Hey, I'm in Mt.Vernon, Ohio. About an hour NE of Columbus, OH. I'm meetin up with a friend of mine that lives outside of Akron and then headin' to the party.

I'll be wearing pink UFO's, a yellow t-shirt, and a dark blue playboy bunny visor. Talk to me if anybody recognizes. I am going to get ready, see some of you there, hopefully.

I hear ya on that. Sorry I missed you and Jack, lesley! I had a fun time playing though, for sure. But it was a bit muddy. That spot would be awesome, if it had been really nice and dry.

Mud, Mud, Mud

Welcome to Mudfest 2003. :p Other than slogging through enough mud that I eventually gave up on shoes, this party rocked for me. Met a lot of nice kids, heard some great music, made quite a few new friends. Oddly enough, didn't see any BL'ers.

^^werent looking hard enough;) we saw you as we were leaving:(

fuckin weather man!!! we finally gave up at about 6 on saturday, just as the goahead stage was gettin cranked up. i hope everything went ok saturday night and wasnt a repeat of friday's buffet of bad circumstances. basically if the weather and cops would've cooperated this would've been one great party:\

good to see ya again steph what an adventure we had. who knew getting alcohol and subway would take 2.5 hours;)

jason lemon lyman~ thanks for the cd bud, sounds great. im already burnin copies to take to my friends out west:)

Kid Chaos~ excellent set as usual

Mark Mayhem~ what a trooper. good chunes and big ups for chillin all weekend w/ a bunch of grimey kids

Control the Night~ hope the remainder of this event went better than the portion we were there for. did db show? more people? great effort guys, hope saturday night was positive:)

i don't mean to sound like a total downer, but this probably was the worst party i've ever been to.

it wasn't all the people's fault who threw it either.

we got there and it was muddy as fuck.

it proceeded to rain more.

i lost my bf for 3.5 hours, but he was in the car the whole time and i didn't see him, so that was my fault.

not being able to find him put me in a foul mood

when the sun came up it was soooo hot and humid.

still muddy.

more rain.

swamp area.

tent blew down.

everything was soaked.

music and line up were all fucked up.

it was only 5 dollars though and it wasn't that far away, so it wasn't the end of the world.

it was good to spend time with the lover and see some friends and made some new ones.

mud...er...field day review

First off, yeah it was muddy as all hell...everyone knows this, that's life when it rains on both friday and saturday...one just deals with it. I wasn't there for the friday sherrif visits, but again I'm not suprised...anyway, my opinions:

I had a great time playing with thomar, despite the rain and threats of lightning and tornados (darbe at one point told me there was what looked like the beginnings of a funnel cloud behind us as i was playing). At least the second rain on satuday gave us a somewhat captive audience. Thanks to those who were dancing in the rain as well.

Sets I really enjoyed...Sinister v Shapeshifter, Andy James, Still Life, and Scott from the bbm stage (like 4am on sat - i forget his dj name).

I most def. enjoyed meeting a few new folk (Zone, Dave Clevr, Mike, Goose, some other pgh. folk) and seeing a few other faces that I rarely see.

Mad props are in order to those folks who were towing people out of the mud late saturday and sunday (thankfully i didn't need it...yea for quattro)...t'was very cool of y'all (not to mention amusing to watch)...Oh yeah, did the white Mitsubishi by the goahead stage make it out w/all its ground effects?

Only one thing really pissed me off during the event...the cougar that was doing doughnuts (and eventually got stuck) between the poo-bahs and goahead stages. If the driver of that vehicle pays attention to this list, fuck you. That individual's antics covered at least two girls and and most of my car in mud. That was the only really disrespectful shit that i saw for the entire time i was there.

Despite the rain, the mud, the cops and several other mishaps throughout the weekend I managed to have a really great time. I loved seeing so many old heads out and most of my friends from Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Columbus all in one place!! I heard lots of great music and had some interesting adventures. I met a LOT of new people, everyone was really friendly - it was just how a party should be imo.

Big ups to Thomar and Jamie Tyler for an awesome set - that underworld/sasha mash up was awesome - I was seriously tearing up and no one even had a clue. How do those classics slip though the cracks? Jay Shaumberg rocked it Saturday morning- who else could get my ass dancing at 9am after being up all night? Shapeshifter and Sinister threw down as always. Scott- who's dj name I can't remember- on the BBM stage (not scott e) dropped the only funky breaks set i've ever enjoyed that much - or maybe i was just dillusional from lack of sleep - jk! [fyi, i'm not a fan of funky/FL breaks] - but that set was fun! Of course the BBM themselves...although i missed most of you guys while i was babysitting my idiot friend. And Cubby and anyone else I forgot...like I said - lots of great music to be heard.

Oh, and if your name is David and I talked to you Friday night (about Pee Wee's Big Adventure among other things) and I met you at Abbasso once before and you called me sometime this weekend and you are reading this...I don't have your number so call me back!! ^_^;;;

luv peace and breaks-

I would have to say that this was definitely the craziet weekend I’ve ever had. First my husband and I went to Wal-Mart to pick up a couple lawn chairs, maglights, and some beer. We got to Field Day around 9:00pm on Friday and stayed until 5:00am Saturday morning and drove back up to Westlake.

