Sup Blulighters!
Circumstances have dictated I get off codeine and quickly. Given that I must work, a rapid taper is really the only thing I can do.
On the ordinary day I was taking 128mg of codeine - half of that first thing in the morning, the other half in the late afternoon. Not a hell of a lot by any standard but certainly enough to get that pleasant mellow feeling.
I started the taper five days days ago. Day 1 - three 12.8mg tabs in the morning, two tabs in the arvo, one before bed. Day 2 - two in the morning, two in the arvo, one at night. Day 3, two in the morning, one in the arvo and one at night. Day 4, one in the morning, half of one in the arvo and the other half at night.
Also been taking some doxylamine to help me sleep (50mg 20 mins before bed) and some aspirin if I'm feeling too achy.
Things brings me to today - only had 12.8mg (it's 5pm) and I feel only slightly uncomfortable - a slight backache, some shakes, lethargy, general weakness, some runs to the bathroom and a tiny upset stomach.
My question is, given the above what do you guys think is likely once I stop?
Will I still go through hell 48 hours after my last dose in a day or two?
I'm finding it difficult to find people who have gone through anything remotely similar here, that's all.

For background: I'm a 26-year-old male who aside from a nicotine addiction and a slight disposition to depression is in good health. Not taking any other drugs, not even weed.
I have to stop quickly as I an unexpectedly flying to Japan next week and can't bring any opiates with me. Might have a shot at rocking up to a pharmacy there and trying my luck, but do not want to rely on this thought. Definitely don't want to be caught smuggling them in!
I was using 128mg a day for something like 12-16 months. Can't really remember honestly.
And yeah I already know I'm a massive opiate pussy but honestly at this point things seem TOO easy, even for a low-range, low-potency opiate-user like me.:/

Yeah I've got some Immodium but refrain from taking it if I can because I despise feeling constipated. It's for that reason I don't mind the runs too much!:P

It might be a good idea to merge your first two posts together.

In any case, you shouldn't feel anything too bad- I'd be surprised if you felt anything, actually. You should have tapered yourself off enough, even for a habitual user. Try some polyethylene glycol for your other problem I forget what the brand names are

Merged :)
I would also like this thread to be something of a repository of experiences for rapid tapers off codeine, DHC and other low potency opiates. Info on this is really hard to find online - most of the experiences I've found are for people doing slow tapers on high doses of oxy or heroin and using codeine to battle WD.
Obviously that helps people like me (and there are LOADS of us) not a hell of a lot! So if you have anything to add please do!

Update - only having 6.4mg today which is child's play.
Jumping off tomorrow, flying out the day after.
Stomach is no longer upset, sleep was fine and no more shakes.
Will update if anything weird starts happening!

6.4mg codeine is equivalent to no codeine at all, IMO. That's less than what's in a Tylenol 1. Good job on your detox.

If you keep your opiate usage so low that 60mg codeine, 2x a day controls your pain and/or brings euphoria, you're doing something right.

I did it half for the "euphoria" (hesitant to use that word because it was a nice and confident/productive relaxed feeling at most) and half because it staved off headaches... which I am quite prone to.
Frankly I was expecting my head to be banging from the beginning of my taper but not even a slight headache thus far!
I suspect I'm a very lucky man.

6.4mg of codeine is basically nothing. So your not really taking anything. You have tapered correctly so your upcoming withdrawals shouldn't be any worse than they are right now. For 3 days expect some minor withdrawals with mild discomfort (Immodium would help with that). You may feel a little anxious and depressed.

Yep, didn't feel a thing. Had a massive headache on the third day of no codeine... just had to suffer through it. Pretty much impossible to get codeine OTC in Japan unless I wanted to guzzle cough syrup with god knows what else in it.
Now I'm completely opiate-free. Way easier than I thought but I definitely wouldn't have done it unless I had to.

Congratulations mate, great job, you deserve a pat on the back it's not easy to get off opiates,

You done a great job man try remember how sheet it made you feel before you get back on them again, unless you need them for ligament medical reasons like pain relief or getting really high for sex lol, jjk

Once again congratulations brother

Great to hear that your rapid taper worked, there is quite a lot of information on opiate tapers in this thread that is located in Other Drugs

Tapering Plan Mega thread - community project

Am going to close the thread now as the OP has successfully completed his taper and the thread I linked to above contains a lot of information regarding opiate tapers.

If you have any problems with my closing of the thread or think that it should be reopened then shoot me a PM

Mugz :)
