I'm not a smelly hippy...will you still hit me with a pickaxe?

No I don't speak German, that's not the point. If you can't understand what the point is maybe you shouldn't be replying.

Actually what I took to be the point was that you feel that in order to be considered to be a good movie they would have to set it in the language of the country. Completely pretentious, as are you. You cannot see behind the language the film is set in, in regards to where the film is based. This is simply semantics.
This goes to show that you are more interested in how you may be perceived rather than your enjoyment of the story itself.

By this logic you could not enjoy an itallian dish in your own country. Because, as you implied, it wouldnt quite be authentic itallian.

slange var! Round two. Your turn Princess.

Nope. You've missed the point again.

Just because they have the the actual language for the country the film is set in doesn't mean it's good it just means its more authentic and beleiveable which means there's more chance of me enjoying it but not neccessarily.

Completely pretentious

Nothing pretentious about wanting a bit of authenticity in a film. When a films about Nazis for example and the actors are all speaking in broad American accents it detracts from the film. It doesn't seem right and it ruins the film in most cases. I'm not the only one on here who thinks this, I know a few folk have mentioned in the past that it irks them too.

No, what it shows is that for the story to be truely beleiveable they really need to use the proper languages, anything else and it seems false.

Aaaaannnnddddd... from aardvarks (which are a type of anteater, I believe :)) back to films :)

I'll narrow "films" down to one specific one when I've watched one again. In the meantime feel free to add fillum talk. Take ya Spade bashing to his Q&A Thread or Gibberings or summat please, folks :)

Sooorrryyyy. I just go about on tangents. As for films, I cannot possibly contribute. I like what I like. Could be a fantastic art film or main stream b.s. I mean one of my favourite films is Half Baked. AWESOME. So I am no film critic but I just like what I like and that movie is funny!!

Game, Set, Match. Shambles told us to take it elsewhere. I am a reasonable woman and more than happy to comply to such a request made in such a kind but certain manner. Since I'm simply not willing to follow you ANYWHERE. That makes us done here. Thank you, and good night.
Have a good wank, sorry I meant sleep. Night night, dont let the crabs bite.

half baked is a goodun, but the best stoner comedy of recent years has to be how high method man and redman smoking the ashes of their dead friend to get into harvard cannot be beat.

I watched the mass produced rubbish hollywood film 12 Monkeys tonight and I have to say it kicks the shit out of just about all the independent/foreign cinema I have seen lately.

haha

Manhunter.jpg

Manhunter is a 1986 thriller film based on Thomas Harris's novel Red Dragon. Written and directed by Michael Mann, it features Brian Cox as the popular character Hannibal Lecter (although the character's name is spelled "Lecktor" in this film) and stars William Petersen, Joan Allen, Kim Greist, Dennis Farina and Tom Noonan. The cinematographer was Dante Spinotti who also served as the director of photography on Red Dragon, the 2002 film version of the novel.

This we we watched natural born killers on blu ray - didn't think it improved the picture qualidty all too much.
Also watched red sorghum which my mum bought me a few weeks ago, i really like zhang yimou films so this was a winner.

The original Manhunter is a top film, Missus. Not sure if I've seen the remake which leads me to think that either I haven't seen the remake or it's not very memorable :D

I'm also a bit of a fan of Natural Born Killers, Wibs. Think I've only seen the director's cut though.