Those cops were being extremely shady, IMHO. I was sitting on the back of Moke’s truck talking with my friend Emily and a cop was standing about 20 feet away from us listening to our whole conversation. He must have stood there for at least 15 minutes, then we saw him walking around shining his flashlight on the ground.

While I was back up home I was able to take a shower, sleep, eat and throw mine and my husband’s shoes into the wash.

We got back to Field Day around 2:30pm and it hadn’t rained yet that day, but I think about 20 minutes to ½ hour later it just poured. I finally decided to take my socks off and just wear my shoes without them.

While I was spinning, my record bag fell off of the thing it was sitting on, and at least half of my records got mud on them…not too terribly bad, but I did get them cleaned off yesterday, and I also threw my record bag in the wash and it came out as good as new.

One of our new lawn chairs got swiped, and I also lost the one maglight we just bought. Some other crazy shit happened as well, but all in all I still had a very good time. We ended up leaving for good around 6:00am on Sunday. Thanks to Matt B. and all the other people involved with Field Day and also the people who helped us get our car out of that muddy mess!

underworld/sasha mash up was awesome - I was seriously tearing up and no one even had a clue

Hey...you told me at least three or four times you could cry. I was amazed to find out some of the young 'ins didn't know the song.
Just goes to show a good song could never get too old.

Honestly, dancing in the rain with one of my favorite friends to that song, and having it played during a tag set by two of my fave DJ's was one of the highlights of field day for me, couldn't get any better. Talk about a feeling a freedom.

Sorry I was MIA during babysitting time (sorry to scare you and neuspeed by not being around, but at least you now know I didn't need babysitting too) I do feel bad I wasn't around to help, and prob. only added to the stress @ the time.

Eh, anyhow....Andy James, Jamie&Thomar, Scott, Still Life, BBM guys, Goose---enjoyed your sets (and many more) Got there late Sat. so I missed a lot, and wandered back to the bonfires and talked during some of my MIA time, so I missed some sets then too. (Speaking of which, to any of Jen's friends I met...hey, hello, nice little bonfire you had going back by the goahead stage)

Met numerous new people, PA, Rochester people, etc... You were all so friendly.

We definitely had a blast...mud and all

Seriously...how DID an entire generation slip through the cracks of that generation of tunes?

And why didn't anyone stick around to listen to David's set? :p

We left around 1am after getting a call from home...of all times to have fam coming home from the hospital...we had to hose ourselves down before going back into the house! ;)

MUCK MUCK FEST!

Well, despite monsoon rain, tornado warnings, strange looking clouds & muck muck up to the ankles *winks at Corey!* I had a good weekend. Yeah, the weather could've been better but that's the chance you take I guess. The first night got jumpin with Lemon Lyman's slamming set! Got way drunk too. Got woken up the next morning (about 7:30 am) by some jackass playing drum n bass from his car stereo. Was pretty pissed about that considering I had a bad hangover:( Anyway, Saturday brought some pretty dope sets:
*Mark Mayhem...lovin' that swing house baby! Keep it comin!
*Cubby...Great set!! Nice meeting you &hanging out!
*Ororo & Sparrow...Poor Ororo was grumpy on arrival!! Hope it wasn't too bad for ya girl! Always a pleasure to witness your tags!
*Kevy Kev...bringin da 80's/electro in full effect! Dope set!
*Sinister v Shapeshifter...BROUGHT DOWN THE F*CKIN HOUSE!! Best set I've EVER heard from them! Too bad the damn cops came & shut y'all down...figures! I was serious when I said I wanted a copy of that set--you better hook me up! PS-Sinister: Pt 4 is the best of the series! I'm LOVIN it!
What a memorable weekend! *MM: I had a great time with you Friday night running around all over the campgrounds..you were a riot! So much fun to be with..Love ya ;) *Corey--You had me ROLLIN Sunday morning! I really enjoyed the laughs..(Aunt Jamayhem!) Love ya too *Lemon Lyman: thanks for the lift there & for letting me borrow your tent..even if I did lose the stakes! oops!
*Doug Burkhart: I'm sorry, I wish I could have been more help Sunday morning. I felt really bad watching you, Mark, Corey & the rest of the guys breaking equipment down while I was sitting. I don't know anything about the equipment, & it was probably to heavy for me anyway...but I feel bad just the same. If it makes you feel better..I got a wicked sunburn on my face & chest while sitting on my ass!! It still hurts! :X

It was a muddy Saturday night, but I had a hell of time hanging out with my friends and listen to Matt and Jack (aka Sinister & Shapeshifter) tear it up again with some true D&B. Unfortunately the weather didn't want to hold up...all and all...good event! Nice work to all who were involved.

Cheers,

Lesley
