Hey, I've been taking hydromorphone for just over 2 years now. I'm averaging 96mg/day, and I'd really like to stop.

At first, I thought I could maybe just take less, or even taper in order to make withdrawal more comfortable, but it's become obvious that I just don't have the willpower to do it.

Looking in my medicine cabinet, I actually seem to have anything I could need to make this easier:

Lyrica and Neurontin
Baclofen
Clonazepam, Oxazepam, and zopiclone
Clonidine
Loperamide
All sorts of NSAIDs
Hydroxyzine
And my favorite, ondansetron/Zofran (though I don't have much left)

(Also tons of dexedrine and some antipsychotics, though I don't see myself using those)

With this kind of toolbox, should I expect to be at all functional, or am I going to need a solid week of doing nothing?

And for the last while, I've been plugging the majority of what I take, and I'm really worried about agonizing cramps as a result - any advice for this?

Also, I have a fair bit of naltrexone somewhere (maybe it's naloxone) - would it be a bad idea to use it to just get the whole thing over with more quickly?

Any other tips would be greatly appreciated as well.

I'm sure you'll get lots of good advice. My best advice is don't get dependant on benzos in the process.

Thanks. I've been using benzos for even longer, and used them compulsively at first, but it's not something I've ever been dependent on or have had any addictive tendencies towards for quite a while. Used only a few times in the last few months, despite having hundreds of pills in my nightstand. Opiates though, have been a different story entirely... :/

I suggest taking that week off from work if you can.

Don't do that. After going through agonizing precipitated withdrawal, you will still experience regular withdrawals for the same amount of time that you normally would.

Your completely Set.. Neurontin Neurontin Neurontin Neurontin!! It will take about 50-60% of your withdrawals away.. Take it before you even come close to withdrawling.. Like what I did was took the Neurontin when i was about to go to sleep.. And had nothing for the morning nor was planning on scoring.. So take it at night.. Also Use the clonodine or anxiety meds to your advtange as needed.. more at night for sleep.. the Neurontin is going to make you drowsey and hungry.. Your completely set.. I'm not saying pain free by no means.. It's not going to be a cake walk as I'm sure you already know.. but the Neurontin in your cabinent will ease it ALOT.. That's the only way I could make it though stopping and I was taking about 600mgs a day of oxy's when I quit.

Day 3 of being completely off, and holy crap - I'm feeling nothing. A crapload of Lyrica and some clonidine (REALLY helps with that intense wired feeling, and restlessness). I'm a bit loopy from the Lyrica, but other than that, and the occassional craving, I'm very good. Heck, I felt worse from a previous, unaided detox from a much lower dose after only 2 months...

I mean, it doesn't make sense to me. I should at least be in some pain. This is way too easy.

Im so glad its goong wrll for you.

I was not so lucky, but i also didnt have access to all the meds you have.

What are all the medications are you taking? I find it incredible, you are doin so well. I was not even talking. I really couldn't, i was in terrible pain by day three. I was taking just xanax and clonidine.

I had a bunch of neurontin at the time. If I had only knew the effects it would have on my withdraw at the time. :(

Im really glad its working for you, i wouldnt wish opiate withdra on anyone. U know....

I was in the bath every five minutes (lots of bathes really helped me) and throwing up and my entire body was crawling. I thought i would die. Not a joke, i really thought i would die. It was the worst thing i ever went thru. I am currently in xanax wd but it is coming to an end.
