Misc seroquel questions

could you explain to me why quetiapine is considered a bad drug with many health risks? I take 600mg daily for psychosis. Thanks

@joj2006 It carrys a risk of neuroleptic malignant syndrome, which is like a series of seizures and muscle spasms accompanied by a very high fever. But tgats generally not considered a big risk if your alreadt stabilised on a dose (i think.lol). In the longterm seroquel can make changes in the way your brain works, resulting in detrimental effects on motor control in the main with restless leg syndrone and tardive dyskinesia. However these risks will have been weighed against the risks caused by your condition by your doctor and he/she has decided that it will benefit you. 600mg daily is a sensible dose for psychosis and I cant stress enough how important it is that you continue to take them and if you still have concerns then please talk to your doctor before stopping them. You have got to remember that alot of these guys are taking it for sleep and in alot of cases thats overkill for insomnia and not worth the risks. In your case prescribed for psychosis its completely appropiate and much safer then not medicating. Any other questions or details needed just let me know and ill dig up some info for you. I have a fair bit of experience with a few mental health issues and if I can help im happy too.:-)

Seroquel isnt recreational at all and shouldnt be taken unless under the advise of a doctor. You could cause serious harm to someone by supplying it, including death. Anyway thats all academic because the BLUA is surely being infracted by your post. Asking how much a drug is worth on the street would im sure be classed as sourcing which is disallowed here.

^just a question about seroquel if you don't mind answering since u seem to know more about it than i do.

would taking 25mg-50mg to kill a psychedelic trip cause any issues? or any potential for issues? I like how it knocks me out so well but don't want to end up having weird interactions. I suppose i could look into this myself right now but i am coming up pretty hard.

Ive no experience with rhis one myself so its just an educated guess but seroquel is effective for endinf mushroom trips so should be effective for escaline. It should dull the visuals alittle and promote you to sleep the rest of the trip off. If you can though it would prob be healthier to just ride it out or take the seroquel after the trip peak but I dont know of any bad interaction with seroquel and traditional hallucinagens. Good luck :-)

well it seems that seroquel completely kills a trip in 30 minutes or so at 50mg. It also left me groggy as shit the next day and i slept 12 hours straight. I hate seroquel but it does have some uses. I hope the side effects go away in a week or two.

so I just was scrounging around in my aunts medicene cabinet (honestly for good intentions, I was tryin to find pepto bismol) and turns out she has a script for seroquel.... does anybody have any experience with this stuff or does anybody know what it's like? I jacked like 5 50mg pills but don't really know to much about em.

Firstly, don't steal meds from the people they were prescribed for.

i just found a script of seroquel 50mg are they worth anything street value wise?

Secondly, so now you want to know how much you can get for them.
Please read BLUA and Other Drugs Posting Standards before you post again.
Seriously!

I took 50-100 for sleep for awhile. It worked well but it would give me major major sugar cravings. Then, after I got off of Suboxone I noticed the seroquel would give me god awful restless legs. Thankfully I no longer need the stuff.

I just dont understand why doctors are prescribing an anti-psychotic for insomnia! Surely any of the benzos, z-drugs or massive list of sedating anti-histamines would be a better option? treating a relatively benign medical problem like insomnia with powerful drugs like seroquel is like trying the to tap in a picture hook with a sledgehammer!lol if benzos or z-drugs are ineffective or in appropiate for the patient then mirtazapine, amitriptyline or trazadone should be the next step. Absolute madness !lmao

I take about 200mg to sleep a night. i do feel kind of groggy in the morning but its usually gone by the time i get to work which is like an hour.

^^That's how a normal sleep cycle (with or without drugs) should be. You should have dreams that you remember, wake up groggy, and then feel fully awake 30 min- hour later.

Im surprised no one has mentioned the hideous weight gain from Quietapine (Seroquel) and other AAP (atypical anti-psychotics).

Shredded lettuce, I agree completley with your above comment. On reading my post a second time I xan see that I should of put sleeplessness not insomnia. I suffer myself from insomnia, both difficulty in initiating sleep and a large number of nocturnal awakings. Im actually prescribed zopiclone and mirtazapine because of the level of my sleep problems. Im well aware of how horrible and debilitating true insomnia is.:-( Im just disgusted by the inappropiate prescribing that seems t commonly take place regarding sleeping issues. Thank you very much for pointing out my error as the comment wasnt in anyway meant the way it read.lol

After using seroquel for a couple weeks i've determined that i fucking hate it. That grogginess kills me, it lasts 3-4 hours and i wake up so irritated, grumpy and unmotivated. Like others mention, it is almost impossible to wake up. The side effects are horrible, the medication is horrible and my Dr is just as bad for prescribing it to me for anxiety. Not going back to him again.

I think it's completely inappropriate this medication is handed out like candy for sleep issues. It's great to kill a trip or a stim binge but that's it, not for every day use by any means. Then the weigh gain, depression, restlessness, totally not worth it. Even for antipsychotic medication there are better alternatives.
