should I use Psychedelic when I'm young?

Wait. while you may be mature enough to intergrate and really gain things from psychedelic experiences your brain is still growing, messing with your brain chemistry now could really fuck things up. In hindsight I probably should have started when I was a bit older.

Spend these few years of growth to learn and study about psychedelics and all their glory. In the end you'll be better for it.

Well I'm 15 myself, and I don't really think psychadelics are bad to use when you're young, just as long as you're mature and you treat it with respect. The only things I've done are weed which I smoke to have fun, or just think of ideas, and DXM well I just let that take me wherever. I don't really go into a DXM trip and expect to have a life-changing experience, I usually just have weird thoughts I don't remember and some realistic visuals of things I have never even seen before along with some patterns. I do play to try mushrooms in a bout 2 weeks once I get the money but I'm looking to take them to have an introspective experience, and to possibly have fun while I'm doing it. I'm not doing it just for fun though, but if it is fun I won't mind. Just research everything before you try it, that's what I did. I introduced myself to weed, nobody made me try it I made the decision after researching it, and my friend gave me a roach to a blunt he smoked, and I loved it.

I'm really glad I spent such a long time (in my case years) reading about psychedelics without ever having access to them, I went into it much more "prepared" (if you could ever be prepared for that) than most people do. (I don't lump DXM in with the drugs most people think of as psychedelics though.)

Well ............ he's gone. lol.

Dont know why you want to do salvia, it may sound cool, but whatever .... listen and learn.

Have some small doses if you are really interested in doing it, otherwise i would say wait about a year / a year and a half.

Have you ever used any drugs? If not, I strongly urge you to try salvia, especially at this age. I would imagine that if you do it at a young age, it will establish a strong appreciation for the strength of psychoactive drugs, and probably make you more cautious in your future drug-related endeavors.

Do not bother with HBWR, and hold off a few years for shrooms, acid, and E.

I did salvia for the first time at age 14 and I'm fine, I think :)

I've used a large amount of psychedelic drugs in my life and have learned valuable information from all of them, except salvia.

Salvia has never taught, shown or made me aware, of anything! It is just a "WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT" experience, to me.

It is not even that enjoyable, to me at least.

Go for it but only if your ready, when i was 14 i was experimenting with psychedelics. It definetaly opened up my eyes.

Grow up a bit, at least a couple more years...

LSD was my first psych... I took it when i was 16. That was a generally good time in my life... At 14-15, i wouldn't even want to imagine it... I was depressed, the type of kid who over thought everything. at that age i was hating my life... Its strange to think back on it that at that time in my life i was asking myself "why not just kill myself?" and other than a messy cleanup for whoever i couldn't think of much... pot helped that, it broke up the everyday monotony of life... I started to just let go, stopped worrying about things that were far beyond my control and just let things happen as they would.

I was at a stable and mature mindset by the time i was 16. i had a job, i was happy, and with a couple of exceptions life wasn't bad. I dropped and had an amazing trip. Still, maybe in a few years i will look back on it and decide i dropped to early in my life. Perspectives change with time, you might think you are mature but you still have alot of growing up to do and alot of things to experience. But at least you are mature enough to ask if its a good idea.

my advice is to go onto erowid, read everything you can about everything you want to try, especially the experiences. Good and bad, to fully judge the potential of what might happen. But no matter how much you read about it, you have no idea what it is like. for me LSD was like nothing i could ever imagine, and more than i could have dreamed for...

Salvia is a ridiculously powerful substance. A good breakthrough trip would teach you a 5 minute lesson in respecting the power of psychedelics... Salvia could be doable in that, it doesn't cause too many life changing perceptions but it is very powerful. 1.5 hits of lsd caused me to see the world differently, a small bowl of salvia ripped reality to shreds and hurled me into new universes... but i didn't get anything out of it other than a "what the fuck just happened?" sort of feeling... if you do it, do it around another person where there is not anything you could hurt yourself around...

my last salvia trip was at night while camping, i was thrown into some fucked up tv set, and then in what seemed like final judgment which caused me to think that i had died. i started walking up a staircase to the next plane of existence... i got to about the 2nd step when something tackled me...

i hadn't really made it vocal that i was taking a bong rip of salvia so no one stopped me from getting up... so i walked around the fire pit. and turns out that the "2nd step" was over the fire pit where there was a considerable fire going... i slammed my foot down into the coals. the salvia kept me from feeling any pain from this. and a girl tackled me out of the fire and into a tent which broke.

i came down at this point to a bunch of worried faces of my friends. i didn't know that i had stepped into the fire until they told me... looked at my foot to see a few minor 2nd degree burns, things could have been worse.

