Urotsukidōji (legend of the overfiend) & legend of the demon womb which is part 2

Tetsuo: The Iron Man & Tetsuo 2: Bodyhammer

Oldboy

Paprika (by Satoshi Kon, the best japanese animation I have ever seen & was the basis for Inception)

Drunken master

Drunken master is shit, want to watch a real movie

Google "TRICKY MASTER"

ONE of the very few movies that shows "Northern (fat) Mantis Style" ie the real style from Wang Ling , not this modern bullshite

It's not really a movie film, more like six, but I've just watched the first two episodes of Roots and I'm quite impressed by how it's survived the years. A few bits are dated, but mostly not and it's definitely worth a watch if you've not seen it before or for a while.

I see your point Kenny. I admit nature is not very friendly in Australia. Many deadly creatures, let alone the blazing heat and lack of water in the interior of the country.

But in countries like the UK we have a moderate climate virtually all year round, abundant water, beautiful picturesque mountains, lakes, and rolling hills in this "green and pleasant land". We have wild deer, foxes, grey and red squirells, and various terrifying and fierce rodents like field mice. We do have the rarely seen Adder, which i believe is the only semi dangerous wild animal that inhabits the UK.

I agree completely with you man, it's just that I watched that film (into the wild) with a bunch of art student types who kept on going about nature being great and all that, it sort of really annoyed me when I knew that none of them could deal with having no wi-fi or Starbucks for 24 hours.

I think nature is a harsh place regardless of deadly creatures, I mean I'm from the Alps originally, apart from viper snakes and boars, there's no real direct danger really, however, the cold, lack of readily available food would still make it an inhospitable place.

I am on about the 1 with Jackie Chan.

The best guy ever in chinese kung fu films imo is Hwang Jang Lee (hence why I like Drunken master so much)

I saw some Duck style in in "kung fu genius" & the cat style too. Once came across dog style from a film about China too. From what I have seen of Mantis I am not impressed tbh. If I had to pick 1 style to learn myself it would be drunken monkey.

Duck style (with added Quack) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0zLP_hytjY

Farmaz I think I saw the dubbed version and it really ruined it for me, It also had some swearing taken out, I will have to rewatch the original.

I dont think JC will ever better Police Story though, fuckin classic

Classics. I also enjoyed part 4 but fuck knows what it was called. Was in Japanese with no subs. Involved Nazis in some way shape or form too, from memory, which is always a winner. Never saw part 3 though.

Tetsuo: The Iron Man & Tetsuo 2: Bodyhammer

You and Ms Marmz are the only two people I know of who share my <3 for Tetsuo 2. Good taste in film is so hard to find...

Been wanting to watch Hiruko The Goblin for ages now but my copy has a wonky srt file that goes way outta sync after the first few mins and have never had the arsedness to tweak it to fit. Have read mixed reviews on it - mostly less than glowing - but most folks seem to be comparing it directly with the original Tetsuo and just bitching about the fact it's a different film so still have high hopes myself.

Watched Matchstick Men last night, good film about conmen, mental illness and fucked relationships with a nice twist.

That's Nicolas Cage, Alison Lohman and Sam Rockwell and it's a Ridley Scott film. Alien is one of my all time favourites, yet Ridley Scott has come out with some shite, this is one of his good ones though.

The Thirteenth Floor

Wasn't sure what this was when I started watching, at first I thought it was going to be some sort of period drama set in 30s Los Angeles but it turned into a quirky little sci-fi flick with some nice twists. Obviously borrows from other recent films but has enough of its own originality to be worth watching, perhaps on a low-dose of some psychedelic.

^ Yeah I absolutely loved that film, brilliant. Vincent D'Onofrio is in it too, the guy who played Gomer Pile in Full Metal Jacket.

It's quite an old film though, I think it's the the other recent films that borrow from it.
