i started smoking gear back in the mid-late 90s
back then it was £90 a gram but maybe it was cos i wasn't smoking for long but it did seem stronger
practically overnight the gear halved in price-was lighter in colour and thought it would be shit but it seemed ok
looking back it was changing and things were starting the slip down the slippery slope

The dry-up really started biting here in the UK around the spring of 2008 and although there has been decent available since then it's not been great though. What's been available since the spring of 2008 has been selling so there is no way we will ever get good strong kit here again. UK heroin is done and dusted...

Things are getting SLOWLY better down here in sunny plymouth, its consistent, & ive kind of worked out where & who's got what, as plymouth is a small city, you knd of get to know, who's got the best contacts ect..& after 5 months of this drought, ive learnt where to go & not to go, so fingers X that it keeps coming.verycurious

This is my very first post here. Basically I came accross this thread accidentally and was just amazed by reading it so i felt i had to come on here and ask a few questions. please do not get abusive at me or my ignorance but I had this idea about people that took heroin as being down and out and unable to string any form of sentences together, never mind use the internet or be able to use a forum.
please just know that its not because i look down on users, its because i dont know one single person that has ever done it and the only thing i know about heroin is what my parents told me or what i see in the movies. I'm live in a fairly big city in ireland, so god only knows how i managed to get through 30 years without coming accross heroin. i myself would be a very heavy weed smoker and i have taken / will continue to take ecstacy, coke and speed on big nights out or whenever its available. I'll probably try mushrooms and lsd eventually but the one drug i have never desired to try was heroin. why? because i see on the tv, the horrible conditions that users live in, that they will sell their children in order to be able to buy it, they die, once you use once your hooked for life etc... up until i came accross this thread i would have continued to think this was true - but you all seem like stable, normal decent people and im wondering what is the difference between you guys and the horror stories that i often hear on tv? is it possible as a user to get up in the morning, take the kids to school, or get yourself to school/college, cook dinner, do housework and all the other activities of daily life that we all need to get through? do you have jobs? again, i am in no way trying to offend anyone here and im not in the slightest anti-drugs - i am very very innocent when it comes to this form of drug and its use. i am extremely curious to know what happens in the day to day life of a user. for me, im addicted to weed, i save it to the evenings tho. im in college studying to be a nurse by day, but when i come home i roll a few and smoke for the night. is it typically the same with heroin? are any of you big weed smokers as well as heroin users and would you care to tell me how similar or different these two drugs are... a good honest reply is something im looking for!!

Big weed smoker, occasional heroin user. With a couple of periods of taking it too far and getting burned, but no experience of what it feels like to try break a long-term habit.
I'd say in many ways the drugs are completely different, but there's a similarity in the sedative aspect of cannabis, plus the escapism. Other than that, they're very different in terms of lifestyle for long-term users (generally, but not always - there are plenty of 'normal' everyday working folk who have habits) and countless other aspects.
The stigma around heroin is probably the biggest difference in terms of the negative effect it has on users.

People use heroin for all kinds of reasons, its a brlliant antidepressant as it gives you a warm cozy feeling, a feeling of complete contentment, some desribe it as the best feeling ever, & the majority of people that like weed, would probably love the feeling the H gives you, but please, dont ever even try it, if you have an addictive personality, chances are you will get hooked, and the withdrawls is your worst nightmare, when you've got a habit, its the hardest thing/feeling ever, & the statistics say that the average heroin user is addicted (taken on an average) of 14 yrs, most people i know have been addicts for 20 years & over, and most i know have high end jobs and live in afluent area's. You'd be suprised at the amount of doctors, lawyers ect i know that have been leading secret lives, addicted to Heroin..
Cannabis imo is a completey different ball game, & is only mentally addictive, where as herion is seriously mentally addictive & phisically addictive. Ive always been able to take or leave any drug (i am a cannabis smoker) but with heroin, it is a new world, & a lot more harder to give it up, thats why in my 10 yrs of using, ive only ever known one person to come off/get clean off opiates/herion, they are usually put on methadone (which to me is a nasty/more addictive opiate) & only 4% have reported to have ever come off methadone, as its ten times harder to come off, the withdrawls is umbareable, so please dont ever go there just to even try it as whe hooked, you need to drug to just function normally.

Verycurious, be glad you have stayed away from H, it's just not worth the hassle, the gears crap it costs a fortune and within a couple of weeks you will have a tolerance to it. I've been an addict for 20 years now, most of the time just sticking to my script the best I can. When I come across a decent bit I'm there but that's not often. If someone wanted to try H they would be better going on a holiday to Thailand or even Australia with a friend who knows the score coz the stuff that goea around in the UK is rank.
