reason for using hard drugs?

I think we're trying to AVOID arguing which drugs are hard and why... everyone has reasons for their opinions but if you read the original post, the person clarified (by editing his post) what he meant by "hard drugs" after it was pointed out to him the problems with using that term.

I was gonna make some sarcasm but got carried away and used reasoning. I agree with him though.

I tend to evaluate the hardness of drugs by how narrow the response to the drug is. Psychedelics and cannabis I consider softer drugs beacuse people have literally millions of different reactions to them. Cocaine, heroin, meth, and other drugs like that typically have very defined reactions. Not to say that people don't react differently, but the variance is much less than with psychedelics and cannabis.

At least, that's how I look at it. I also throw some kind of weight into there about how intoxicating a drug is. I dunno, I think we can all agree it's pretty nebulous.

I smoke weed daily and have been doing so for about 2-3 years on and off. I smoke because its fun, relaxing, and gives me a nice headchange.

As far as reasons for trying other drugs is as follows:

Ecstasy- I have only rolled twice and dont plan on rolling again for a while. I have done it and will continue to do it in moderation because it is a fun drug. For a few hours I have a good time and can get along with everybody. Ecstasy is a cool drug every once in a while.

Coke- I have only tried it once and I dont think I got a good experience. When I did it, I didnt find the effects too pleasurable but I would like to try it again and see if I just got bad stuff. I hope that I never do coke a lot, it isnt that desirable of a drug so I dont think I'll have to worry about anything.

Meth- I love meth the feeling is soo good and I find it a really desirable drug. Unfortunately I have decided to quit about 2 months ago because I started liking it too much and could see a potential addiction. My reasons for trying meth were stupid I just wanted to get fucked up. I am never going to do this drug again simply because it is a fucked up drug and ruins lives.

Shrooms- I've only tripped once but it was by far the best drug experience of my life. I like pyschedelics a lot and love the mind expanding characteristics. I plan to trip again in a few weeks. Shrooms are a nice drug to do 2-3 times a year.

In all reality I think that the only drugs to fuck around with consistently are pyschedelic drugs because they can yield much better results than other drugs. You never see somebody who does coke saying how great it is and how it changed their life. When you see meth-heads they are all fucked up. E makes you a dumbass if you do it a lot. Drugs like shrooms and lsd are very powerful and can help cure you of your problems in a more natural way, but at the same time they can destroy your head if you are not ready.

So in the end I think for good, healthy, safe, and possibly beneficial drug use it should go: Shrooms/any other pyschedelics 2-3 times a year, coke a few times a year, ecstasty twice a year, meth never, weed daily. Or something like that.

The bottom line is that, while these drugs are appealing to nearly everyone, being addicted sometimes turns some people off (sarcasm)...being a drug addict isn't easy, by any means...if it was, more people would mask and subdue their problems via this method of life. However, if the problems you hold inside are painful enough, you will find that addiction is an easy beacon to find. But, with that said, I don't recommend it...being an addict is not an easy life, contrary to the Hollywood portrays...

swybs
very well put swybs only a true addict can understand how much it really sucks

unfortunately i was told repeatedly and in fact knew what i was getting into but took it to that level non the less..

i have pain issues that making being an opium addict preferable to just toughing out the pain

although if i had it to do over again i would rethink it

my point is until you actually get hooked on a hard drug you probably wont listen or care about addiction

nobody can really tell you about it you just have to be there

Let me ask a question.....

Do any drug ab(users) here not enjoy the feeling of what they take?? I mean, what a pointless statement if you think about it. "I take drugs cause they just plain and simple feel good!" Of course you feel good on drugs, but that doesn't explain why someone starts it. What, you've never felt good before drugs?

It just boils down to users using drugs to escape from something in their life. I believe that users who just say, "I use drugs cause they feel good" are not in tune with their underlying issues and just haven't realized the root issue to their drug use. (hope that made some sense.)

I can state many times in which I hated the way I felt, yet stayed true to some inner conviction(addiction)that caused me to continually abuse cocaine. Case in point today. My nose is in pain, scabbed, an just hell from the previous 3 days (except yesterday) of coke use. Yet I sit here with a pile of cocaine in front of me which I will undoubtedly finish soon.

It works both ways. If there was such a simple, clear, and easily verified dsitinction about drug use, addiction and the reason for such actions, it wouldnt be one of the most understood and inherintly individualistic diseases on the earth.

In some cases, people use drugs for curiosity. Not everyone uses drugs to escape from something in their life. Though, maybe that curiosity turns into an escape.

What I believe happens in most cases to addicts, is that a person uses a drug for fun, curiosity, recreation, whatever. Most people are mindful to make sure they don't become addicted to a drug they know has a reputation to be addictiive. Of course, they don't know what addiction is yet. Then something happens in their life that just sucks, and overall makes them depressed or stressed. At this point, the user does not care about being an addict or not and just uses and uses the drug until they become addicted. When one's life becomes good again, they are left with an addiction they cannot just ditch in a second.

Of course, some people are just stressed/depressed when they try the drug and the transition is near immediate.

I don't think people use a drug thinking "i must escape from the tortures of life!" Think about the first time you used. Maybe someone offered you a line at a party, and you decided, why not. It was only later you decided you were tired of "this shit" and wanted something to try to relax.

Very true Creative,

Also, there are MANY people who use drug's who lives are very joyous, filled with true love, money, and real spirituality and hapiness. Yet the are some of the same people you will about OD'ing.

The main subject of this post was really interesting. I feel like i have a lot in common with a lot of you bluelighters.

