Royal Doof 2010 ~ 12-14 June

I am feeling pretty concerned about this years Royal...i am disappointed to hear it's gonna most likely be at the crater.

All I can say is there had better be fires. I am not interested in putting myself through the hell of freezing my guts out for a whole weekend. :|
 
Attn: Ararat council....msg from us ararat bush kids that <3 to doof! I think it time u sign off on the friggin permit!!!
 
I am interested to know where abouts this years Royal Doof will be located...

I hear talk of the crater...

I hear officially:

"Due to the growing size of this event and the impact it's had on the forest land over the years, we can no longer use the original site. We have been dealing closely with the Ararat shire and community and with their support should have a new location in the same region (about 30km from Ararat). The location of the event will be posted on the website as soon as it's confirmed.

Although we have found another site where it could be done we still have not yet received a signed off permit from the shire.
We are doing everything we can with council at the moment to be able to use this site but still cannot guarantee that a permit we will be given to use this location.

The possibility of illegal event is not an option due to the list of ramifications it will have for all people involved with an event this size.

With the time frame we are now left with and the uncertainty of this backup site please be aware that we are trying all we can to ensure we have a venue for this event and apologise for the inconvenience and late notice.

We will keep you informed as soon as any details become available".


Anyone have any insight into this pressing matter? C'mon, who's got the inside word!?

we went to the council yesterday to ask what the FARKKKKKKKK is going on and they advised us that they are waiting for the emergency services to sign off on the permit and they believe that wont be, at the latestest... till next wednesday! they woouldn't tell us the actual site but the CrAtEr is looking like it could be it... :S

Guess they tried their best... Sorry to all the party people who were really, really excited to go (like me & my mate). Boo :(

First Shadow FX and Tetrameth cancel, and now the whole party is cancelled. Pthhtttt...

Won't get into a sob story about how much this meant to me in terms of fullfilling the mid year doof crave, but I feel real sorry to all those who've been making plans, taking time off work and generally scheduling their lives around this event for the past few months now. The timing of this announcement has come as a massive surprise.

Next time, secure the venue before promoting the shit out of your party.

Hopefully this does not signal the death of Royal. Please come back bigger, better and stronger next year. See y'all at Roxanne Parlour next weekend, I guess? U can take the boy out of Royal Doof, but you can't take Royal Doof out of the boy :)

And I was soooooo much looking forward to sitting around a nice, toasty fire - next to my campsite, sitting under the stars in the lovely surrounds of our beautiful Victorian bushland.

Sigh...
 
i think we could all sit here and complain about how much this suck and how devo we all are but i think the people who are going to be hit hardest by this are the organizers, not only do they miss out on hitting the bushland for 3 days of totally awesomeness but i bet they are all feeling like they have let the whole scene down, i dont blame them for one shit happens to everyone and im not gonna sit here and point finger *cough Ararat counsil cough* on who let dropped the ball i think we should all just go and have the best night we can with what we have. and maybe they might try and organise another smaller event hint hint XD i was really really really looking forward to this event this was going to be my first outdoor one since moving to melbourne and i was looking forward to meeting some doofer over here and making some new friends. I also agree with ^^ dont take it too hard come back bigger badder and louder next year because i will ALWAYS be front row center at your gigs!
 
I'd have to say i was totally expecting this... There are many things that have to be taken into consideration when organizing such a massive event so be happy it hasn't been canceled all together

At least the crowd will be good. I know many awesome people who will make the most of whatever venue is available

I will now head to Psyfari in NSW to doof the weekend away to some of the same internationals that are playing royal. YAY :)
 
The hubby and i just don't know what to do now... we have organised time off work for this... and now it's a scrummy indoor event.

Previous indoor events put on by this crew IMO were not so desirable... always overly packed, humid... and just meh.

I can imagine they have gone through a lot of stress though with trying to get this sorted.. but still... it's rather devastating.

But ah well - shit happens. I just hope Royal are able to make a come back next year and blow us all away.

Me too!! If i can get enough people together, i'm gonna bring up a small system and have our own little renegade party somewhere! :)
 
^Remember man - do it right if you're gonna and get a permit. It's the small illegal ones that are done on the sly that are not helping the doof scene. With the way things are going, there will be no doof scene in vic.

Oh it's all good. I have a country property about 40km out of ararat so it would be on private property amongst friends. More of a house party i guess you would say, rather than a doof! :)
