water for instant shroom tea. usually comes on in 15-30 minutes.

EDIT: regarding fresh mushrooms in honey, the fresh mushroom is 90% water by weight. this disrupts the antibacterial properties of the honey and can end up making wine or vinegar.