I found it really annoying that half the posts were about debating what hard/soft drugs are/not. So far off topic, and im on some opiates, so it really irritated me.

Lol....I hear you buddy. I get so F'in irritated also for nearly any reason when flying the opiate kite.

All wishes that your flight becomes more enjoyable friend.

Oh it's alright. There's no way around the irritation. It's because i feel so damn good, that anything the least bit bothersome fucking gets me so mad...sometimes even people just talking...and not even being loud, or to most people, annoying.

I got's me some cannabis though. Smooth sailing to cure my ailing.

so basically everything i gathered from this board is that meth is the most extreme hard drug? i always thought heroin or crack was. can anyone fill me in?

bah, I hate it when people get high on opiates (specifically heroin) and get irritable/bitchy. one of my best friends does this and I swear it pisses me off so much. he'll go on a rampage about how like I am not a good friend anymore, and this will spring forth from me like talking on the phone to my girl while chillin. 8) :X

I whole heartedly agree with this statement, CR. that pretty much mirrors my psychologically progression of doing "hard drugs" (and no I am not going to argue which drugs are hard, fuckin pointless). it starts off as curiosity, but then it usually builds into something a bit more extreme.

I only use 'hard drugs' because the 'weak drugs' don't work anymore. The problem is that I don't know what drugs are weak or hard.

hahaha, another classic K'dOut qoute. good one, my man!

live my life as a thug nigga until the day i die, live my life as a boss playa cause even gettin high

I fail to realize how qouting 2pac is relevant to these other situations/reflections???

I was going to ask if by hard drugs we were refering to drugs that had the highest potential for addiction, but then I realized that nicotine and caffeine would probably be included in that category, and I don't think most people consider coffee to be a hard drug. But wouldn't it be fair to say that people could use nicotine as a temporary escape from a problem? I don't smoke so I'm not too sure about that one.

I wouldn't classify weed as a hard drug, but I've smoked it every day before, and it was difficult for me to quit when I had to. I was also irritable for at least a couple of weeks after I quit. So if we were simply calling all drugs with the potential for addiction hard then I think all drugs would be hard except for psychedelics (other than weed) because as far as I know it is impossible to become dependent on psychedelics.

For myself, I have had many reasons for doing drugs, at leas to start off with, but I believe that once you are addicted, you probably don't need any other reason to do the drug at all, except that you are addicted. I've definitely done drugs out of boredomn, but then again, part of the reason I've been bored is from circumstances resulting from alot of partying and the fact that I didn't need hobbies because I was happy just to do the drugs.

I don't honestly think that there are that many people who really use meth just for recreation, and I have yet to meet one. Now, personally, meth could be a social drug for me, but if I use it to help me socially I am still using it as a crutch and not using it simply for recreation. I liked the euphoria of meth but MDMA and opiates provide a better feeling without the horrible comedown. So those are the only 2 drugs I think I would take just to feel good, although I would do other drugs like psychedelics and weed out of boredomn.

I find it hard to believe that somebody would have any reason to smoke crack except for addiction. Sure, I've tried and I like the rush, but unless I had an insane ammount of money, it would never be worth the cost for the few minutes of enjoyment it provides. So if I were to include "hard" drugs that I have any experience with as drugs that I can think of no good reason to do other than addiction or escape, then I can only think of 2, which would be meth and crack. However, if somebody were to walk up to me and offer me either one at pretty much any time, I'm 90% sure that I would do it, along with most other drugs that I've tried.

With the meth, I would say that it is addiction, because I know before I take it that I'm going to feel like shit later and wish that I hadn't taken it, so there is no logical reason for me to do it.

With the crack I don't think it is the same situation, because I could do a few hits without suffering much negative effects, and I would only do it if it was free, because I hate spending so much money for such a short high. So I guess I would have to say I'd just do crack for fun, which sounds a little crazy, but maybe no more than shooting heroine for fun, which I have done before as well.

I've had problems with dependency of alcohol and speed, and I have not been doing either one recently. I haven't been doing weed either recently but not for the same reason, mostly because of drug testing. And I am starting to think that paranoia may be the weed bringing out the anxieties you already have, because my paranoia with weed is most often felt in social situations, and I have experienced paranoia with LSD and shrooms in those same situations, nearly evey time I am around other people in fact. And on Salvia I experienced an absolutely terrifying experience, which could simply represent my subconcious fears being all brought to the surface. I feel that my level of anxiety and fear seemed to increase with the level of strength of the psychedelic and the dose. So if this theory is right, it would be best for me to stick to weed psychedelics (and I would include DXM and K in that category) and leave most of the other drugs alone, although I can only speak for myself. I'm not too sure where MDMA would fit into this.

I love hard drugs i do them
to take away pain and stress.
Heroin and OXycotin about 160 mg. a day now other people think that i'm crazy i'm 22 about to be 23. And my bones and shit are so bad its rediculious. So thats Y i need my oxy or methadomes or something strong in the opiate form ;)

Peace peeps

the question is all relative. There is no "the hardest drug". Heroin can fuck you over more than meth. Crack can fuck you over more than heroin. Xanax can fuck you over more than crack. LSD can fuck you over more than xanax. Datura can fuck you over more than LSD. Alcohol can fuck you over more than datura......and on and on.

I dont like the term "hard drugs"...cause they're all just chemicals. It's not like if you zoom in with a microscope on heroin that all the little H molecules are wearing leather jackets with their arms crossed and have mean glares on their faces....and it's not like cannabis molecules are prancing around in meadows putting flowers in eachother's hair....lmao
