Circumstances have dictated I get off codeine and quickly. Given that I must work, a rapid taper is really the only thing I can do.
On the ordinary day I was taking 128mg of codeine - half of that first thing in the morning, the other half in the late afternoon. Not a hell of a lot by any standard but certainly enough to get that pleasant mellow feeling.
I started the taper five days days ago. Day 1 - three 12.8mg tabs in the morning, two tabs in the arvo, one before bed. Day 2 - two in the morning, two in the arvo, one at night. Day 3, two in the morning, one in the arvo and one at night. Day 4, one in the morning, half of one in the arvo and the other half at night.
Also been taking some doxylamine to help me sleep (50mg 20 mins before bed) and some aspirin if I'm feeling too achy.
Things brings me to today - only had 12.8mg (it's 5pm) and I feel only slightly uncomfortable - a slight backache, some shakes, lethargy, general weakness, some runs to the bathroom and a tiny upset stomach.
My question is, given the above what do you guys think is likely once I stop?
Will I still go through hell 48 hours after my last dose in a day or two?
I'm finding it difficult to find people who have gone through anything remotely similar here, that's all.
For background: I'm a 26-year-old male who aside from a nicotine addiction and a slight disposition to depression is in good health. Not taking any other drugs, not even weed.
I have to stop quickly as I an unexpectedly flying to Japan next week and can't bring any opiates with me. Might have a shot at rocking up to a pharmacy there and trying my luck, but do not want to rely on this thought. Definitely don't want to be caught smuggling them in!
I was using 128mg a day for something like 12-16 months. Can't really remember honestly.
And yeah I already know I'm a massive opiate pussy but honestly at this point things seem TOO easy, even for a low-range, low-potency opiate-user like me.:/
