recreational use of suboxone

Hmm... That's interesting. Perhaps the half life may depend on how much you take, and also it seems to build up in your system if you take it frequently, but it's really weird as I've seen studies/articles stating buprenorphine's half life at anywhere from 2 - 75+ hrs. It sounds like some are stating the elimination half-life and some are stating the terminal half-life, which makes things more confusing (not sure which the Temgesic info is referring to).

It's the elimination half life. Temgesic 0.4mg is a pain medication and it is supposed to be taken every 6 to 8 hours, so the dosing is quite different pain management (&recreational) vs. maintenance purposes. This short half life seems to be accurate only in doses below 1mg, some use recreational doses higher than that so they will experience the long acting effects still. I don't know any "dose dependent half life" -compounds other than this, and I aint sure about this either except that the very official (non-english) prescribing information of Temgesic suggests so.

^Half life between 2-5hrs according to that but still long term elimination phase4 (whatever it means) 20-25hrs. I think one has to have some knowledge of pharmacokinetics to understand this.

I recently got a couple of 2mg suboxone tablets. I was wondering if these have much recreational value?

I rarely use opiates maybe about 100mg of codeine once or twice a week which gives me a very slight buzz. I am far from addicted or even tolerant to opiates. I have used largish amounts of oxy before - say 120mg a day. but that was years ago.

I was wondering what is a good starting dose for the suboxone? My friend recommended 1mg (so half a tablet). Is this too much? The last thing I want is to spend the whole day vomiting nor do I want to OD from it.

What is the high like for people who are not addicted to opiates? Is it similiar to oxy?
If codeine done sparingly gives you a buzz at 100mg, you don't have a massive opiate tolerance. Buprenorphine is powerful, I'd say try .5mg, or if you're over 200lbs and someone who naturally tolerates substances well, no more than 1mg and see how that is. The dose with bupe doesn't determine any recreational value like you're looking for, once it builds up in your blood stream, the recreational value decreases. But, if you let yourself withdraw, then a small amount does the trick as well as a big amount.

Long story short, start small, like .5 mg and within 45 min you'll know if it was enough.

If you're a man and over about 175lbs and in good overall general health, it is damn near next to immpossible to overdose if you took both of them whole, it's like 4 mg, you might just puke for several hours though and swear off suboxone forever.

In terms of analgesic potency I believe buprenorphine is supposed to be around 37.5x more potent than morphine.

I suggest beginning with a tiny dose as some people suffer extreme anxiety and since the duration of the stuff is quite long, that anxiety could last for a long, long time.

I'm a bit surprised because I've tried up to 8mg having only used codeine and guess what - it turns out I'm one of those who gets the anxiety. It lasted a full 16 hours.

I honestly don't undertand how people can enjoy the stufff BUT it seems clear that I'm in the mniority.

Start low - you can take more, you can't untake something if it's too much.

The typical analgesic dose of sublingual buprenorphine is 200 micrograms (0.2 mg) link

Equating to 7.5mg of morphine. It's longer action makes it useful in some cases. I tried it - PANIC ATTACKS!
