I find that being a more objective person helps, but release of built up emotions can sometimes be exactly what you need in such a deep gratifying profound way that you just fall in love with the mushrooms for doing what they do.
however some serious advice, if anything happens to someone you love or has recently I recommend NOT eating mushrooms until that issue is long over. Once on a trip my friend went catatonic from suppressed memories and I just couldnt help the guy... it was one of the most terrifying events in my life because even though I was trying something new to snap him out of it every few minutes nothing gave and he just continued to act like he was lost in a dream.
It tore me a new facehole and really humbled me, seeing that some people just can't keep it together whereas others have a natural ability to "stay in the moment", now my friend snapped out of it at an instant but I never knew if he was done for good or if he was going to need therapy or something.
to trip you need to be on a vacation basically nothing to harm you, make sure time is not a factor because trust me this is the BS you worry about when your coming up "is my mom coming home tonight? do I have to skip school tommorow? Do i have to be anywhere within 12 hours?"
so clear your mind of all potential worry, even after years of tripping I can get pretty looped out about something like a family member knocking on my door or calling me while i'm dosed and looking for the deepest aspects of my being
