What do they look like?

b+w 1st and foremost they look like poppies

about a metre in height. erect. pale green/grey/blue tinged leaves that grow around the rim. leaves are hairless, stem is hairy. flowers can be any colour from white to deep red thru nice pink to purple. if you see poppies that are bigger than the red red poppies but smalleer than the huge hairy oriental ones then you have somniferum. they are beautiful. a master work in nature.. part of the beauty being that you could not pick them and put them in a nice vase for display, rather you take their juice for a lil reminder of ther beauty ...

can so,me one pm me how to put pictures in here i simply cant remmber. thanks

^ thanks pink, i knew that. I was wondering about the kind doppelganga196 found :)

where is the pic right now Cazamac? on your laptop? (I'm assuming it's not on your phone)

you have to upload your pic to an internet site/page that hosts pictures

there are many (imageshack, imagur etc)

once youve chosen which site you want to use, the simplest way is to click on the site and either drag and drop your image into it (if the site allows that option - imagur.com does), or just click on the 'upload pic' option that's displayed on the webpage and choose your pic from there. it's not as complex as it sounds.

the site I normally use http://imgur.com/ is down for maintenance atm though, otherwise I'd talk you through that

heres some help marmalade kindly posted in another thread :)

That's an interesting article, PP, and not bad reporting from The Telegraph.

You have to love John Strang. He's walked a tightrope for years, serving both as a voice of the establishment and a friend to the addict community. His work as the SLAM chair has been top class and Maudsley patients are usually a lot happier at their treatment than those at other NHS clinics. His dispute with Colin Brewer is longstanding and complex but, at root, it stems from Strang's distaste for a carelessly regulated private sector taking money from patients in exchange for prescriptions. Particularly when the dosages are often much higher than those dispensed in NHS clinics, it can seem like buying drugs. From a personal knowledge of the reality of thing, and while acknowledging clinics like the Stapleford offer an invaluable service to users let down by the NHS, I'm not unsympathetic to his viewpoint. But the answer is not to close down the Stapleford but to bring the NHS and 'Voluntary Sector' clinics into line with Europe and end their habit of underdosing patients, pushing them to come off when they don't want to and, as Bill Nellies says, behaving as if all users are criminals and scum.

As far as the specific charges go, Strang did get it wrong by not allowing for the short half-life of palfium in his calculations. Even so, 900mg daily is a big script. And, without going into details, I think he's right about naltroxene and 'fast detoxes'. That said, the Stapleford are in an artificial and impossible position. There's no way they can monitor every detail of their patient's stories and are placed in the situation where they're obliged to deny what we all know about 'diversion'. A more sensible attitude needs to be adopted - if users give a little of their scripts to already strung out partners and pals,, so what? As long as they're not selling on to virgins or making a profit, you could argue the beneficiaries are better off with their spare, pure supplies than street gear. Again, the best solution would be to allow partners and pals access to proper prescriptions as well and eliminate the problem that way. Daily pick-up is fine for the unemployed and users who live close to their pharmacy but if you're in work and the pharmacy is half an hour away, it can make life impossible. There has to be the same trust as is offered to other patient groups and, particularly for stable users who've succeeded in detaching themselves from the drug world, regular interface with other pharmacy users can be highly counter-productive. Clincians should decide on an individual basis and, if once in a while they get it wrong, curtailment of the offending patient's privileges should be the end of the matter

On a personal note, my own script simply isn't big enough to allow me to part with anything and, fortunately, I'm now so detached from any 'scene' it's been years since anyone's wasted their time trying. But users with proper scripts are subjected to considerable pressure from those who aren't so lucky. If you've been there yourself, there's no way you can turn away someone in genuine withdrawals if you can help and for years I had to kept a sack of dried poppies handy to allow me to face such contingencies without compromising either my script or humanity. No way can I condemn someone without such a substitute for helping out a buddy. As a mate once told the judge "I've people hustling me all the time and sometimes giving them a bit is the right thing to do." It's one of those areas, like informing methadone patients when drug tests are due, where treatment and patient must pretend things are as the politics demand and not as they really are. A complex madness.

The politics of Home Office, GMC, pharmacy inspectors et al also form an unhappy backdrop to this disagreement among honourable men. Let's hope the hearing sticks strictly to the evidence and there's none of the sordid, behind the scenes pressure that led a lot of observers to suspect an element of railroading in previous cases, most famously those of Dally and Garfoot. Tim Willcox - who, in another incarnation wrote a couple of great novels, btw - has had these charges hanging over his head for over a decade, which is a comment on something. Now it looks as if the charges will at last be heard, the GMC verdicts will reverberate through the treatment world. All we can ask is that right be done.