The point is that for that short duration of time, you will have no idea what you are saying or doing, anything that might ordinarily be very painful you might not feel at all...

You decide for yourself when you are ready or not, and if you really find it necessary to ask this board, I doubt you are. It's really something you have to be comfortable with yourself for.and no one can tell you that based on how many years you've lived, although 14 is generally to young.

salvia is punishing, if you absolutely have to use a psychedelic drug right now (absolutely won't back down), don't make it salvia

Agreed. Smoking salvia, if or when you try it, will likely be the most mind-blowing, earth-shattering, eye-opening experience of your entire life. You will see other worlds. You will meet strange and alien beings. You will forget who you are, where you are. You will lose all understanding of time and space. Reality will disappear before your eyes. Your soul might even leave your body.

These are things one cannot comprehend without salvia, DMT, or serious meditation. I advise you do not travel these waters until you've accrued a little more experience with psychedelics.

Notice that many of the people saying go for it are kids. You think you can get away with everything the younger you are. Just because you decided to do drugs at a young age does not mean that another person should. It will not hurt to wait until you are a bit older and more mature and have a stronger grip with who you are. Education is key, educate yourself on what you plan to do. Read more than a few Trip Reports. Read about the class of drugs, read about the dosages, legality, history, bad experiences as well as good ones.

Give it a miss this time around & concentrate on something else & in a few years the opportunity will most likely represesent itself & probably be in a better position to make a more informed judgement.

Good luck whatever you do :)

Great posts in this thread each & everyone <3 . I'm impressed, tho I ought to have expected it :)

seriously? you're urging someone to do drugs? man. this is a harm reduction forum, not the place for encouragement. salvia, when used without proper knowledge of the drug and the right precautions, can be incredibly detrimental to one's emotional well-being.

Well, I would like to see some open- and closed-eye visuals, so which drug can I use which wont fuck my brain up...

anyway, yes I know that these psychedelic drugs are not party drugs. :)

I didn't do any psychedlics at a young age. Not until adulthood, but I knew my mind wasn't ready until then. Are you sure yours is? Some of my trips have left me with anxiety and other psychological baggage that I didn't have to deal with before. If I had tripped earlier in life, this "baggage" would probably be life-destroying.

I really reccomend waiting several more years.

Well, asking a group of more experienced peers could be interpreted as a very sensible way of working toward the point of readiness, rather than an indication of unreadiness :)

yeah, I agree dys, wanted to rant at that person but decided against. :P

episilon6: salvia is known for its hard-hitting nature and many speculate it may cause PTSD easier than most psychedelics. combine with all the other risk factors involved here, and you're doing the opposite of what you should be doing on Bluelight by "urging" this person to smoke salvia in my opinion.

@OP: if you're just looking for visuals, might I suggest trying marijuana? it's also not harmless, but I think it's probably less of a risk for you than tripping is right now. as many have said, "visuals are a side effect of the psychedelic experience" - if you go in just looking for visuals you'll likely be in over your head...

The visuals are such small parts of it compared to the mind changes. By the time you're seeing visuals, you're thought patterns will be so changed that you will barely feel like the visuals are important (at least that's how it was for me in the beginning).

There isn't really anything that doesn't change your thought patterns and only makes colors. 2C-I and 2C-B are probably the closest, but they are far from just patterns. Plus who knows completely what they do to your brain. I get two day head aches after them, so I'm not sure about their toxicity.

I think what people have said about not being able to relate to your peers is serious thing to consider. I don't relate to my peers as well anymore and I'm almost 21, and they all know about what I do and aren't weirded out by it because everyone's seen this stuff before.

When I was 14, I would have been freaked out by a person doing what I was doing. If they told me that's what they were doing, I would have been uncomfortable.

wait 4 years then come ask that question again. if you are indeed serious about taking your first experience make sure your life is in order first then do a light trip if it effects your life drastically or a good amount wait a while then try again. dont get into the habit of doing drugs all the time either if you decide to embark upon the path of drugs; keep its a sacred and unique experience that should be done in only the best environments and around the best people.

also are your ready to except all of the social stigma's of being a druggie?
