Hmm, I've just watched 'A Room For Romeo Brass'. Seen more convincing Nativity plays. Lousy performances all round, poor casting, dreary music, simplistic plot, blah blah.

Whaaaaaaat? It's a great British film. First no one is impressed with Eastern Promises and now A Room For Romeo Brass is crap. Back to Hollywood action films and shiny 3D for you lot.

Watched Time to Kill last night, good film.

Yea I quite liked A Room for Romeo Brass too, it's got a really raw feel about it.
And yuss - A Time to Kill is absolutely quality ;) Think it's on again soon isn't it?

On Film4 right now is Deathwatch and after that, if you're not feeling extremely fragile and depressed, there's Grave of the Fireflies :)

Time to Kill was on the other night, I've got Deathwatch recorded. I wish I had the Sky movie package, Sky Indie had some crackers on last night I noticed, Antichrist, The Secret In Their Eyes, The Firm and that was just yesterday.

I watched Drive last night and I wasn't that impressed. It was alright, but the story was far far too short, there was no character development, and considering it's called drive there are whole half hour chunks of the film where there is no driving at all. They might as well have replaced that dodgy emotional music over the top with a woman singing 'We want an Oscar' over and over again. One thing I did really like about it was that it was like a film noir, but in colour, which i'm surprised no one has done before. Maybe they have, i'm hardly a film buff. Overall i'd probably give it a 7.

Now that's a shame - I don't normally pay any attention to adverts but the one for Drive actually convinced me that it would be good...
Just shows you that the shape-shifting-reptilians of advertising are in the process of evolution as we speak.... 8(

As for film noir-esque in colour, I guess Sin City has an element of that about it :)

There's been a few film noir type films in colour, can't think of any of the top of my head right now though.

A Time to Kill

A top film was on film4 the other day and is on again tonight at 9pm on film4.

A Time to Kill

A young lawyer defends a black man accused of murdering two men who raped his 10-year-old daughter, sparking a rebirth of the KKK.

edit - oops, just seen that this film was recommended a few posts above, silly Mugz, still going to double recommend it, and remind everyone that it is on again tonight at 9pm :)

Knew it was on again tonight ;)
Yea it's cereally good - I would say to those who didn't catch it the previous couple of nights to check it out :)

Been on a shite comedown film mission today. Watched Weekender & Bad Teacher. Neither as bad as I was expecting but I was expecting both to be terrible. I'd say they're both worth a watch but don't be expecting a masterpiece.

I think I'll watch Drive later. I tried to watch it when I got home last night but I knew I wouldn't be able to keep my eyes open for long so just turned it off after 10 minutes.

Just watched The Irishman, excellent movie I thought.

Saw The Tourist last night, even though I was struggling to watch it cos I was fucked I saw enough to say it wasn't great :p

Drive was pretty decent. Not enough actual driving in it though.

My sentiments exactly! I know it might have been a bit difficult to get more in there and not erode the serious nature of the film down to the point it might as well have been Fast and Furious 6, but still. Beyond the first awesome car chase the rest of the film is futile, it's like it peaks in the first 10 minutes.

Thought Drive was cool.

Melancholia.. em not sure what to say really. Between that and The Tree of Life.... 2 mind fucks alright.

Point Blank (French 2010) watched last night wasn't bad.

Trying to get A Midnight in Paris working here with not much joy.

Greenzone http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0947810/plotsummary

Following the American invasion of Iraq in 2003 Chief Warrant Officer Roy Miller and his men are charged with finding the so-called weapons of mass destruction, whose existence justified American involvement, according to the Pentagon and their man in Baghdad, Poundstone. Veteran CIA operative Marty tells Miller that there are no weapons, it is a deception to allow the Americans to take over the country and install a puppet leader. Also suspicious of Poundstone is Wall Street Journal reporter Lawrie Dayne, who lets slip to Miller that Poundstone told her he had secret talks in Jordan with an important Iraqi, code-named Magellan, who told him about the weapons, though it now seems likely Magellan's true information was to the contrary. So begins a hunt for the truth. Who's playing whom?

Watched that last night, very impressed. Actually sticks true to the story as well as giving a good bit of insight to how corrupt the whole cause for war in Iraq was in the first place.

gonna check that out =D

A Beautiful Mind is worth a watch. haven't seen it for ages