I feel for you for you cherry it's the worse feeling in the world are you trying to get clean or have no cash for the gear.when l use on top of my script then stop it takes me a couple of days to settle into my dose again a know people who booze when their rattling a couldn't see me given it a go think it would me make me feel a lot worse

I hope my juice stablises me soon!! I think going up to 70ml is gonna happen. I've got that feeling where I just don't know what I want to do, I wanna run and not stop, kick my legs out screaming. Really don't want to be around people, but I told my mate she could move into my spare room til she gets somewhere else, really regret that now, to do this rattle, I want my own space!! She's pissed me off already, by telling me she'd be here to unload her stuff at 1.30, and she's still not here. I've been stuck in all day waiting for her, got cabin fever so I'm off out, she can wait.:X Tsssch, do someone a favor eh....

Edit, I just managed to raise 20 quid in record time, time to get the sweats off my back and go score. My top is sticking to me, no point in getting changed until I get back though.

Great find PP! :) Its so great to have you back on the thread! :)

How are you doing anyway? Are you still working away? How have you been since you have had a regular supply of decent gear? Are you back to using as much as you did before the drought? Or have you learned to pace yourself? Things only started improving in Dublin about 2 weeks ago, the gear here is still not strong enough but it was good to have some sort of an improvement at last! I went a bit mad on it the first week, but i managed to slow down now! Although that was coz i had no choice but to take it easy not coz i wanted to!

I hope you & the little fella are keeping well! Make sure you stick around!!!! XXX

Hello everyone,

I just thought I would share a little smoking tip with you. Apologies if you already knew it :)

If you are using a Clipper lighter: at the end of your toke, let go of the trigger to shut off the flame, then press it again briefly to let out some unburned gas. The gas comes out of the nozzle at about 0°C, which is the boiling point of butane at 1 atmosphere, and thus cools the foil under the molten beetle. This causes the gear on the foil to fall below its boiling point and stop giving off vapour. So, you don't waste a little wisp of smoke at the end of each breath.

Hi BecomingJulie, not seen you about for a while, hope you are well.
Had 2 bags today, normal prices as in .2 for £10 but the gear was average at best.
I hear the city 20mins on train from me has got decent gear doing the rounds so will have to try and get up there and give it a go.

Great tip Julie! :) Great to see you back on Bluelight. I don't normally use a clipper lighter coz the don't have the upy downy thing for making the flame bigger & smaller, but sometimes you can be lucky & get one thats just the right size flame! I will deffo remember your tip! Thanx!!! :)

Here you go pinkpapaver & badandwicked These are example of the specimens I/we will be seeing more & more of over the next couple months. Those ones with the red petals are common in my experience, also ones with pink petals.

oh last night at work there was a non travellling member of the travelling community that looked like roman abramovich

Ay up PP good to see you again matey! And ta for posting that article, its a long read but very interesting, lots of stuff there I knew nothing about. BTW being a papaver expert yaself, when are the pods ready to start collecting raw opium from? My poppies, p somniferum and as pictures by doppelganga, are flowering and had the seed pods start coming through less than a week ago, so can they be slit straight away or should I wait a bit? Also, does anyone know a decent tool for collecting the opium, is a credit card any good? Last year I didnt take it to seriously and only collected a few times, enough for a couple small smokes, this year I have 3 times the poppies and intend to bleed them dry! Cos the stuff I smoked last year gave me a really nice mellow feel, on top of my methadone - twas a nice dreamy deep gouch more of a sleep than a gouch but nice, very nice! I wish opium was marketed aswell as B, what legal category does it fall into btw?

Thank fuck this threads seems back on track with sensible people posting sensible stuff.
I'll try and follow marmalade's link tomorrow and put some photos up of the mrs poppies , hens and chicks and White Persian's . They look amazing !
It's just took me 3 hours to read the last 4 pages , can't get me head out my lap ,I'm not complaining mind !

A small paring knife - they are curved and fit snugly round the bulb. You need to wait til the flowers fall and leave for about 2-3 weeks before scoring with a sharp knife (not too deep). But you need an awful lot of poppies to get a decent amount (an acre will give you about 3-5k) so scale it down and you get the idea

Has anyone been getting a lightish rocky gear no powder I think its the DB's but theres another -pale powder thats good but I dont think as good but a good mate reckons otherwise (he knows the score) - in london - Id say the rocky one is a 9 the powder 8 but my mate reckons the other way round....only one way to find out FIGHT. Alternatively anyone had similar

From the look of a chum after she'd had a hit of it, the pale powder with the odd rock in it is a lot better than what was around during 'the drought'. Haven't seen the exclusively rock alternative, though, so can't compare the two.

A blue or green needle or, if you're skilled, three banded together are ideal for slitting poppies. The art, for those who don't know already, is to penetrate the outer but not inner membrane of the pod. A little practice and you soon get the hang of it. But it's always a good idea to think twice before breaking the law and be aware collecting opium is very much in that category - either a 14 year or life maximum sentence on the statutes. If you do it in a built-up area, you leave the evidence behind for all to see and discretion is highly advisable.
