I may have the opportunity to try salvia for the first time this weekend. My question is ,is this combo worth trying. I've tried a hippie flip before and liked it, would the two experiences be simmilar?

Uh, no. No they would not be similar. Unless by "similar" you mean completely different and not a good combination. Then my answer changes to Yes.

I personally think that if you did a relatively small amount of salvia -- so not enough of a trip to totally blow you out of your mind -- it would be fine. Now, I'm by no means an expert on salvia, but when I've done small amounts, I get a nice, fuzzy feeling and beautiful, soothing visuals -- and I think this would combine well with e. I think that it would be worth a try -- just don't overdo it! If you like the combination at a low dose of salvia, you can always do more...

There is a tendancy for the more potent salvia effects to simply overcome the MDMA sensation thereby preventing a good synergystic reaction. This is at high salvia trip doses however, I couldnt comment on lower doses...

It's usually a good idea to get a feel for a substance before using it in a combo.
That said-
Low dose of salvia--waste of salvia*
High dose of salvia--waste of ecstasy
*might still be fun if you're the kind of person who prefers bumps to an actual k-hole

Low-medium dose of salvia on E is not necessarily a waste. There is a synergy. The salvia has a calming effect. It's purely recreational.

i dunno.. if you're using an extract or something, this would be a foolish combination. Salvia will just push X right off the stage.
It'd be like washing down a hit of black microdot acid with a shot of whiskey. I assure you, you're not going to feel the whiskey.

I would listen to Neural_shock on this one. I have found him to be quite the "Salvia Guru" here on BL - amongst other things. Check out his fantastic FAQ on Salvia here:

It is this kind of post that raises further concern about the growing use of salvia for recreational purposes.
Frankly I see not reason to even attempt this combination.

Don't take the goddess lightly. A friend of mind took salvia, got a nervous expression on his face and then shit himself.
He had to wash himself down afterwards.

yuck.
I tried this combo last night, and it was fun. (I remembered this post when I was doing it). I was starting to come down from a roll when I smoked the salvia- 10x. I didn't smoke all that much though, but it definitely felt good. I usually don't like the physical buzz I get from salvia but combined with the e it was nice. I was also on k at the time though. And right after the salvia I smoked a bowl and sniffed some amyl, so it's hard for me to say what only e and salvia would feel like.

Let me also give a brief report on the combo:
While peaking on MDMA, a smoked dose of salvia will take over completely at a high enough dose. At lower doses there is a distinctive calming effect.
The salvia peak will not facilitate a proper visionary trip. This combo is recreational / meditative. The peak lasts a minute or two before the MDMA returns.
For the the next 30 minutes the combination provides a mental state of focus and relaxation (not really a rave combo!). The MDMA will return to charge, with the salvia providing enhancements.
The physical effects are mild and pleasant; salvia provides a continuous "breeze" rather than the usual blast. Dissociative effects are less likely than with salvia alone.
Visually, there are subtle but noticable changes. I always experience a misting of the visual field.
