But, what is true the majority of the time, is not an absolute truth. A single observed violation invalidates a theory and requires it to be modified. Special cases must still be handled. Unlike math or computer, you can not just toss on your trollface and write down [undefined] or throw an exception and dump core IRL.

On the age of consent... which is a question of law. Consider that, for example, where I am in Canada, 16 is age of consent. Some people baaaw that is too young to understand the ramifications of and consequences of sex. However, I think its fair enough, keeping in mind that one may enlist in the armed forces at 16. One may be held criminally liable under adult law for major offences at 16. If you able to understand and consent to the consequences of stepping on a land mine, or understand the consequences and reality of doing a 15 year bid in the pen, I think one is able to understand and consent to sex.

If we want to play the majority of the time game, for the 2006 reporting year, the majority of culpable homicides in Canada against children where committed by the mother.

If stereotypes are true a majority of the time, where can we extend this to? More sexism? Racism too? Religious bigotry? Can the police start profiling people and performing arbitrary detention and search because they seen a black guy in baggy jeans?...or world that cause a thread to be posted in CE&P with everyone butthurt?

I had the same views TBH. I really think the media and reality shows (Teen Mom lol) represent the worst. But, now that I've dated a lawyer who works for legal services, and made the comment that welfare should be monitored more, he's told me some stories about women in a situation. He says it's not really that common for the woman to use kids as a paycheck. A lot of times it's a girl who is young, dropped out of high school and the dad just decided he didn't want to do it anymore and the girl needs help to be a more productive person. The kids-for-paycheck thing does happen, but a lot of times, guys just don't want to carry their responsibility and complain that the girl is getting too much, but the reality is that kids are expensive and you can't support the kid without supporting the mom.

This isn't because the mothers are stupid. It's because the way our society operates makes it damn near impossible to have children at a young age. What is a high-school guy who got his high-school girlfriend pregnant really going to do? It's not really possible to get a wage sufficient for raising a family at this age, is it? So what exactly is a guy supposed to do in this situation?

I think that we can't allow people to be pushed into such difficult circumstances just for having kids at a young age. You can't expect people to not have kids at a young age-- it's human nature. Fighting human nature never works. If, despite our efforts to prevent teen pregnancy, a teen couple has a child, the guy should be able to volunteer himself for an industry other than the military and earn a wage high enough to support his family. This is not the case currently, and so I say it's common sense that guys will leave the mothers of their children. They really don't have a viable way of making a family work.

How men and women handle a pregnancy at a young age is up to the 2 people involved, but the whole reason there are laws and lawyers and women with kids desperate for help is because of inexperience with everything. I don't expect people not to have kids at a young age, but I certainly will suggest abortion or any birth control that stops them from having one at a young age, if they post here or ask me. Lets not pretend it's roses and rainbows for them. If they still decide to go with it, then they will have less opportunities, but they will still have them. And I sure as hell will always tell girls to keep in mind that there is a possibility the guy will up and leave when shit gets hard. It happens all the time, and unfortunately, the guy isn't going to tell her there is that possibility.

I don't believe in pretending things are roses and rainbows. They should know that it's hard. And what they need to do and then go from there. And, the guy needs to also help and if that means he's stuck working 60 hours a week for minimum wage, well then, that's what you have to do.

You can't expect him to make a high salary, because he has skills in nothing, but that doesn't mean he can't work to be productive and give assistance to the mother of his child even if they are not together. People are becoming more aware of the problem, and at least in my school, they have daycare for parents going to college to help kids become more even with the extra responsibilities.

Transfer custody to the father, make him raise the kid without supporting the mom. You can disagree if that is right or wrong morally, but it is possible, and hence, your premise of "can't" i.e. not possible, is false.

Lame it may be, but it's what happens. It shouldn't be so hard for either parent is my point. Guys who do this are generally not doing it to be assholes, or to enjoy life-- they're doing it because they're running from what they view as insurmountable obstacles.

I do empathize with the girls in this situation more so than the guys, but the problem is deeper than "guys are lame". Guys are kinda pushed to be lame in this circumstance.

I had a bit of a "crush" on this french girl that kept looking at me in a swimming pool when i was in dubai. I was a teenager at the time but she couldn't have been much olderr than 13 - she was developing breasts & was very pretty.

Having said that the thought of kissing or sex with the girl was just totally wrong & not at all arousing.

I havn't read this thread yet but will later & am curious to know if anybody else has had a similar experience.

Pointing out that guys are drawn to girls who are sexually mature at a young age may upset you, but it is an undeniable fact. There are sexually mature 13-year olds and non-sexually mature 17-year olds.

teenagers are not sexually mature. period. you proved that point very clearly when you gave the example of the thirteen year-old with a child who isn't even old enough for a US work permit. while they may have breasts and be ovulating, they are NOT developed or equipped to handle ANY consequence of sex, let alone the emotional toll of a sick, older individual objectifying and preying upon them.

It might not be a good idea in our society to have children at such a young age, but you'll be hard pressed to show that there is anything inherently wrong with it.

hard pressed to show there's anything wrong with it? lol. a thirteen year-old girl is not financially or emotionally equipped to raise a child, cannot manage an AIDs infection, or get married or be STD screened or get a PAP or get an abortion or buy Plan B or acquire birth control without her parent's permission. she doesn't have a career, or a driver's license, or a home, or line of credit and hasn't graduated from high-school (if even from junior high). i'd also be interested in the amount of girls at this age who breastfeed or have any interest in bonding with their child or give birth naturally or aren't on some type of public assistance. babies born to parents who cannot provide for or tend to them are neglected children who suffer the dire and lasting consequences of their parent's irresponsible behavior.

Imagine if your life span was only 30-years and you lived in a warzone. Being sexually mature at 13 would now be just peachy. In fact, if you didn't take the opportunity to have sex at this age, you might never get the chance to experience your sexuality, have children, etc. You have to realize that society places upon us many circumstances that to not entirely jive with with our animal nature.

I guess a lot of that depends on your jurisdiction. There is no law here saying a minor must obtain their parents permission for a microbio lab or to get an RX for a non controlled substance. It works the other way around, the parent must forbid them from doing so if they do not want them to do it. (On the other hand; it IS illegal to deny someone healthcare on protected grounds, one of which is age. It is also generally held by the courts to be illegal and to constitute negligence to withhold from a dependant access to essential care)

Lifespan? 'we' do not have a lifespan, that is something is unique to each individual. Averages are just that, averages, and in some cases, may represent an outcome which never occurs or can not occur (i.e. the average value for an infinite series of rolls with a fair dice is 3.8.) Some people will indeed have a 30 year lifespan, some will have less, some will have more. Its not terribly relevant, but trying to assign a single value as the lifespan of humans is fallacious.

The thread being creepy or not is an appeal to emotion, and itself is a logical fallacy.

Not all are ready at 13. But you can't say that none are ready either.
They are ready when they decide they are ready.

Ps: it's more likely that they will experience pregnancy when having sex with someone of their own age group than someone who is older and more responsable enough not to blow in her.

Here in Australia QLD the age of consent is 16, for vaginal sex, but 18 for anal sex.
That is mental, it's obviously an anti homosexual measure.

In Celtic Britain, girls on their first menses, usually around 11- 13, would experience their first time with select older men of the tribe.
