Ok so I finally watched :
I knew the basic plot but not the style. Fuck me this is how films should be made! The hand held scenes are not piss take vomitcam like many pseudo-documentaries and the long takes are fantastic. I like long takes so much more than stuff thats edited to fuck eg Michael Bay shit thats 100 edits a minute at times
There are quite a lot of scenes that just play out naturally and go on for a minute or so before cutting, a couple of 3-4 minutes show pieces and one 454 seconds...nearly 8minutes
that had me open mouthed. I know they were spruced up post-production but I was INSIDE the film because real life is all one long take, not cut,cut,cut,cut.. The preparation that went into that stuff is beyond anything I can conceive of
Putting together a list of films with long takes in for lovefilm list. Some arthouse films use them to show how in the real world not much happens and thats fine but more than a few films like that gets dull. 5+ minute takes where loads happen is just amazing....imagine if the Omaha Beach scene in Saving Private Ryan was done without cuts...that would be the shit!
