(Secobarbital) - First Time - Secobarbital is Gods Drug!

A friend of mine emailed me the other day bragging about the Seconal (secobarbital) he had gotten... i figured i'd post his email (with his permission of course) about the substance since it's such a rarity these days.

I got my Seconal (secobarbital sodium) filled last night, finally.
It took almost 40 phone calls to the same number of different
pharmacies to find someone who could at least order it. All the
rest of them said that it was 'no longer available.' I called
bullshit on that, having talked to the senior vp at Marathon
Pharmaceuticals (the sole manufacturer of the drug) who confirmed
that it was not only being made for sale in the USA, but sales were
rocketing on it. He confirmed that many wholesale distributors,
who sell in turn to the big chains like Walgreens, CVS, etc., had
regular orders and sales of the drug...

...and what a WONDERFUL drug it is! I can see why the government
works so hard to eliminate barbiturates. THEY FEEL GOOD! The
closest thing I have to compare this with is a quaalude I got my
hands on in 1987. I took the thing orally, as prescribed. The
dosage was 100mg. The capsule is this tiny little evil looking red
bugger. You can feel the aura of intoxication just spilling off
the pill even before you take it (okay, that's probably all in my
head there...but a trip report should include as much info as
possible, yes?).

0:00PM I took it with about 12 oz. of Gatorade.
9:01 I didn't notice anything.
9:02 rolls around and I'm starting to feel like I've got the wrong idea about this drug.
9:03...you get the picture. I was clearly anticipating a miracle,
and impatient as hell for it to finally present.
9:40 rolls around and I was certain I'd been drugged. Oh wait. I drugged
myself. Yes, that was it. Little red capsule and orange Gatorade;
the colors in my stomach must look like a traffic accident. No
matter what, i can't keep my eyes more than half open. Once I
force them open, they slide right back down like oiled rubber over
a steel pinball.
The muscles on my scalp are taking turns feeling
happy. Each one, including my facial muscles, relaxes for a few
seconds and fills up with a warm, tingly sensation. I want to
smile, but having looked at myself in the mirror I realize a smile
might just scare the paint off the walls.

I felt like I was VERY drunk, but with no dizziness, nausea,
headache or any of the negative things about being smashed. Also,
I didn't have to piss every hour like I do when I'm drunk. Things
are slow. I saw a bat cross the parking lot of the church across
the street and my eyes couldn't track quickly enough to keep it in
focus.

Seconal was prescribed to me because I couldn't sleep. 144 hours
straight with no sleep at all. Around 10:45, I finally stopped
fighting the drowsiness that my condition and the drug were pushing
on me and plopped my sorry ass into bed.

I woke up at 6:00AM this morning and felt amazing. Rested, sure,
but also sort of 'emotionally euphoric' if that makes sense. Not
really like an opiate body-euphoria, except the concept is the
same. Also, no hangover effect at all. I expected to feel groggy
and zombie-like this morning, having heard all the horror stories
about barbiturates and their power.

I can see why this is on Schedule II...but I do NOT agree with
removing the drug from the market all together. Like quaaludes,
this stuff DOES have legitimate uses. The puritanical fuckers who
would have Prohibition reinstated need to move to a country of
their own, where they can preach their intolerance and hatred and
ignorance to their own satisfaction.

My doctor only gave me 7 of these Fantastic, Awesome, Amazing
Seconals. Now I've got 6 as I took one last night. I have an
appointment with a neurologist next week to discuss this problem
with sleeping I have; I'm hoping to talk him into writing this
script for a longer period of time and more pills.

To sum up: SECOBARBITAL SODIUM IS GOD'S OWN DRUG AND SHOULD BE
FREELY GIVEN TO ALL US SHEEP! ALL HAIL SECONAL!

Curiously enough I was just reading up on this stuff after I heard someone looking for it and others saying it is more readily available online than you would believe. My gut tells me most are scams though, but who knows. Anyway I didn't come here to discuss sources.

Kind of funny writing, thanks for the read. Made me smile a little. ;)

I only have phenobarbital and did not try it yet. Sounds like crap though, not even close to the other barbiturates.

Respiratory depression really tends to scare me though, benzo's are mostly fine as long as they are not combined. Barbiturates too, but apparently less so.

Seconal sounds like one of the nice barbiturates and I would try it. What were they called again in the old days, reds or something?

^Yeah, reds. They are small, coated, red pills. I was given like 100 of them once. It was like taking a high dose of alprazolam without the amnesia. Not too exciting. I tried mixing it with LSD once and it damn near cancelled out my trip. I threw most of them away.

Your friend has a funny way of expressing himself. I like it!

I've never tried barbs actually, and no this report as sparked my interest.
It must be pretty rare that they prescribe these drugs for insomnia, isnt it?

Are they similar to drugs like seroquel in which its basically impossible to keep awake on?

You are really not missing much. It is a pretty boring high. I know though, it is nice to know what a drug feels like.

