regional slang

I have never heard anyone seriously call soda pop. It's ridiculous. and no one says hella except as a joke.

'huh?', 'do what?', and 'wuh?' are perfectly acceptable instead of "could you repeat that?'

"fixin' to" is used in place of "about to". "I'm fixin' to go into town".

I don't know if this is regional, but it gets on my fucking nerves. Adding 'son' to the end of a sentence to emphasizing it.
"Damn son!"
"Listen here, son!"

Fixin's are also something you dress a cheeseburger, etc with. Oh the cunfusion!

Really old folks in some sort of position of minor authority call me son... like, say, a guy running a shop downtown or something. "Can I help ya with somethin', son? Whatcha lookin' fer?"

Also everyone here refers to all forms of carbonated soft drinks as a "coke" regardless of whether or not it is actually a Coca-Cola.

So, like, what's the sitch with your boyfriend?

Oh my god! He's totally spazzing harcore.

Tell him he needs to, like, Chillax Tiffany!

I know right? Totally!

"huh?" is ok, "do what?" is something i will laugh hysterically at anytime i hear it. =D

It always reminds me of meatwad, "do what now?". Although I'm very guilty of using it. :)

Maybe it will make more sense if you realize it's short for "What is it you want me to do?" or alternatively "you want me to do what?"
So, it's really in response to not hearing what action someone wanted you to perform, although we all use it for anything we didn't hear.
"hi"
..."do what?"

We have to shorten everything here, which is why we don't pronounce g's and t's.

I think ain't is pretty common now, but does everyone just use it for to be or do they do like here and also use it for to have?
As in "I ain't heard from her yet".

Around here, in Northern Mexico (Southern California) you hear "wha' happened?" - mostly from mexicans but also from your average uneducated white person as well.

Its very annoying

Wicked Wierd

Alright, so, are Bostonians the only ones that say wicked?

It seems like every time I go and say it I get chuckles from anyone who isn't from around here.

"Hehehehehe he said wicked!"

So are we the only assholes who say wicked?

Also are we the only people in the country who like Denis Leary? (Serious question)

I like Dennis Leary. I usually pick up all kinds of dumb slang. I even remember calling people "fool" at one point. :o
For what you say wicked I would probably say "sick" e.g. "Dude, thats sick!"

Actually I as well as other people in MA use wicked as an adverb. We also say sick a lot ... "Dude, that was wicked sick!"

I used to say "ill" a lot too. That's terrible slang. So is "word" but I still use that sometimes when I don't have a response. It's sort of like "roger that."

SUB is short for subwoofer. 'that sub sounds nice'. You guys are thinking of 'a long sandwich'. :)

bro. 'look at that truck, that guy is such a bro'

i hear kids saying things like "i haven't seen her in a cool minute" instead of the opposite.

'gems' or 'logic/science'....to 'drop gems' is to kick down some knowledge.

kick down, kick it, kick rocks.

c-note, roller, flying pig, pig on a hog....i think everyone knows dank.

i think the most overused word around here is 'insane' to sum up a whole series of events....'dude we went to this club last night, shit was inSANE.'. i always investigate into matters further.

Northern Ontario, Canada...

Weed: Greens, Smoke, Bud, Herbs. No "Killer" or No "Swhag". It's essentially all "killer" and hydro up here :)

A softdrink is actually called what it is. Pepsi, Sprite, Ginger Ale, Coca-Cola, 7-up.

What the kids are saying these days...

That's Bunk - Referring to anything shitty.

That's Tight - Referring to anything better than good.

A Hundgee - 100 dollar bill.

Safe to say most people here have no problem swearing, but a lot of people have been saying "B.S." instead of fully saying bullshit. LOL! kind of ironic.

What up? - Self explanitory.

Gettin' Ripped - Drunk or high.

Combo'd - Drunk and high.

Poppers here have nothing to do with Nitrous. It's a very long shafted bong bubbled out at the end. The shaft is just a shaft, no bowl. Tobacco is put in first to act as a blocker, then the weed. Then they slowly burn the weed while sticking the whole lower half of thier face in the wide mouth of the other end. They cherry up the weed really slow, then POP it all in with a hard inhale. I tried it a few times.. you get pretty trashed off one.

Some Drug slang...

ecstasy - E, tabs, rolls

Percocet - P's, Perks

In SoCal there is slang that origanated from a mexican corrido(narco folk song), witch are very big in SoCal. Its based on three animals; a goat, a rooster, and a parrot. Witch all stand for a specific drug.

Here it is. Chiva/goat = Heroin, Gallo/rooster = Marijuana, Pedico/parrot = Cocaine. This probly seems very foregin and funny to people that arnt from southern California, but to people in the drug game in SoCal and any mexican they will know exactly what your talking about when you refer to mi chiva, mi gallo, and mi pedico. i.e. my heroin, my weed, and my coke.

SoCal is also saturated with all types of other garbage. i.e. Sick, cron, purps, crunk, ill, benjies, dubs, bluntz, wet, mexi

The one thing for smoking weed that I haven't seen on here is "blowing down." Like, if somebody was smoking while I was talking to them on the phone and I asked them what they were doin', the response would be "Shit, blowin' one down. What'chu gettin' into?"

-or-

"What do you wanna do, man?"
Honestly, I'm tryna blow some shit in the air, mayne.

That's really common in Southern Maryland.
