Scared to trip on LSD after bad mushroom trip.

Not too long ago, I had a very bad mushroom trip. My room disintegrated, shit started melting, I was all alone and lost complete touch with reality and it was terrifying. I blacked out and found myself having a seizure when I regained consciousness, I wanted it to end. I thought I had entered the afterlife and that I was god. I took a pretty high dosage about 5 grams, vaped weed during the come up and subsequently landed in the ER, I haven't returned to mushrooms since with the exception of very low doses. In fact, I can't even sit in my room sober without getting flashbacks and panic attacks. This trip was 8 months ago.

Prior, I did LSD once or twice and had great experiences, very euphoric, introspective, etc, but found I get flashbacks to that mushroom experience when smoking cannabis during the comedown which I intend to avoid. I recently got a hold of some liquid L, but am reluctant to trip due to that traumatic mushroom experience. I will probably trip again in my house, alone and am afraid of reliving that shroom trip or getting vivd flashbacks and possibly going insane again. Is this possible? Should I distinguish between shrooms and LSD? Which is better to you? Should I avoid the L altogether given my experience or dose low despite my skepticism and renew my appreciation for psychedelics?

From personal experience I've found shrooms more tolerable than lsd. However, I've only tripped on shrooms a few times and lsd many more than shrooms. Something you might consider, is that all psychedelics have basic effects on neurons in the brain. It is the subjective mind that turns things complicated. Lsd can be very therapeutic, especially if you go in with the attitude that your lsd trip is going to help you come to terms with your shroom trip. Maybe you will go back to that same exact place, but since you've been there before, there would be less shock and you should be more experienced by now in controlling your cognitive functions.

I had a terrible trip on lsd once and had the same questions as you, but I bit the bullet and tried it again about 6 months later and it wasn't really bad at all, especially since I knew what to look for, how to set up set and setting, etc...

You might also consider tripping with somebody else, it won't be as intense, but that kind of seems like what you're looking for, and you can trade-off taking care of each other instead of being solely responsible for yourself.

Imo LSD is easier than mushrooms, i find shrooms more introspective and more likely to give a bad trip in some sets and settings.
Anyway with most psychedelics you could fall again in the same bad trip reliving the same thoughts and feelings, even after a lot of time.
It happened to me too, even after 10 years of a disastrous trip with mushrooms i had again flashbacks with the same thoughts and feelings on a strong trip of 2C-I and also San Pedro, the only way to solve this for me was facing the bad trip with a sitter to speak with, disassembling the absurd thoughts that terrified me.
Another time it happened again with 25I-Nbome because i took too much and i fell in a really bad loop, then after some weeks i relapsed in the same loop with a strong dose of DOC, i had to take xanax to quit anxiety and it turned back to a good trip cuz i could analyze things being serene and calm.
So my advice is to trip with a good friend as sitter and maybe get some benzos in case you fell again in it and things are getting bad. Xanax (alprazolam) works really good to stop anxiety.

^ Lsd i find makes you face your problems/fears and is great for therapeutic reasons. I say take a low dose of Lucy and face your fears full on. It may be scary but in the end it will be very rewarding. Good luck and happy tripping :)

I kinda agree with this, Just be aware though OP that you will be facing your fears for a good 10 hours :)
(maybe not, its can drop off quite quickly after about 5 hours if its a low dose).

I don't think you shouldn't be scared of tripping on a different substance due to a bad trip you had. First of all it is a different substance that affects your brain differently. Secondly your psyche is in a different environment and in a whole new state of mind than before, therefore you will be affected differently. I don't think you should even shy away from mushrooms after one bad trip unless you do mushrooms a series of times and you keep having bad trips. Maybe try a different strain of mushroom if that happens. Psychedelics make your psyche come alive, and your psyche changes everyday. If your psyche changes everyday, they way psychedelic changes everyday.

