A bloke ive been chatting to online for ages as a mate asked me out on a date. Hes 30 but its still feels a bit ewww..
I can be far to insecure and vain to go out with a 30 year old bloke anyway. I'd much rather be an older mans plaything than a young mans slave.

Which Nordic Lands Seyer?

For a number of years, yes. Gonna go to school and build my life up over there. Im sad to leave California :(

I bet you are. You're basically inverting the weather! How did you manage to get visas for over there? Are you going to learn the language? I've heard it's hard.

Im a citizen by descendance and I learned Finnish from my mother before I knew a lick of English. In fact, I started primary school knowing only Finnish and Spanish.

a) he looks more like 25/26 and I would feel self conscious going out with him. I'm glad its becoming more acceptable for older women to date younger men but Its just not my thing and I would frankly feel embarrassed.

b)This will definitely sound condescending but fuck it.. The 30s years are generally a moulding and refining time.* Fucking hard for a lot of people for that reason. I think we loose our twenties 'i am invincible' kinda swagger and usually find that decade quite humbling. I know it bought me to my knees anyway. In short I find men that have been through all that more attractive/easy to relate to..+ you have all the same kind of references and nostalgias.

*IMO

anyway i'm rambling inanely n that... i'm off to bed. xxxx

That's fair enough, although many men don't seem to have a problem with quite cavernous age gaps. Also, remember that women have a greater life expectancy than men - if mutual long-term companionship is your goal, it makes sense for the lady to be older!

Plus, who cares what's "acceptable"? You could work through your embarrassment, I'm sure! Is it not more important that you make each other happy than that you make other people happy? The relationship is between the two of you, after all.

But of course, it's all about balancing a complex set of variables.

I can relate to that a lot and I don't think it need be condescending. But why's that bad? In the process we can replace "I'm invincible" with "I have lost many of my delusions". And you could be the young man's guide. EDIT although I can understand why you might not want to be part of that process as it has the potential to cause "collateral damage".

Wow! That is a seriously lucky start! I've heard getting drugs over in Scandinavia is extremely difficult, are you gonna knock it on the head? If I could choose anywhere in the world to raise children it would be there, but the language is a serious issue.

The one you missed, Finland. Home country, here I come.

Is Finland a "Nordic" country? I know it's geographically north but in my mind there's a link between Nordic and Germanic, ethnically, linguistically and culturally. I always thought Finland had more of a Slavic influence.

EDIT: Google tells me my mind is wrong! So I'll purge it of filthy wrongness....

EDIT 2: Although linguistically, at least, I think I'm right to think Finnish is a bit of an odd-one-out in that "nordic" category.

They all speak English, frequently better than the English! My pal (a fellow Scot) moved to Sweden and has settled down quite happily with his Swedish bird and now has two Swedish kids; he's had to learn Swedish, but he's done pretty fucking well, despite being quite mature, to the point where one might think it would be tricky.

But they're kinda socialist (lefty anyway), MSB, so you would be refused entry at the border! (I've told them about you)
