Probally not. It sounds like a good idea in theory but just think how many people would end up completly fried.......
because people was better in the begining of ecstasy rise. and any drug even in the right hands can be a disaster and especially this one. only the fact that your brain needs at least 3 months to recover from it says that its very bad. i see so many people fucked up in all the ways from e for good. dont need more.purplefirefly said:Would you mind explaining why you feel this way?
Agree completely. Ecstasy should be legal IMO.AuraithX said:Drugs should be treated as a social problem - not a criminal one. You're not hurting anyone by taking drugs except yourself.

2. Lawsuits - I'm sure everyone is aware of all the lawsuits being brought against the tobacco industry...take a guess how many lawsuits will be brought up for drugs.....notice all the regulation and laws surrounding cigarettes? Legal drugs means MORE LAWS, MORE REGULATION AND MORE GOVERNMENT, higher taxes and higher insurance rates.
3. Campaign corruption: The tobacco industry owns many politicians now - can you imagine the drug industry? We'd have politicians selling out to the drug companies instead of tobacco companies. And if one is tempted to argue that the government already is selling out to the drug lords - well, think how much that would increase if it could be done legally.
4. Do people really think that drugs will not be taxed? They will - in fact it is the tax FROM the drugs that is proposed to pay for all the new drug rehabilitation programs that will be put in place.
Has anyone considered that the reason that people committed a crime was because they were ON drugs in the first place - legal or not? That they weren't necessarily committing a crime to get illegal drugs, but the drugs themselves caused a violent behavior (which would not magically go away if the drugs were legal) which lead them to committing a crime - something that would not have happened if they had not TAKEN drugs? In actuality, crime will rise when drugs are legal because more people will be taking drugs. Crime is high in high-drug use areas not because people are committing a crime to get drugs, but the influence of the drugs made them more inclined to commit a crime.
In addition, unless the most harmful and addictive drugs such as crack and heroin are made legal, people will still be drawn to these "black market" drugs.
How about young children and teenagers? They won't be able to purchase drugs, just as they can't purchase alcohol. Pushers would then concentrate on young people, and how will they learn to say no to pushers when they see their parents getting high with the consent of the government? Legalization would create a large group of new drug users - children.

Well put!.!.!!!purplefirefly said:Don't you think that legalization would provide safety to those who choose to use? Let the government regulate AND tax it for heaven's sakes! Let them put the FDA stamp of approval on drugs that are currently street drugs. I would GLADLY pay a "Peace of Mind" tax if I knew that the substance I was going to ingest into my body was of a known dosage and purity.
Legality would allow for MUCH NEEDED research on many drugs so that basic information would become readily available to the people who were using. Think of all the people who would benefit from mdma therapy, but they aren't able to get it now because the substance is illegal.
Legality has NOTHING to do with whether or not people (and children for that matter) are able to obtain a drug. If someone wants a drug they will get it. The black market may make it a little more difficult, but it's not even close to being impossible.
Are teenagers now being prevented from using illicit substances, or even legal substances such as alcohol and tobacco? Nope, if there is a will then there is a way. Why not make it safer by mass producing lab quality substances. Maybe if drugs were legal we wouldn't have people dying from taking "ecstasy" that is actually PMA, or we wouldn't have people dying from "heroin" overdoses that was actually fentayl or an analog.
The only people who would want to see drugs kept illegal are those who do not care about harm reduction or education.
