for some reason i haven't seen the classic Blade runner, got it off amazon gonna watch it soon

that Iron lady film is on channel 4 in an hour as well, wonder if its worth watching

My favourite horror film watching it at on 5.1

HELLRAISER 2 - HELLBOUND

doug bradley is great as the lead cenobite/pinhead

"your suffering will be legendary...even in hell...we have such sights to show you..."

clive barker also made this fantasy horror gem in 1990

NIGHTBREED

clive barker ftw

.... Bane's voice was inaudible,

Inaudible and also very, very fucking annoying. He sounded like a drunk gorilla with throat cancer doing a Yoda impersonation for HOURS AND HOURS and HOURS.

I saw that at the cinema too and it was fucking annoying not being able to follow the dialogue.

Same with the previous Batman film IMHO, I don't think I've ever missed so many lines in a film. It was a load of grumbling and a bunch of earsplitting noises but it was still better than the third film.

Lack of voice clarity in quite a few movies I've been to see this year has been a recurring problem. Very annoying

Agree again. I wonder if it's because some cinemas have gone to totally digital setups and haven't recalibrated their audio properly or something. Or, we are going deaf.

I saw The Impossible last night. It was a well-manufactured film but goodness me there was a lot of drowning / nearly drowning in it and loads of agony to the point that I came out feeling a bit brutalised and wondering to what end as it wasn't enormously rewarding overall. Also, from the very beginning I felt it was shitty to focus on one fucking annoying British family who arrived on a dream holiday which then went horribly wrong then improved and ended in a private jet whisking them to an expensive hospital when there were millions of indigenous people all over SE Asia having a shit existence which then got worse and then didn't get better.

edit: @Acieeeed Ed : EXCELLENT FILMS. Nightbreed's horribly underrated imho .... "FUCK THE LAW.... I WANT MEAT" (Peloquin)

Have to agree with everything you just said.
Love Pinhead.

thanks jancrow...
nightbreed wasnt commercially sucessfull but is a cult classic imo

re batman and bane etc
good set pieces etc cost 50 billion to make after all. dialogue heavy films the last two.

"exile or death..."

*my favourite scene

though you might be a fan :-)

i have hellraiser 1-8

only 1+2 are worthwhile imo maybe 3
the rest arent great. what made pinhead so great for me in one and two is he has very little dialogue but what he says is profound. from hellraiser 3-8 you cant shut pinhead up lol the mystique is lost a bit

That's one of the best things about Nightbreed too, to my mind- there are loads of extremely interesting-looking supporting characters, some of whom only ever appear for a second or in the background or what have you. It feels very rich and realistic as a result, like we're just seeing a slice of what actually exists, leaving a lot to the imagination. Same with the first couple of Hellraisers- the cenobites inc Pinhead are really enigmatic. It gets daft pretty fast after that- nothing would persuade me to watch anything after 3.

Speaking of Clive Barker does anyone like "candyman"?

Virginia Madsen was mad hot back in the day :)
yes!

candy man, candy man, candy man, candy man, candy man!

didn't Carpenter do the OST? I think he might have done, I think I might even have the vinyl to it actually.

Virginia Madsen = Goddess ...

and unrelatedly ... (and meg forster ... remember meg and those eyes? She was in They Live. Remember the 10 minute fight scene from They Live? AWESOME stuff ) [edit] she was in the original V TV Series too ... (I liked the recent 2 season V TV Series remake too)

<3

Candyman rocks, I remember watching it in the cinema, and Virginia was mad hot in that, funny to think she was Mr Blondes( from reservoir dogs) sister

"They Live" is Seriously one of the best movies of all time

"I have come here to kick some ass and chew Bubblegum"
"And I am all outta bubblegum"

You just KNOW Roddy's sunglasses = LSD :)

Here are two films for those who like UK gritty realism - Red Road and Fish Tank:

Red Road is about a woman who works for a security company monitoring CCTV cameras covering a Glasgow tower block, who takes a bizarre interest in one of the residents. I found this film really disturbing at first, only to have the way I felt about it completely changed at the end. Good, if a little slow in places.

Fish Tank, a later effort by the same writer/director, is about a single mum and her daughters, living on a London (or is it Essex?) council estate. Mostly about one of the daughters. The mum's new boyfriend appears and he seems like a nice guy. He is a nice guy! I can't say any more about it without giving the story away, but it's definitely worth a watch, it's more steadily paced than Red Road but still a bit fucked up, shame about the cheesy ending but that only lasts for a minute...

Yes Knock I think I watched Redroad a few years back. I can't recall much about it apart from the female cctv operator watching some bloke all the time on the cameras.
Was he a ginger bloke, I can't remember what really happened it as its been a while since I saw it.
Like u I remember it being quite slow in places but something kept me watching it.
As for Fish Tank not seen that yet but will keep my eye out for it as I do like watching British made films.

watching clive barkers

NIGHTBREED

at the moment. its from 1990 but wasnt released in uk/ireland afaik.
my copy is a foreign dvd rip.

highly reccomended

It was released in the UK actually, alongside a pretty shit video game which I think I pirated then wiped over.

Awesome monster design in it, innit. See you in Midian.
