so what this thread is telling me is that we should have a rave, all of us, until at least motherfucking 4am. LETS. DO. IT.
remember like 2 or 3 christmases/new years ago we had that bluelight party goin where ppl would spin for like 1-2 hours at a time and anyone who was there was streaming it and chatting. yeah. we should do THAT again. i'd attend![]()
SineWaveSoldier said:I'm a fucking junglist. I fight against all the flavor of the minute poppy no talent bitches now idolized by the mainstream. It wasn't about anything but music. I don't even need to see the dj other than to give him a lil props. I don't give a fuck what you look like as long as you have good taste and you can mix. I might not be able to trainspot but I'll get over it
Sorry for the rant.
Comfort Zone in Toronto still runs until 8am/11am ish
why don't they just stop serving alcohol at 2?Ours go till 2am at venues with alcohol, then move to after hour clubs that go until 7 or 8am.
sure.
i guess it depends on the type of music a lot as well. i like house and techno. i always found that the "secret location, RSVP required" parties that take place either in warehouses or outside are the most interesting. it's true that most clubs (even the ones i like such as bunker/public assembly) close between 4-6am. but i prefer warehouse-type parties from promoters like blkmarket membership, verboten, and resolute. some of those do large parties which are quite large so i think one could call those parties raves. and those parties tend to go until 8am or later, and they're not even after-parties.
It was about more than the music. It was about the drugs. Let's face it, rave culture was an epicentre for getting fucked up. In hindsight I think that's where all the "PLUR" came from. It's easy to love the world when you've been doing drugs for the past 48 hours and everyone around you is totally accepting of how fucked up you are because they are equally as fucked up as you.
I don't think the mainstream took over. I think the original people just moved on, like you said. The new generation had different values, different ways of connecting and different things they thought were fun. No point in getting bitter. They didn't shut down the scene, the government did. Toward the end it seemed like mainstream types and the old schoolers partied together in relative peace.
lulz... the Comfort Zone. Now that's a name that brings back some grimy memories. That place was the biggest shit hole ever when I used to rave and that was a long time ago. I can't imagine what it must be like now. Is it still run by the Hell's Angels? Are there still people passing out with needles in their arms in the washrooms?
