Real raves (for clarification in the USA "rave" refers to giant commerical shitfests)

Long live house indeed! Certainly its not purrfect but and at many levels it breaks down (racial) barriers, I know it did for me. Until I got into deep house in the US, I was simply not used to spending lots of time in majority black environments.

Lots of good stuff to read here, thanks.

By the way, I know for a fact that Francois K and Marshall Jefferson checked in on this thread %)%)

To me house music (and all its derivations) is perfect. House music represents joy and life and happiness, it is the purest embodiment of positivity. There is no negativity in house. The innovators put their hearts and souls their personalities into the music they were creating and its beautiful. I doubt they had any idea what they were unleashing onto the world. Its a great contribution to your modern history, for all the negative aspects one can summon up when they think of modern America, and there are a few lets be honest, house is an antidote to all of it, it is a conduit of positivity, created by a bunch of gospel worshipping black americans who loved life and used that medium to express it.

Its also great to dance to on acid or ecstasy :D

Holy shiznizzle, I was in the hospital for a few days and this thing grew. Like my kidney stone.

First, it isn't pervy to want to be in the company of attractive women. nothing to worry about though at a Psytrance event....

Thanks for the advice Amstertram and for defending our DJs. But you live in Amsterdam, even if the raves aren't like American there are always cool parties. One can only listen to so much pop remixes. Did hook up with a local rock band that is based out of Lyon and also happens to love Raves so maybe I will see some cooler parties soon.

Fao Ghostface

You should do a little research regarding the music you listen to. I've never heard as much shit in my life. You're suggesting acid house/techno originated in the UK? Get a fucking grip, you never heard of Dj Pierre, Juan Atkins, Kevin Sauderson, Derrick May? Do you have any knowledge of dance music that goes past the last 5 years.. doesn't fucking look like it. You'd be better keeping your dumb mouth shut and learning some history before spouting any further shite like that.

Fao Part time crackhead - you been passing any other peoples mixes off as your own lately? Fucknut.

just back from a good rave there now, loadsa breakcore, dubstep, gabber, acid techno, u name it, it was there :D
absolutely kick ass night! now to sink a few sleepers and hit the hay as my legs can barely move (always the sign of a good night)

What the fuck is this??? What you on about ya clown?

Ha ha what you been up to crackhead eh? :D

No clue. I have never passed any mix off as my own (other than a wee shady 20 minute effort done on Ableton) nevermind someone elses.

Has anyone ever seen me even attempt to post a mix???

Well it seems my interpretation of what happened prior to the Summer of Love (+/- 3-4 years) is wrong. After some hefty discussions with some more unbiased friends...

Though I fully support everything else I have stated in this thread.

Hey Ghostface, Thank fuck you just owned up! (Re: the origins of Acid)

Before getting into long and painful debates, a wee google might of been worth while to save you from looking like a simpleton.

When I have made a mistake, I admit it, not many do that, especially on the interwebz 8) + I hardly believe half the stuff I read on the net.

Im actually booked up to go to a UK Commercial shitfest in December.

Im off to see Deadmau5 at the Braehead Arena. I wholly expect that to be to a celebration of everything commercial and shit. (still think I'll have a good time courtesy of VW ;) )

Anyone else going to wallow in the cheese and shit?

I was expecting someone to post something about Nocturnal, which took place this weekend in Southern California.

I thought it was a refreshingly honest act that he did admit he was wrong - would you have done the same? honestly? few would. It also tells me more about his character than him 'being right'. Maybe being a little nicer about it would encourage more people to act like this.

I agree, not many people, especially on the internet admit they are wrong, although in this example the evidence against his case was a) very compelling b) easily found in under a minute via google!

His character was never in question, his research and knowledge of the Acid house genre was!

Apologies for using the term simpleton if you where offended Ghostface.

+1 to that, ghostface is probably like the 3rd person since the internet was created to admit being wrong about something on a message board