As my friend put it, and i found out for myself recently, secobarbital is like the best of alcohol and benzodiazepines without any of the negatives. Plus something extra... There's a sort of clarity to the intoxication.

You feel like you've been drugged but not in the normal sense... it isn't medicated feeling, it's natural and just seems right. The weird thing was when i tried it i forgot that i wanted to drink or smoke... hell i didn't even want to get higher on secobarbital like i do most drugs (esp. downers).
There's something angelic about this substance.

And I've also tried phenobarbital, it doesn't hold a candle to secobarbital but it's definitely a HELL OF A LOT better than any benzos on the market...

I also found the whole "Easier to OD" bit about barbs to be grossly over-exaggerated.

are you saying phenobarbital is better than any benzos on the market or that secobarbital is... or that both are?

i've never tried secobarbital but i've tried phenobarbital numerous times b/c it was easily available but benzo's weren't at the time, vice versa from most situations i know. phenobarbital is garbage, ok well maybe not "garbage" in the sense like tramadol is (i know that's kind of unrelated but i wanted to compare it to a garbage drug and tramadol is the king of garbage IMHO). phenobarbital was better than nothing, whereas with tramadol i'd rather be sober, but i didn't find too much recreational value from phenobarbital, i could take it or leave it. phenobarb's recreational value was very limited, i'll leave it at that. i felt that every benzo i'm intimately familiar with (alprazolam, lorazepam, diazepam, clonazepam) was FAR better than phenobarbital. clonazepam is perhaps my favorite out of them all.

Interesting report on a "rare" drug! My mom used to love those things. Said she'd pop a few with some beers and be fuuuuuucked :) Never cared for depressants of any kind myself, but interesting to hear from peeps who do.

If you come across any Placidyl, Miltown or Quaaludes, let us know ;)

Thanks Lady_Codone!

Maybe dose was too low? Tried 200mgs of phenobarbital?

Secobarbital > Phenobarbital > Benzos... all dose-dependent of course

To be honest, the trip report was about my friend, not me... i have tried both recently, and can agree with him on most aspects with this stuff. Benzos and alcohol come up short on what barbs do, and where their shortcomings begin as do their negative effects.. I think this is more of an acquired taste...

Yeah, and how does one acquire such a taste? ;)

Nice to see some familiar language and a friendly cface!

So it seems to me that these drugs are a class not unlike opiates... i.e. if you don't need them, it might be wise to stay away from them.

Certainly, absolutely right. Of course, we druggie types aren't famous for our wisdom, are we? =D I'd do this shit if I could get it, regardless of consequences, and it would be well worth it.

Ahh, yes! Got my account back! WOOT!

Anyways, yep, these little fuckers are red. But they're not coated; they are a gel-cap with the white, crystalline powdered Secobarbital Sodium packed inside. It seems to be mostly soluble in saline, though IV ROA is no different than oral. Well, faster onset, of course, and it finishes up sooner than you might expect. But otherwise, the feeling is the same.

Nice to see y'all enjoyed my trip report. Yes, that was my happy drugged up ass writing all that funny shit up there. Maybe, if I'm good, I'll get to write some more!

Actually, I will write some more, just not quite yet. I got a new one from my neurologist for narcolepsy...Xyrem. Y'all know it as Sodium Oxybate, or GHB/Sodium. So it won't be a 'new' drug, per se.

I also had this problem - still in 2014 very few pharmacies have Seconal in stock. I contacted the manufacturer, the national wholesalers, and meds. by mail none of which helped.

After a month of this, I finally found a pharmacy two hours away in the Castro in San Francisco that finally dispensed Seconal to me (it rhymes with Malldreams).

It’s a funny feeling to know I must be the only person in this city, in this whole region, with the privilege to utilize this drug. It used to be common in people’s medicine cabinet, no?

I just wanted to let people know it’s out there. I think doctors under-prescribe it. My shrink prescribed it to me because of my autistic spectrum stuff. #seconalhardtofill #seconalisavailable #prescribeseconal

UPDATE 7/29/15: I've been on Seconal for about nine months and taking 60 capsules per month. Cost would be approx. $2000 per month if my insurance didn't pay. Even though that's all like a dream come true right there, I asked my shrink to take me off. Maybe I'll go back on it someday, but the psychological pull is very strong, and I started to feel I needed more and more. I can understand why it's C.II, but I still think it's underprescribed.

This drug was fantastic because on the one hand it broke my insomnia so I could sleep, but on the other hand it would put me to sleep even in the midst of a panic attack. I would stay in panic mode even while I slept and then wake up with rapid breathing. I probably should have taken other drugs for that, but I didn't want to risk it since I was also drinking heavily.

All in all I had some good times getting totally wasted, but it was time to move on.

From a recreational point of view, depressants are definitely safer than stimulants. Strong stims are very hard on your body whereas most depressants are quite benign (especially benzos).
