i take seoque to sleep ( amongst other things) and maybe its because i just started, but when i take it i don't fall asleep right away, but once i'm asleep, i sleep for like 14 hours, and feel really groggy in the morning, do you get this, i also wake up during the night drenched in sweat someties which is very unpleasant...

apart from those side effects, its proved to be more effective than any hypnotic benzo

how much are you taking? I take 75 mg a night and sleep for about 9 to 10 hours and wake up refreshed....

some people need it, some don't....when i sleep on it i have intense dreams which means you are getting quality sleep...
And you SHOULD be groggy when you wake up...and then fully awake 45 minutes to an hour and half later....

OH WAIT...i saw that you mix it with other things??? One time i took a xanax (.75mg) with it and din't wake up for like 15 hours and felt like SHIT the whole next day....even after drinking a ton of caffeine i couldn't wake up...

Seroquel''s the best thing I've found for sleep...I take 100 mg for sleeping, and usually sleep about 9 hours or so. Which is a bit longer than I sleep off of zolpidem, but it's been more consistent for me. 300 is a bit much for sleep - that's above the dose used for mood stabilizing, and I'm straddling the sleep aid / mood stabilizer line as it is. And combining it with other benzos is clearly not helping - see how the seroquel affects you without benzos first, and then try to figure dosage out.

Whenever I take a seroquel, which isn't very often (not even once a year), I like to play the sandwich game. I try to make a sandwich and eat it before I pass the fuck out for a good day.

I take 25 mg seroquel for sleep and fall asleep after 45 minutes and only sleep for 8 hours and wake up totally refreshed.

I find if I take seroquel 25 mg with clonazepam or valium that I wake up the next day so groggy and sleepy still and feeling like I can't get out of bed. Or if I take the seroquel and take any heroin that same night I find I wake up the next day tired still.

I would try your seroquel without the benzo's. Also 300mg is way too much to just be helping with sleep. 300mg is the amount you take for bipolar or schizophrenia.

I was given seroquel for sleep and as needed for daytime anxiety, I took 50mg at 9 in the morning and at 5 after eating at a diner I got up to use the bathroom and as I Pushed the door I fainted and bashed my face on the sink on my way down and came too a few seconds later, tried to get up but it happened again and instead hit my chin on the same sink lol. This is satans choice of drug as far as I'm concerned and yeah the groggy feeling ain't great either.

Why are we praising neuroleptics so much? Seroquel carries serious risks to health, some of which can be permanent. It should be used very carefully, if at all.

When the benefits outweigh the risks, antipsychotics are a very viable and valued option that allows hundreds of thousands of people live better lives.

^ Oof, is that for schizophrenia? That's rough. My doc suggested I try 200 mg once a day but I haven't wanted to go up that high. Plus, that shit's expensive.

Im scared to take 800mg once nightly as prescribed

That is a huge dose. I don't want to sound like a scaremonger but such doses, when used for longer periods (several years), may cause irreversible side effects and damage to your brain. But if you're prescribed such a dose, I guess you're in the need of it. Still, usually only severely schizophrenic people are prescribed such high doses.

If I were you I'd ask the doctor or psychiatrist who prescribed it if such a monster dose really is necessary.

I took quetiapine 4 years for insomnia, 100 mg. Read too much nasty stuff about it and stopped using it. Since then I've used melatonin and/or mirtazapine for sleep.

In the beginning quetiapine makes you extremely tired, lethargic and zombified during daytime but this side effects disappears once your receptors become desensitized. I always got a very stuffy nose from it, sometimes blocking my nose completely. This was due to Seroquel being a powerful antihistamine. Often I had to take nasal spray to get sleep (I have to breath with my nose when I sleep).

I've said it several times but for severe insomnsia, like the OP is taking quetiapine for, try mirtazapine. It's just so much more benign. Its initial sedating effect is IME equally powerful as quetiapine and you don't get much nasty side effects. And, paradoxically, smaller doses of mirtazapine are more sedating than higher (if you don't take monster doses of 60+ mg).

Don't let the sandwich game fool you. I only trust taking these once a year maybe, and haven't taken them in at least 3 years. They can do the trick, but I think they are dangerous, and I don't need them, obviously, but I feel bad for the people they throw on tons of it that could maybe be better off with a non antipsychotic. Just $0.02

Agree completely, it saddens me to read about people being prescribed AP's for insomnia (like I was).

I take 700mg seroquel w/ mirtazapine for sleep. I find that this helps me get 6 hours sleep regularly as to 1 to 2 hours per night if lucky. Have been on this script for several years now and would recommend to anyone with PTSD problems.

^ Christ, taking that much Seroquel for sleep is crazy! According to my psychiatrist, he will sometimes prescribe 25-50 mg for sleep, 100-300 mg as a mood stabilizer, and 700-900 mg for schizophrenia. I'm on the mood stabilizing dose, but I tend to take it later in the day because it does help go to sleep, even if I'm a bit desensitized to it. Taking 700 mg for sleep is IMO extremely unnecessary and dangerous - there are other much safer medications that can be used as sleep aids. Seroquel is a complicated anti-psychotic - it can do a lot of good if prescribed by a cautious, informed doctor, but I'm a bit baffled that your doctor gave you a script for 700 mg of Seroquel to treat insomnia. And with mirtazapine on top of it? Granted, I know next to nothing about the tetracyclic antidepressants...I'm never been on them, and I haven't encountered a lot of studies or information about their pros and cons.

uh...praising? I and others specifically said FOR ME IT WORKS...lol....

700 is a bit much but traz and ambien do nothing and below 300 mg does nothing. I do know that most people only need 25-100 and sleep well. What i need is different from what you need I guarentee.

It's an antihistamine at lower doses. Great for sleep. An antipsychotic at high doses like the one ur on... Might make u feel flat during the day.. Few thoughts thru ur head, an bored... I get this and so do friends ... Try a lower dose so u don't sleep as long. Like 100mg is a high enuf dose by a long shot 50-75 should be good but 100 if that's not doing it for u. Good luck

Liv

Also u could try benadryl ... Diphenhydramine ... Anti histamine. Works well for me at doses over 100mg.

I was prescribed 1000mg of seroquel a day.

400XR in the morning and 600IR at night.

Needless to say my RLS and tardive dyskinesia post use seems permanent :\.
