evening folks.

recently acquired 2 san pedro cuttings (payment for work) and one peruvian torch cutting (trade). chopped and dried them for about a month on the roof of the apt building i live/work at. the pedros began to show signs of fungus - small black tar looking spots on them, which i wiped off with my finger. they then began to callous yellow in spots and overall lighten in hue. planted them in small pots with cactus soil mix, moved them to the south side of the roof, opposite of where they began, as per advice from a gay old man in my building. i have only just rooted them about a month ago so i have not watered them to avoid any rotting. i even dropped one and tipped another one over because i am a clumsy idiot. it had not made any roots over that period of time but had some mild mold spores on the dried star immersed in soil. i'm worried about the yellowing and was wondering if anyone had some tips, much obliged.

peruvian torch has no blemishes. i plan to take a cutting offim and create a pedrouvius hybrid, but that's a long time from now. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-sPdmW4KPxNg/UlhfXddKKoI/AAAAAAAAAEw/z6BTfd7fA6A/s1600/1009131843.jpg

Your cacti look fine! I've grown many many San Pedro, Peruvian Torch, and T. Bridgesii. They look ok but I can tell you that the yellow callous spots are probably from red spider mites. That's what happened to mine when I brought all mine out into the backyard every spring. They are very very hard to see you may need a magnifying glass to see them. Do not use a chemical pesticide like Safers End All to get rid of the mites as when I tried that it made all my cacti ooze black sludge and eventually all that got the Safers End All died.
The best thing to do is bring them inside and introduce predatory mites. You can google that to get info on them and you can buy them from the internet.
Also, the look like they are getting too much sun. When Trichocereus cacti get too much sun they turn "lime green" colour. They grow best in shade if outdoors and do very well by a well lit window but you'll need to turn it every few days so it gets even sunlight if you choose the window.
They also root much much better under shade or dim light. That might be why they have not rooted yet. When they do start to produce lots of roots they will actually look very dehydrated and almost "gaunt" but that's a good sign that you should start watering them.
They also do best with water at a ph of around 5.6-5.9
Please let me know if you have any other questions!
Happy Growing!!

i thought about keeping them inside but thought they needed the sun, i'll bring em in now. thanks!

recommended time is 3 weeks, didn't think another week would effect it negatively. really don't think they're dead

says do not bring spider mite infested plants around other plants, and i have several in my apartment, including some precious baby herbs. gonna get some ladybugs and a can of coke :)