LSD is much more tame than mushrooms, however, it is still frickin' intense. Remember, 5grams is a lot of mushrooms =/

if you can get your hands on some xanax it will stop a bad trip in a mater of minutes. and dont go into a trip afraid of having a bad trip its all about your mind set. if your afaid going in to a trip theres a higher chance of having a bad trip and ALWAYS trip with mates around. you just feel more comftable and not so alone im not saying your always gonna have a bad trip if your by yourself but there more chance of it. it can be scary feeling alone while your tripping that said if you do go into a bad trip go somewhere you feel comftable. when im on a bad trip i go outside and do somthing that calms you down. and five grams of shrooms is a lot

Don't take acid if you pretty much expect yourself to have a bad time... That's just self-destructive. Take something easier like mescaline or one of the mellower 2C's if you want to have a psychedelic experience but are worried about bad trips. It's way easier for things to go bad on mushrooms and acid than many other psychedelics. Just go into it with good vibes and be stoked for your trip. Being stoked for it for a week or two and up to the moment of dosing is fucking great when it comes to any substance. Have a positive mindset, chill with some friends, don't take it if you *know* it'll be bad.

LSD can do this to you, my one friend did two hits and completely lost touch with reality, didn't speak for several hours and was knocking over beer bottles.
I did two hits as well and was stupidly high, but not near that high.
Always start with one, especially if you haven't done any from that batch yet.

i was gonna also add ime mushrooms and lsd basically do the same thing to you with the right dosage/setting just in there own unique ways. i also have lost it on just 3 hits of wonderful lsd, wasnt talking the whole time, believing i would never make it out of what i was experiencing, the whole full on ego dissolution stuff etc. i do admit its more clear headed than mushrooms but imo your so clear headed its alot easier to dwell deeply on whatever is happening to you at the time. the time dilation with lsd is also the most extreme i have ever experienced, i have been stuck in time completely on lsd, i have experienced similar on mushrooms but lsd lasts so damn long once your in that position. also with lsd i can chill alot easier on, mushrooms make me want to get up and move around alot out of no where ime.

xanax also doesnt work that great in some cases i wouldn't rely on that to much, avoid taking to much xanax if your wanting to come down that can make it worse. 5gs is also a good amount of mushrooms, no wonder you had that experience with them. i think it maybe good to try a little lsd once your ready, i have tripped really hard before and have been scared to trip again and i usually take a different compound to get me back into it and that seems to work really well ill see the beauty in tripping again and understand what went wrong other times in the past.

i also find it easier to be ok with going back to scary mind states so you have nothing to worry about if it does happen.

Yes choose a safe environment to do it that is likely to heal your confidence and boost your sense of safe/controlled well-being. Still even in a positive atmosphere you can drive yourself into negative thought spirals. Such as is mentioned: the fear feeding on itself, worrying about losing grip, then the worry itself becomes ground for anxiety fear and even panic. Break through such circles - remind yourself that you have yourself to trust and that if you believe that everything will be okay, it will. You have that power!

Also, start with a low dose - if you do not know the strength start even lower and work your way up from threshold effects to mild effects and slowly see where it lands you. Then learn to work with it and establish a trusting relation between your own sense of self (identity) and the part of yourself experiencing the change in consciousness - you could also say the relationship between you and the LSD but that is an abstract thing to say.

All the best, I hope you have wholesome journeys :)

IME bad mushroom trips come largely from things like confusion and thought loops. LSD has little or no effects of this nature, and instead is much more thought out. place yourself back in the bad trip, and ask yourself "would i be able to get myself out of this if i could think straight for just 1 minute, or make some sense of all this?". If the answer is yes, then lsd shouldnt cause a similar bad trip

A couple hits of LSD will not be anything like a five gram mushroom trip. I agree, with the guy above me, you simply won't experience the same level of confusion as you did with a large dose of mushrooms. Personally, I like mushrooms way more than LSD but if I had to take one in public, I would choose LSD because its just so much easier to keep my head together.
