^^^^Its nothing personal against you, its merely that you declared "resolved: most addictive drug", which is a pretty bold statement....

I wasnt offended, i dont get offended easily, even though ive been through mind-bending opiate and benzo withdrawals. But I can understand the addictiveness of non-psychoative drugs (well, afrin is somewhat psychoactive), it justs a stretch to say "resolved: most addictive drug".
 
Are you people really bitching because someone else's addiction wasn't as bad as your's was? That has got to be the stupidest game of one-ups-manship I've ever heard of...
 
You should kick your afrin habit, my uncle was 'addicted' to that stuff and they had to rearrange his nose so he could breathe without it.
 
How to easily quit afrin

Stop using the Afrin in ONLY ONE NOSTRIL and keep doing it in the other. THIS IS THE TRICK!

Once the nostril that you no longer use Afrin in becomes clear again, only THEN stop using in the other.

That's the only way I've been able to quit..
 
cocaine freebase is probably the most addictive, things like heroin have worse withdrawals once your addicted though...and methadone, once your addicted, it's almost impossible to stop because of the large half-life (large amount of time of withdrawals)
 
most addictive drug is oxygen. Hands down, I swear I couldn`t go for 5 minutes without that stuff, I almost need it to live, it`s crazy....

Eh, no, that's not what happened. He declared his addiction to be basically the worst - that Affrin was the most addictive drug - he didn't just say he was addicted to it. People obviously responded by sharing the fact that they have experienced withdrawals that make you wnt to kill yourself with a blunt spoon - and that Affrin was not comparable.

Again: people are responding to the VERY strong assertion he made - not the fact that he was addicted to Affrin.

I am currently hooked on oxymetazoline hcl as well, I use it about 3 times a day 3 squirts in each nostril each time.

Pros: it has dramatically reduced the amount of time I spend picking my nose.

Cons: after about 12 hours I become completely unable to breathe through my nose, and have difficulties through my throat.

I have never tried phenylephrine, which is a different substance.

I find the generic versions of oxymetazoline to be cheap ($1.99ish), and they last about 14 days.

I fully agree that they are very addictive, they will get you physically addicted quicker than any recreational substance I can think of. The bottle says "do not use for more than 3 days or conjestion will result"... well even 4 days worth of 24/7 heroin/oxy usage will not result in any physical withdrawls. 4 days of meth usage may result in major physical rebound effects, but I don't know if those would count as withdrawls.

That being said... Afrin fucking rules. Sure I need to use it in order for my nose to work, but it never worked that well in my pre-Afrin days anyway. I have always had bad allergies and no allergy meds have ever worked... I've tried them all. I even tried allergy shots which did nothing. Then one day I gave afrin a try and whaddaya know, I could instantly breathe like never before. Truly a great, albeit exceptionally addictive, drug. The impracticability of getting off this stuff really doesn't bother me at all... just so long as I can continue to acquire it cheaply and legally. And don't give me any shit about how it is bad for me... about how it will rot/burn/eat away the insides of my nose/face/head. It's bullshit and I don't wanna hear it. Oxymetazoline nasal spray is wonderful, extremely effective, and completely harmless. Just because something is extremely addictive doesn't mean it's dangerous.

Beautifully stated! This is exactly how I feel about opiates, if they were available easily and cheaply, they would very likely help many more people than would be harmed (nobody?).

True, there is a difference between "most addictive" and "worst addiction" - but the fact remains that the post did make a lot more out of the Afrin addiction in general compared to other more "real" addictions...

My dad was hooked on Lidil (argentinean version of Afrin I suppose) for..hmm...more than 15 years? He couldn't go a fucking day without spraying that shit up his nose.

He did kick it one day and has never used since though...just like that

then again my dad is one weird fucker...he was hooked on benzos (xanax, lexotan, EN, valium) for 10 bastard years (peaking @ 4-5+ mg of xanax a day) and managed to kick the stuff in less than a month with no real noticeable-to-the-outside-world withdrawals..he even looked and acted pretty normal...

He is a bit slow on the uptake sometimes though, and he acts like a robot most of the time, so I guess it -has- taken its toll on him...

So yeah, addictions suck.
 
Does anyone know FOR SURE if this Afrin stuff actually pshyically causes your nasal passages to completely block up. Or could it be a psycological thing?

Like for example, for kalt_kalt, dont use your spray thingy for a day, then keep your mouth shut and try and only breath through your nose. You know, maybe its just a psyhical sensation because your so used to been not able to feel your nasal passages properly. Has anyone ever actually died from this condition ? (afrin w/d) Because it would seem to me if you truly couldn't breath through your nasal passages up w/d everyone who'd ever used it would still be using it now...

Maybe test it out. Keep your mouth shut and see how long you actually go through your nose. My bet is you can still breathe through your nose. Your just not used to how it feels??

Or can someone maybe provide me with a link that demonstrates in a scientific manner the exact effects of this w/d that cause breathing to crease through the nasal passages.

1 person even wrote ".. difficulty breathing through throat." OK, now that seems a bit far fetched. Chances are something in your little spray is a numbing your throat/nasal region so when it becomes un-numb the physcical sensation is unbaerable at first.

Also, like someone else said, if you really cant kick this habbit. Never try real drugs. I get the impression from your post that maybe you've only ever tried legal drugs?? "a bit of alcohol.. mainly in the college years" Hmm... Hardcore.. sorry, should't knock you for that, but seriously dude. I dont think you know what your talking about when it comes to drugs..

You may be going crazy.. you better lay off that nasal spray !

(And btw, even without trying your magic nasal spray I can honestly say without a doubt i could use it for a week+ and not be addicted. Sorry, but no contest.)
 
Thats weird.... I used carmex once..... my symptoms never came back.... but damn....that stuff DOES work

I'm also currently dependent on Afrin! *cries* its HELL getting off this shit.... and this is the THIRD time ive become addicted......

Yep, Opioid in general i think, but methadone or ORLAAM more often, I will probably be on the stuff my whole life :( ..people can die from the WD in jail if there forced to CT the stuff...saved my life though
 
i've only done maybe 5-6 drugs alltogether, but i'd defently say of the ones i've done (weed, mush, acid, b-lo, E, Ketamine) i'd have to say coke and weed for me at least......

weed probably because i dont consider it "that" bad sort of thing... and coke.. well you know..
 
im the most addicted to chap stick.

i apply it probably once an hour and if i dont i can go maybe 6 hours at MOST before i run to the nearest store and get a new one if i cant find mine. i have like 10 at all times and it fucking suck to no be able to go through a day without using it. especially if i drink, im doomed the next day.
