PS: On that whole "racking the action on a shotgun is enough", that sort of foolishness can get people killed, and I feel the same way about less-lethal rounds. In both scenarios you just lost the element of surprise, and even gave away your general location at that. You willing to be your life on the person hearing that and bolting? Or that rock salt incapacitating him? It's your life, but I'll tell you this much, not only would I not bet mine on it, but if I were (hypothetically) in the other position, and someone hit me with a load of rock salt, I'd empty on him; not out of spite, but out of reflex. Don't try to half-ass it when firearms are involved.
