I have tapered to one 7.5mg tablet one a day for the past two days. If I stop taking them now will I have withdrawals. Thanks

Could someone please help me with this I have tapered down to 7.5mg one only in the morning for three days. Should I just stop? Dr gave me a two month supply and I don't need to keep taking them. Please tell me what to do. I don't want to have a problem. Thanks

Hi Jayne
Have you noticed any discomfort since going down to 7.5 mg a day? If you've only been doing 15 mg a day for a month with no prior opiate use I highly doubt you will have any noticeable withdrawal. If no prior use I think your best bet would to be cold turkey. If you do have withdrawal it will be very short and probably no worse than a cold. I applaud you quitting wanting quit now. I'm so jealous of you. The first time I stopped doing oxycodone I had been doing 35-40 mg everyday for 2 n half months I didn't have any physical withdrawal but did have a lot of psychological withdrawal . If anything that is probably all you will experience so do stuff that makes you happy and keep busy treat yourself everyday for like a week and bam you'll be over it. I wish I had stay quit my first time even tho it wasn't my choice I just couldn't score. Now 1.5 ish year later tryin quit a 130mg a day habit and well the mental part is a lot harder and the physical part bleh. Hope I helped keep us updated

Thank you so much for responding. The only symptom I had going to 7.5mg were stomach cramps that I took inmodium for. While waiting for a response I have cut the 7.5 in half as best I can tell. Had some more stomach cramps and took another immodium. Today the cramps are gone. I will do this until Sunday and then I'm throwing them out. I was put on oxycodone two years back for major surgery and was on them for six months. My doctor tapered me off and I was uncomfortable for a couple of weeks. Does this sound like a good plan? The stories I've read scared the crap out of me. Thanks for helping me

Yes if you keep cutting down by Sunday you should be ready quit. I doubt you'll have any bad effects. by no means will it be fun but I think the tapper you are doing will take care of most if not all withdrawal. Probably all. Might have some cravings but get mad at that shit it's not worth it. I decided I had enough today(a lil to late) if I tried 2 months ago I would have 10 grand in my bank and not negative 400. So today I went to a rehab I called first they said come on. I get their they can't get me in blah blah blah. I need help I want quit but have had no success on my own have tried many times and lost family almost my wife. And I can't get the help until posinnly July. But I'm doing it this time on my own I no I can but I've known I can a few times. Sorry ramble but just quit while your symptoms are manageable because when you need help stoping you may not get it. i can't imagine quiting a 300mg a day habit and I know people at that dose they never thought they would be their either but truth is if we don't stop we will end up their or on heroin. Sorry again ramble your doing awesome hope to hear more good news next time.

Thanks again. No cramps at all yesterday. Woke up feeling good. I'm praying you can get help. These pills are unbelievable. They need to produce an antivenom pill to counteract the withdrawals. Lol. Will keep you updated when I stop at 1/8 of the 15mg Monday. Praying for you. ❤️ I know about high doses. When I had surgery a couple of years ago they had me on 30mg 4-6x a day.

Great to know that you are doing well Jayne3 and I truly hope FatCatOpie will get through his share of problems related to quitting.

I am currently tapering down from 140mg daily use of oxycodone due really bad back pain which luckily got fixed by latest surgery. I have been able to taper down 10mg per week and I am currently on 70mg per day so it is half way to opiate free times.

My Dr. is truly a god send for me since he simply asked how I would like to taper off and I told him that I would like to taper 10mg per week until I reach 10mg and then I would switch to 5mg and then quit and he just said Ok. I also asked him to get me a contract with local pharmacy so instead of getting multi month supply of drugs at once I'll get my drugs twice a week so I can't use more than I am supposed and can't go Dr. shopping either as only my current Dr's clinic can prescribe painkillers and similar CNS acting drugs.

Also he put me on waiting list for somnography or whatever the english term is for test in which you sleep on hospital and they check for sleep related issues such as RLS or similar. I did experience RLS symptoms before starting oxycodone so my Dr. said that stopping opiates will give rebound symptoms as the RLS had been treated with opiates during this time and they will need to get some medication for me if RLS comes back after quitting.

He also said I can go to counceling anytime if need arises and he'll give prescription to sleep aids and klonopins for treating RLS asap I start having symptoms and I'll get appointment to psychiatrist if PAWS or similar long term withdrawal symptoms appear.

Sounds like you have a great Doctor. I'm literally taking a crumb and will be throwing them out Monday. Good luck with your taper and very smart to pick them up biweekly. Keep us posted❤️

stay the course Jayne 3

Count me in as one of the jelious fools that didn't think/care about the future if I continued to stay on opiates. I have a very long list of wreckage directly related to active addiction as many on B/L can relate to. I applaud you for your decision to get of the pills NOW. You'll feel a little out of sorts for a bit but it won't be that bad or for very long. If I could only go back to where you're at and do the right thing as you've chosen to do I wouldn't have destroyed my life. It's a daily battle once one has crossed the invisible line. It started the same way for me, legitimate pain but I continued to use because I it filled some void in my life so I took the chicken shit way out instead of finding constructive methods or trying to find the source and work on my issues. And of course I loved to get high. I traded just about everything of value to me for drugs , my life would have been so different had I done what you're doing. I don't open up like this on a forum or pretty much any time but I just wanted you to know you're making probably the most important choice of your life. And for anyone who scoffs at what I've said, come back in 30 years and tell me how great active addiction it, if your still around because half of my friends are no longer here.

Thanks Alwaysherenow. Today I took my last crumb of oxy. Thre the bottle away. Now I'm getting a little scared what will happen. I refuse to take them out of the garbage and just keep a few just in case. Will keep you posted. I am praying for you❤️

reservations

No real difference between trash can or top drawer of the dresser. At some point we must pay the piper. Right now the cost for you is minimal. You can still get to then so once you feel short of stable I'm guessing you'll want just 1 more little chip "just to take the edge off ".There is something to be said about continuing to taper lower daily just be honest with yourself. If you have a bad day a whole pill may seem like a good idea during a week moment. If I had the chance to be where you're at again knowing what I know I'd flush them so sticking with the plan would be my only choice, but it's up to you. As it stands right now you won't feel that bad, a little low energy for a few days then freedom. Our addiction lies to us "I'll just throw them in the trash for now ".I've done that because I can always get to them just in case. Your choice but it will probably never be as easy for you again as the opportunity you have right now. I'm pulling for ya but it comes down to a decision. What choice you make right now could change the course of your life forever. I ve been exactly where your at right now. I already mentioned which path I took.

Alwaysherenow. Garbage man took the garbage yesterday. First morning with no crumb. It's been 24 hours and so far so good. Have a little stomach ache that's it. Good riddance oxycodone
