Rave's till 4.A.M.

damn sucks to be you guys. here some places have 24 hour licenses and stay open all day sunday haha
Ive been to 3 4 day parties. Not festivals, multi stage thousands of head parties.
I have seen awesome shows in the 15 years i've been a raver. Trust i've had my fun.

so what this thread is telling me is that we should have a rave, all of us, until at least motherfucking 4am. LETS. DO. IT.

remember like 2 or 3 christmases/new years ago we had that bluelight party goin where ppl would spin for like 1-2 hours at a time and anyone who was there was streaming it and chatting. yeah. we should do THAT again. i'd attend ;)

It was a good idea in theory. All we did was record sets and have someone broadcast it. I did a live mix and its basically more trouble than its worth.

Lysis made the correct point, "What? You want us to go back to 1999/2000, early 2000? No one gives a shit anymore ..."

Or something like that. I think the board has somewhat died a bit, we got like 8 people or something. So ...

Fuck that though, if its the fucking end of the world there is no place I'd rather be than in the dark with the blue lights on spinning records.

LOVE THEM HATERS

I'm a fucking junglist. I fight against all the flavor of the minute poppy no talent bitches now idolized by the mainstream. It wasn't about anything but music. I don't even need to see the dj other than to give him a lil props. I don't give a fuck what you look like as long as you have good taste and you can mix. I might not be able to trainspot but I'll get over it
Sorry for the rant.

It was about more than the music. It was about the drugs. Let's face it, rave culture was an epicentre for getting fucked up. In hindsight I think that's where all the "PLUR" came from. It's easy to love the world when you've been doing drugs for the past 48 hours and everyone around you is totally accepting of how fucked up you are because they are equally as fucked up as you.

I don't think the mainstream took over. I think the original people just moved on, like you said. The new generation had different values, different ways of connecting and different things they thought were fun. No point in getting bitter. They didn't shut down the scene, the government did. Toward the end it seemed like mainstream types and the old schoolers partied together in relative peace.

Comfort Zone in Toronto still runs until 8am/11am ish

lulz... the Comfort Zone. Now that's a name that brings back some grimy memories. That place was the biggest shit hole ever when I used to rave and that was a long time ago. I can't imagine what it must be like now. Is it still run by the Hell's Angels? Are there still people passing out with needles in their arms in the washrooms?

Ours go till 2am at venues with alcohol, then move to after hour clubs that go until 7 or 8am.

There's "raves" (technically EDM club, but everybody is rolling balls) in DFW (Texas) that go 4-8am every weekend. Have been for the past 10 years. There's also similar afterhour clubs, that go past 4am, in Houston.

I still see parties that are all ages that go till 4 or 5 am every once in a while. They are mostly smaller events. Hell the big parties these days start during the day now.

why don't they just stop serving alcohol at 2?

i love going to a party, dancing all night, buying my last drink at last orders at 2am then dancing some more and buying a breakfast beer when the bar reopens at 8am or whenever :)

sure.

i guess it depends on the type of music a lot as well. i like house and techno. i always found that the "secret location, RSVP required" parties that take place either in warehouses or outside are the most interesting. it's true that most clubs (even the ones i like such as bunker/public assembly) close between 4-6am. but i prefer warehouse-type parties from promoters like blkmarket membership, verboten, and resolute. some of those do large parties which are quite large so i think one could call those parties raves. and those parties tend to go until 8am or later, and they're not even after-parties.

Are the verboten parties worth going to? I keep getting emails for them but haven't made the effort to go yet, i've seen some good lineups on them.

@alasdair

You are going to be hard pressed to find a drinking establishment that's willing to stay open much passed the serving window. Especially when it comes to clubs that have to pay security, door workers, sound and lighting personel etc. Those 6 hours worth of salaries have to be paid with almost no income during that time, sure there will be a few more people paying cover and buying sodas but it really is a fraction of what's made from 10-2.

Of course you will always find exceptions when there is a venue that cares more about music and fun rather than making the most profit possible.

I'm replying way late but if you guys been in the scene or long enough there are still a lot of family oriented people and promoters. You just have to know the right people. Shit even if a rave can't go past 4am there are tons of after parties. I mean legit ones. My friend's spin and we have multiple Dj's of all genres spinning in the basement even using vinyl. Shit sometimes the afterparties are better than the rave.

Again you have to know the right people and most aren't going to just invite randoms over. The good thibg is they aren't over run by little kids. The last afterparty I went to my boyfriend and I were the youngest people there. Everyone else was over 21. We danced all nighy and the kids who couldn't handle staying up were sound asleep upstairs. There were tons of drugs and the e we were takibg was the closest to mdma you could get. My friends didn't stop spinning until past 9am. Poi was happening even fire poi.... we had a legit freestle dancer who was a massive coke head but could dance. Everyone smoked weed and money wasn't an issue. We all just enjoyed the time we spent together and hits of dmt were taken when the sun began to rise.

The house even was set up like a rave downstairs. The rave never ended. So things are still family oriented... not only at house parties but warehouse raves ect. Again these aren't the sixteen year old ravers but people who've been in the rave scene since the 90s.

Yeah legal venues close early (well some) but that doesn't mean the night ends there.

I feel sorry for you guys : / The bars here close at 3 AM and the clubs do at 5 AM with a LEGAL after till 9. The raves are 24 hours or longer... lol

Chicago politics, God I hate them. Most places have liquor hours till 2 some till 4 I only know of one that has been bumped till 5. What ends up happening is my friends and I take the party to one of our places. I don't mind the drive back, it just sucks to be the DD because your forced to start drinking or what ever you please at 6. We've been know to keep the party going till noon :D. I've only been to one club that kept the party going for ever and that was Space in Miami.

I doubt CZ was run by the Hell's Angels lool...it is a fucked up place though

It depends on who's party it is, they usually start from 10pm till about (8am-1pm) and then there's after parties.. lol it never ends!! Alcohol sales go to 3am (if venue has a legal permit/bar) or till the event stops.

4am sounds weak :P parties get good at 2am usually but some venues close at 3am due to location (residential area) but there's always an after or another event.

Raving is all about the illegal outdoor raves in the middle of butt-fuck nowhere that go until 8am.
