Really, what happened to social?

I'm posting because everyone else seems to be and in usual fashion my post is unconstructive and contributes nothing to the thread... but even if it did, would it really matter?

:)

=D

yes it would matter. i think that its essential for most people, and the good well being of mental health to communicate. the forms of communication come in many different forms, and it can be bewteen a book, between a person, or a group of people or even something which is totally different such as through pictures, landscapes and feelings.

i would have to say that most if not all the poeple that post here on bluelight do so, because they find it a reasonable way to communicate about different issues. people here seem to get a level of respsonse that they are comfortable with.

it may not changed the world, but there is a point.

it is always the CYCLE. I still pop my head in every now and then. Too many new people that I have not met, too many threads that are not followed up. Im lost as hell in here at times. But i just pick a thread that I kinda like and do a post every now and then :\

The novelty has worn off but there are still great frens here that make me come back and say "hi".

No matter how we have changed or the place has changed, BL still has a spot in our hearts.

:)

What happened to social?

Who care, we are all here now so if you dont like it what your read.....

......then fuck off.

I am gay also.

Without question, it has changed. I miss classic threads like, can you fax acid, you know when you are in a bad rave when..., etc... and some of the old skool posters. I'd like to say that I had what takes to bring it back to it's old self, but I don't.

Its more the sad reality that the people who used to post well thought out topics and discussions have passed on and been replaced by a bunch of people suffering from ADD. :)

Tho personally, often I dont make the effort to write out anything long and meaningful because half the time my post is overridden in a few hours by a stack of silly, useless posts which detract from the effort that I put into mine. No one really seems to stop and think "is there really any reason for me posting here or am I just wasting everyones time when they read this post?" anymore.

Tho pining for the old days generally ends up fruitless. Coz we all know the plurry happy Bluelighters you meet at first will inevitably end up the cynical jaded ones soon enough. :)

stace.

People only try to the standard that is expected from them.
At some stage someone lowered the bar and noone has attempted to raise it again :o

lol...

I really think, before people continue bitching, that you should all go out and do some market research on the quality of other boards out there in cyberspace.

Here's a sample of some of the inane bullshit I found on the Ipecac website message board.

Topics over the last few days:

- Sausage Abuse

- Shut up Dominique you DUMB BITCH!!

- Post here and I'll tell you what hairdo you should have

- Has anyone jacked off to the User's photos?

- Asparagus is the BESTEST

- "Seymour, are you looking at naked ladies?"

- Was there a Garbage Pail Kid with your name?

- What about those seedless watermelons?

- Clown Porn

Now, admittedly, that last topic looks quite interesting... ;) .... but my point is, Australian Social is FAR from a cesspit of mindless garbage. We have moderators here who do a terrific job of keeping discussions on track, and I for one don't think a few "light" topics to anything to denigrate the atmosphere at all.

In fact, I'll admit when I first joined bluelight I rarely went into Aus. Social. I'm not stupid, but some of the topics just baffled, alienated and intimidated me. Now, I'll happily come and post in the fun topics and it's allowed me the benefit of actually meeting some people I'd not have met otherwise.

I say versatility and diversity can only make us stronger.
