A good practice is that when getting a new batch of dope- i.e. every time you acquire a new baggie, don't believe the dealer when they say it's the same as last time- take your initial shot based on the assumption of 100% purity. How much would you do if this was absolutely pure? Then titrate up at reasonable intervals on successive shots. I don't even think the heroin-fentanyl mixtures that the media made a fuss about would be strong enough to cause an OD with this method.

This is more of an issue with coke; there's a MUCH smaller difference between good hit and overdose than with opiates.

This is a very important point that couldn't be stressed often enough!

There's nothing wrong with injecting alone (at least, not any more so than injecting with other people).

This is not correct and goes against all the research into this important harm reduction message. Being alone when injecting has consistently been found to be a key "risk factor" in fatal overdose. If you want the references let me know and I'll post them.

I'm sure I'll catch flack for this, but it's true: It's very hard to overdose. Just one man's opinion, but I think that people who overdose, especially multiple times, are just idiots.

You'll cop flack for this because it's counter harm reduction and it's incorrect. There are a range of factors that come into play in overdose situations.

And that FAQ contains dangerous misinformation that goes against all the available evidence. There's plenty of very good quality research into the areas that you pretend to know lots about. Do some reading and stop talking out of your hat.

i personally think you should only inject alone if you have experience. Also, in the spirit of harm reduction, very douschey to say but , no one should tell you to upgrade to injecting, especially alone. If you HAVE to inject, or its inevitable, have a spotter/sitter, msybe practice with water first (thats what i did, and i was alone when i first injected, *sigh). Just be safe and dont use alot, remember that for alot of opiates injecting is about equiv to ~4-5x the dose, my dad is an anesthesiologist and told me oral to iv morphine is 10-1 but i think hes wrong and it aint that hugh but hes a pain management specialist and im not so what dp i know. Just be safe!

i dont agree shooting up with anyone but myself. god forbid if anything happens to the other person, i will live with the guilt, on top of that go back to jail possibly face new charges..i rather leave that habit to my own damn self.

There are always what-ifs and hypotheticals, don't be an ass.

You can do a shot of heroin right, and end up doing 3 times the amount you 'normally' do, and probably still be fine (unless you routinely do monster doses). I find that the human body is extremely resilient - how else could it survive someone injecting street drugs every day, all the nasty dirt we must inject inadvertently, et cetera?

i agree and disagree with what you are saying as far as taking 3x ur usual heroin dose IV'ed and being fine and survive. in my experience 2bags IVed would bring me good, an hour later i would shoot 2 more bags, with a slight increase in high overall(however i could feel the potential for an overdose if i were to do a tad bit more). however on the otherhand, doing 3x your amount at once could be fatal...for example: me and my friend used to go to the spot almost everyday and shoot 2 bags and be nice and high and just walk around downtown; well one friday evening we only had $20, copped 2 bags. my friend impatient as he is, and paranoid, wants to slam his bag ASAP, so he runs into a Mcdonalds bathroom stall and does his deed...only 1 bag....(which we were a little upset figuring that we prolly would only get a lil buzz) im impatiently waiting myself to get in that bathroom stall to get high and he is taking FOREVER. finally he comes out, ignores me, walks right out of mcdonalds, into the parking lot, starting acting real weird and completely smashed like he did way too much; next thing i know he loses balance, in which i try to save his fall, and he lands in the parking lot, before i know it, his face and palms, lips were all purple/blue..his skin looked grey, and he looked stiff, i thought this kid was DEAD, i was scared to DEATH, what happened!?!? he did only 1 bag!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!! before we were doing 2 bags IVed at once and only got "right". i ended up having to call 911 and having help from employees bring ice water out, smack him up hard, CPR, all that, still no response, me being on parole i thought i was fucked and going back to jail, plus if he dies on me, i will lose a friend and prolly do 10 years in prison additional, so im scared shitless...loyalty first im not leaving him for dead..anyway took paramedics 19 minutes too arrive, but before they came we revived him and he finally came half conscious. thANK GOD

the point im trying to make on that is doing 3x ur normal "get off" dose can be fatal dude, im sure the bag we had prolly was equivalent to bout 4-5 bags of the regular shit we got..but its a luck of the draw....but like i said shooting 2 bags gives me a nice rush and high, i cant imagine dumping 6 bags into a spoon and shooting it all at once(3x my norm) im pretty sure i would overdose from that because sometimes just the rush of the 2 bags gets me a little like "woah"...
