SAT scores

2210 on the new one...don't remember the breakdown of scores, so I don't know about the old SAT.

^nah, i meant it as in I doubt you had a low score. a good friend from high school cried when we got our scores and hers was a 1400... some people have pretty crazy standards... I'd hardly consider that a low score, but she wasn't happy with it at all. so no offense meant Ebola! :D

has anyone here ever taken the ACT??? i didn't, but i've heard it's a lot easier than the SAT.

The topics covered on the ACT math section are deeper than the SAT math section. That I know from tutoring people for both tests in the past. I think they might pardon you a bit on the reading and verbal stuff. In my HS, the sentiment was that the ACT was harder. I got about the same percentiles on both, so I don't really know.

nah...I just like self-effacing humor for it conceals my arrogance. ;)

I always liked the idea of a standardized test for entry into post-secondary.

Do Universities look at this test alone, or this and your grades?

Both, and it varies school-to-school which they look at with more focus.

800 math / 760 verbal, took it in 2001 if I remember correctly. I also took the PSAT a year or two earlier, 700/700. The fucked up thing is that I was so depressed at the time I was applying for colleges that I only filled out the common application (after being pushed to do so by my moms) and just sent it to a few schools that accepted it. Ended up going to a school that I hated, dropped out, switched to a long island school, and had to drop out again because of depression/money issues. I wish I was a more stable person than a good test taker.

I thought the ACT was much easier than the SAT. Seemed to me like they focused less on math and more on verbal which made it easier for me. I guess if you were stronger in math it might seem harder... just depends on your strengths.

Last night I browsed through this thread before going to bed, I ended up having a dream that I cheated on the SAT writing part by somehow doing two separate essays and got caught. It was quite odd now that I think about it.

On topic, I scored somewhere in the 1900's on the new one.

PSAT 98th percentile no studying.

ACT 29 no studying

SAT About 30 hrs of studying can't remember exact score, but lower percentile wise than the ACT at 29

GMAT 720 At least 120hrs of studying. The first thing I did was take a full practice test as honestly/realistically as possible, I got a 560, so its possible to increase ones score significantly by studying on this test. Its funny how much more motivated I was for this test than the others when the ratio of reward to effort would have been far greater in high school.

Its been a while, but i think it was 1470 or something, 790 on math, 680 verbal.

Extracurricular activities/sports/other stuff can be more important for getting into college. Stanford didnt accept me because i didn't have sports (jerks!).
