SEEKING TREATMENT (The Clinic...)

Meant to say, it's how I ended up on 32mg, waking up in pain and not being able to move until dosing and it just wasn't lasting 24 hours. Instead of suggesting splitting, he just kept putting ir up up up. It was actually someone on another forum that suggested splitting snd I was instantly better. I could potentially have stayed on a lower dose.

Yeah, I don't have an option yet to split my dose as I have to go in to the clinic every single day. M-F they are only open till 10am, weekends they dose between 5am-7am. I have to have 3 months clean to get weekend take homes, and I think an entire year clean to get a full week of take homes. So...yeah, no option. It sucks. I wish so much I could be more in control of when I dose and how much because it seems like it'd be the answer to so many problems.

Wow, that's crazy strict for bupe! Nearly as bad as methadone. Im not sure how the public program is here but my private dr is super laid back and I only had supervised doses for a few weeks from memory, then bi weekly and I've been only weekly pick up with no supervision for the majority of the time I've been on it. And I've not once been drug tested!

I thought one of the main benefits of suboxone/subutex was to make it simpler/less controlled. What does your dr say about waking up sick etc? Mine just kept putting my dose up which probably wasn't necessary, I wish I had known to split it earlier as that's the only thing thay brought relief regardless of how high my dose got. Crazy, I wish you had other options, it's not fun having to go through that.

I always recieved sixty 8mg subutex pills everytime I went to the doctor. I went once month, and I was required to take a UA (just a simple dip/panel test).

I am soooooooooo excited to jump off fucking methadone. I have grown so sick of dealing with the clinic bullshit here in the US. Sometime in the next two or three weeks I will have completed my transition to buprenorphine through a private MD my psychiatrist referred me to. Just wanted to check in and say hi here :)

Sorry I haven't checked in in awhile. I've been pretty bummed. I seem to be stuck at 8mg. Can't handle the jump down from that. And I have to admit, I don't feel that great at 8mg. I don't want to go back to 12mg, but I don't know what to do. I'm having to use my benzo's to supplement the 8mg Bupe just to get through the day. And that sucks. Should I go back to 12mg and try the drop to 8mg later on? Will it always be this way while I'm trying to continue the taper? Could really use some words of encouragement. Thanks guys.

Also, does anyone know how long you have to go to the clinic before you start getting take homes? I thought if your pre test was good for 3 months, you got to at least get weekend take homes?? I have no idea how long you have to be in there before you get a weeks worth of take homes. I have my monthly meeting with my counselor tomorrow. Guess I can go over all this with her. Just curious if you guys knew??

Yeah, each clinic has different policies and procedures which you would be really good to familiarize yourself with. They should have a patient handbook or some such material they give new clients. Read that again for info. Ultimately though it is up to the clinic manager and the prescribing doctor when and whether or not you get take homes.

Just a check in. I like to post my progress in case there is anyone else out there going through the tapering process like me. I've managed to get down to 4mg a day. And not feel crappy! Yay! I got my weekend take homes now...kind of hoarding those since my clinic doesn't go below 2mg and I figure I can use my supply to cut in halves until I'm all the way off. Also doing really good with the benzo taper. Looks like I'll be off those in about 2 months. Really happy with my progress. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!!! Never thought I'd get to the day where I'd no longer have to be on meds. Scared and happy at the same time!

Good stuff. Keep it up!

That is very sound thinking jay. Jumping at 2mg is going to be a nightmare. Keep up the progress. This is the most important thing. As long as you keep moving forward you will never have to get where you were before.

Congrats Jay! That is so FUCKING AWESOME to hear, I am so proud of you. You have come a tremendous way. Your experience tapering off has been just like mine. Everyone was like, "once you get under 20mg everything changes," but by 12mg it wasnt much different. Maybe I had a bit more drive, but no withdrawal or cravings. And then everyone was like, "once you get under 10mg everything changes," but by 6mg the only difference was that I was getting laid more and I had started working out again. Then, everyone way lile, "at 5mg everything changes." I was like, well, uh, fuck you guys :D

But seriously, ttue story %)

Dobt believe everything you think.
Dont believe everything youre told.
