Has anyone experimented with Relora, a combo of Magnolia and Phellodendron? It's marketed primarily as an anti-anxiety supplement and can be found at many health food stores. I've read some positive reviews on it. There's even a book about it, purporting it as a weight-loss agent.

I'm not too familiar with Phellodendron bark (Asian cork tree), but I remember hearing good things about Magnolia bark extract, so I thought this may be of interest. If anyone has any info or experience with this stuff please post. Thanks.

Here's a few links and studies I just pulled up:

I was going to ask you at first if you thought that something with an address fastbj.org could be trusted, but that's just my male eyes, I guess ;)

That's the first study that I've seen of a relatively unknown (I've never heard of it) proprietary blend.

Interesting to say that least, it seems pretty effective for anxiety, I guess.

I remember reading a report claiming someone made an alkaloidal acid/base extract and vaporised some as freebase, and reported getting pretty wasted on it, honokion and magnolol were named as active compounds.

there are plenty of magnolia trees round here, and I have been pretty tempted to ID the species and look it up to see if it might contain any goodies.

Edit:

Seemingly the two are positional isomers, differing in the positioning of two hydroxyl groups, honokiol seems to be quite a potent anti cancer drug, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honokiol While magnolol acts as a GABAa agonist http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnolol
