San Pedro = Fun cactus?

Okay i have seen a lot of threads on preparation of peruvian torch cactus but not a single one could really answer my question.

I have recently discovered i have one of these cacti in my house and i plan on ingesting. i would like to know how, i cant boil it so that recipe is out of the question. The cactus is 4 and a half inches tall and about 2 inches in diameter and only has 4 spines.

I'm wondering if i can simply eat the cactus raw leaving the core?

But then somewhere i read that you can just cut off the outer green layer and simply eat those, so which is right?

Anything to do with cooking is out of the question so my options are kind of limited, also will this amount of cactus even have an effect? I'm around 65kg

4-spined san pedro are extremely rare. i don't think you've got the right kind of cactus.

Not to mention the easiest/least disgusting way to ingest is in fact to boil it down. Otherwise it's terrible. Find a place you can boil it.

4" tall means that it's likely a baby cactus. It's probably very skinny as well. I don't even think you'd catch a HINT of a buzz off of that.

You need to first make sure you've got the actual species you need and that is sometimes a little tricky when they are young. The next step is growing it up until you've got several feet of it. I personally don't think less than 24" is enough for a single person, but other people seem to have good luck with 12" or less.

this cactus has been around for a long while, its likely not getting any taller, i only just realized that it looked like san pedro, and they look very similar, but even if it isnt i am planning on buying one, so i guess the question remains

Get a 12" San Pedro cut, cut it into 1" thick slices, and boil it over and over and over until there's just a little bit of goop left. Drink that goop throughout the span of an hour.

I was gonna get my hands on a 12" cut and do this myself, but I found a good RC I wanna try and a source, so nvm'ing that idea for now.

i cant boil thing though, i dont have my own place and my family isnt down with me boiling shit without a thorough explanation. would it still work just eating it raw?

You never get a few hours alone to do whatever you want?

No friends with freedoms?

Anyway, I've seen people eat it and I felt unpleasant just from watching them. One of the guys got through maybe less than half a cactus before running to the bathroom. But he did come back and say 'Eeheeheeheeheehee! I'm tripping so hard! Oh my god!' so I guess a half cactus worked for him.

Seriously though, it will be the most unpleasant thing you've ever eaten and you may vomit. Eating it raw does work though.

Enjoy.

no somebody is always home which sucks, but i might be able to get a friend maybe, ave you ever ate it yourself, and personal experience?

a san pedro grows something like 20-30cm per year. your cactus is not a san pedro!

well it really hasnt been taken car of for a long time and is probably dead at this point, but it looks just like a peruvian torch

If it ain't growing more than 4 inches it ain't a Trichocereus. There are literally thousands of cactus that look like Trichocereus/Echinopsis.

And honestly dude, if you can't even boil something without your parents knowing about it maybe you should hold off until you have your own place. Are you even 18 as required by the rules here?

no im not 18 and the only reason i cant boil anything without them knowing is because someone is always home whether its my sister or a parent. im just interested in trying mesc because it seems like a life changing experience.

It does have an odor when boiled, but it isn't a super stinky one. It'll smell up the kitchen like hot plant smell...a bit like stale lawn clippings mixed with a hot bath. My sleeping brother came out of his room to ask if I was brewing some "wacky tabacky" lol ummmm no it's fresh organic tea go back to bed.

is it a strong smell that would linger or would it be gone in a bit? and also is it worthwile both boiling and the drug itself?

Do some more research on it and you will be able to make a decision yourself about whether it is worthwhile for you. Mescaline is certainly a life changing experience, but it is definitely not necessarily "fun." Psychedelics can be very enjoyable but they can also be a horrible experience, especially if you go into it without having some idea of what to expect or take them in a setting that is not suitable (like in a house where your parents, who I assume would not approve of you using mescaline, are always there).

Check out the cacti vaults at erowid:

There is information on preparation methods (eating the cactus raw will be disgusting and you most likely will not be able to get enough down to trip at all), but more importantly there are a lot of experience reports you can read that describe the effects. There can be a very broad range of effects so read some of the reports of good as well as bad experiences, to know what you are potentially getting into. With psychedelics such as mescaline you are much more likely to have a positive experience if you respect the drug and go into the experience prepared.

Hope that helps a little :) I don't have a lot of experience with cactus but I have tried it a few times, and would be happy to answer any more specific questions once you've done a little research on it.
