2) How should you treat that morphine sulphate to make it soluble in water i.e. injectable? Someone said something about turning it to hydrochloride ... ? How do you do it?

What's left with the morphine sulphate are fillers like silicon dioxide - essentially it's just the morphine sulphate that'll go into solution with warm water. Everything else is removed in one way or another (mostly in soln in organic solvents), most importantly, the wax/slow release compounds which are so dangerous to health because of the possibility of embolism.

What's left, you just shake with warm water, then pass through a micron filter & voila, ready for use. Morphine sulphate isn't the most soluble morphine salt, but a saturated soln at room temp is somewhere around 25mg/ml of solution (according to the Merck Index, 1g of morphine sulphate dissolves in 40ml of water at room temp - it's effectively insoluble in eghanol/isopropanol and non-polar solvents)

^ Some molecules can tak on extra H20 molecules , hence the pentahydrate.

Epsom salts can tak on extra H20 molecules to it. I think it comes this way though.

Morphine sulphate typically comes as the pentahydrate in pills, im not sure youll find anything else.

Oxycodone is soluble in alcohols enough to ruin something your trying to do with it, but then again so is morphine sulphate, not to the degree its soluble in water, but depending on your yeild, the alcohol will take some.

Thats not even including the fact that when you say isopropanol, which grade? what percent? anhydrous? You gotta include that or anyone following directions that contain an alcohol will go buy 70-91% rubbing alcohol and ruin what there doing. Not that someone who doesnt know to use anhydrous alcohol would be doing this anyway...so im probably just wrong

Unless the pills cannot be crushed to a powder dry (some should be able to, some might not i know ive seen them), your better off just using temperature as a control for solubility and then filtering at X temperature to filter the desired component out. Thats a totally random plan though, youd have to go through the list of fillers in the pill brand in question to work through that.

In another thread i posted about the fillers in oxycontin and which were soluble or filterable, at what temp, and which were harmful or safe to inject. here

Filters introduce a bit of complication, I considered this when i posted the OC micron filter thing i did a few years go, but including solvents pushes this up a few notches.

Chem experienced, however, this is a great idea i just never had the courage to try using my chems on drugs i had just bought, filters worried me enough.

Have you looked up the solubility of morphine sulphate in ethanol or isopropanol - the solubility is so low that it's effectively insoluble (less than 1 in 1000 solubility). The alcohol is reagent grade (99 % +) unless otherwise stated; as it's available from lots of electronics outlets as degreaser & contact cleaner, it's not difficult to obtain.

They've all been in contact with organic solvents at some point in their refining/processing. Morphine from opium will have been in solution in chloroform or methylene chloride at some point in it's isolation and they're nasty organic solvents. As long as you ensure that it has all been removed (via boiling water bath if needed - all solvents mentioned boil below 100'C at atmospheric pressure)

Doesn't work with wax matrix sustained release preparations as the tablet also tends to contain some sort of surfactant (which is why the water goes frothy when shaken) - that's one of the reasons for using alcohol - to remove excess toluene and the surfactant present.

Nope i havent looked up the solubility other than to say its slightly soluble, which is what the monograph for all the morphine pills say, other than that i didnt go looking for MSDS sheets. So yes, your right its insoluble in anyhydrous alcohol.


IM POSITIVE that you, fastandbulbous, can do it and be totally safe.

Id be concerned about the followers though, thats all.

My point is basically that you (not you, person X) have the chance of making the harm far far worse. It all depends on how good you are (and you yourself are good i know) however i do tend to put more trust in a mass produced FDA approved formulation, they can waste a few ounces of the stuff doing GC-MS over and over first.

Hell just 2 days ago i posted a meth freebase acid/base conversion, but i never intended that for injection either.

I know drugs are produced using toxic chemicals, im not one of the "meth is drain cleaner plus match stick heads and ACID maaan" idiots.

I took organic chem, but this kinda thing would totally stop me, i have a lot of faith in myself and my chem abilities, but thats my limit even as someone whos done a lot of chem reactions in the past.

now be careful not to spill at this part, place a spoon under the bottem the bottem of the filter needle on slap that son of a bitch no good nothing but trouble and HIV plunger back into the rig and push the milky liquied through the extremely ghetto filter into a nice clean spoon that was pre cleaned and steralized with those fany little alky swabs.......phhhhhhhhhhhhhttttt.
