Re: Ye olde Bluelyghte

No more talk of drama.

Welcome back TheKid! :)

This is a good day! Free MDMA for everyone! Metaphorically, obviously!

Hey IJ! Have you been causing a ruckus?

I'll take some free MDMA. Or meph. Or anything really....White Lightening Cider?

I came on here to check the modthreads, spied this and thought "Oh fuck! Not another 'Ye Olde Blueyghte' thread. :D

No reflection on the OP at all, just that I'd rather not see the kind of negativity that's been around, and that goes for one and all, myself included.

Imagine my surprise when apart from a bit of a wobble (which got sorted) this turned out to be the most positive thread I'd read on EADD in a while.

Specialspack, that was a genuinely great post. Better than anyone you list as a quality poster, and there are some good names there. I say that although the list includes me, so you know I genuinely mean it. And thank you. :)

A few things to consider for everybody though; being thick-skinned is indeed an admirable quality (and one you'll need to get very far in EADD ;) ).

It can, however, be off-putting to somebody new around here if they're immediately flamed, ridiculed or whatever. Fair enough, there are some real dicks, but there's a worrying percentage of people who never make it past Greenlighter status for no reason oher than being put off. Okay, fifty posts is a relatively high number, and you have to make allowances for the normal high-noob-turnover rate of forums / fora / whatever. Also there are people who just join up to ask a question now and then, so they might remain Greenlighters. Okay so far.

We mustn't forget that EADD is also a social forum though (which brings us neatly back to the OP), and the social scene tends to be dominated in many cases by the more controversial posters and those who can / have to bear their antics.

You might be okay with that; I, to a certain extent, am too. It's fairly obvious (post count, familiarity, etc.) however, when somebody relatively new attempts to join the social chatter. In many cases they're welcomed, but far too often we see them being humiliated, sarcastic comments being aimed their way, questions asked about the size of their tits, whatever.

Alright, it's banter. You know that, I know that. The new person doesn't necessarily know that, or know the context it's intended in.

Would you walk down the street and call a guy a 'cunt' if he said he was wired on meph and repress last weekend? I hope he'd chin you. Then rob you. :)

So what I'm saying has little to do with the Old BL / New BL thing, because let's face it, the past has gone. It may have been great fun, but it's gone.

What I'm talking about is the way newer people are treated socially round here. There are many cases where sound advice will be offered to a relatively unknown person. That's great - it's what BL's about. There are also times when the behaviour displayed by some of the more regular EADD posters puts people off staying here long or even joining. Now that's sad, don't you think?

Thanks to everyone who made me smile. And the first 'tl;dr'loses their front teeth. :D

lol @ 'old bluelight'

people were saying the same stuff in 2005 when the OP joined, and in 2001 when i first signed up!

forums often have these types of threads, i guess things in the past always appear greener in the present than they were at the time.

shit, everything was better last year.

Everything must change and be in constant flux, like life, that's bluelight. Drugs help with this process. That's my opinion.

The past always looks better, but i'd not like to go back to who I was when I first joined BL, my time here has been a lesson, a fun one.

The past always looks better, because we cant see in to the future. The past is usually always the good days right?

Good point! Has anyone noticed a lack of empathy in the new pills since the drought? Different synth maybe?

No. Pills were just better back in the day. ;) So was the music. :)

But happy to check your new pills. Just send them ASAP.

I was half expecting Mop to jump in with that one. Ahh those rose tinted's eh? I should know, mine look farther back than most of yours so I'm used to their frequent use and annoying scratched lenses. And that's the best dicksizing I can manage.

Anyway, treat it as a BL enema I guess. Or perhaps springclean is more appropriate.

Sorry to walk away just as this was unfolding ex colleagues. Actually that's a lie. I would have hidden under a table I think.

*takes a deep breath and walks out into the new dawn. And wonders cynically how long it will be before the clouds come over once again*
